Another decent entry by Mr. Guenther. It was nice seeing Bolan aided by some Stony Man help in the form of Encizo & Grimaldi. The plot moved along at a decent pace and the action scenes were well written. Although at times I found myself not really caring about what occurred between the fueing factions of the Havana Five and the female villain was a bit much with her sexual appetite - lol And I expected a little more emotion from Encizo being back in his birthland of Cuba. 8 out of 10, this author has a solid track record when it comes to Bolan novels. -
Book #1474 () 7/10 February 23, 2009I was really looking forward to a new Bond novel finally coming out! While I enjoyed 'Devil May Care' for the most part - there was quite a few bits that I either didn't enjoy or found to be somewhat tedious. PROS: - the 1960's setting actually made for a good read - good setting up on the plot - good location(s) in the book - good series history continuity - Faulks has his Ian Fleming technique down pat CONS: - the whole 004/Scarlett subplot was stupid & needless - no real womanizing for Bond until the very end - Mathis was underused and written as lazy - Felix Leiter was extremely underused in the story - Glover was good as the villain, but could've been BETTER as a Bond villain - Darius was a poor attempt at a Kerim Bey clone - the story dragged on needlessly in parts - Aside from the showdown with Glover, the ending in Paris was pointless Although I have my complaints with certain parts of 'Devil May Care', I'd like to see Faulks try his hand at one or two more 007 books. All in all, a modest 1st attempt at writing Ian Fleming's James Bond.....with some practice Faulks can get better at writing Bond novels.

This Stony Man novel had it all and in just one book. It read like the script/outline for some big blockbuster techno-thriller. The author ran the Stony Man teams through their paces in this one. They took one helluva beating in this one. All the characters were both written & used very well in the story. It was great seeing Akira out in the field and seeing what a big part of the story he played in this one. Also the rare Brognola out in the field bit was a treat usual. The story itself flowed very nice all throughout. It kept you interested and guessing what was coming next all the way through. Denn made for a good villain for the Stony Man crew. And he truly shined as the big baddy in the story in the Able Team ambush scene when revealed himself to Brognola. If this particular story was made into an action-thriller it would have to be a 6 to 8hr mini-series. The end scene on the oil rig was breath-taking, especially when it got torpedoed. Top notch writing on this one! -
All in all an excellent Bolan entry by longtime 'deranged' fan turned power-author DouglasPwz - lol Doug managed to capture the essence of that man known as Mack Bolan quite well! All the sidekick type characters were done quite well and seemed very human......too bad most of them bit the dust by the end though. Making the baddies an Israeli terrorist group was a nice twist to the story and I hope the Abraham's Dagger cretins get revisited in future Bolan books. Keep up the good work! -
A decent enough SuperBolan yarn from the creative mind of Jon Guenther. I especially like the merc team from the Quail Group, too bad they didn't survive the book to be heard from again. I didn't like how the kidnap victims, originally an integral part of the storyline, vanished from the story 2/3's of the way through after bolan rescued them though. I would've prefered Rivas to have gotten away so that Mack could have fought him another day. All in in all a good Bolan yarn, but nothing really too noteworthy stands out in this book though. -
What a Rip-roaring good time of a Bolan novel this one was! This storyline is one of the Bolan novels I refer to as as X-Files Bolan book due to the basis of the plot. Bolan takes on a modern-day 'Jack The Ripper' in London only to unearth a more sinister & complex plot. This is one of those Bolan books that has it all: - great plot - good characterization - superb action that was both gritty & realist - great support characters - excellent villains - spectacular final battle scene On the subject of Bolan's charcterization, doug really brought out the human side of the killing machine known as 'The Executioner'. You could feel his pain, dedication & loneliness come out with each page of the book. Great job on capturing the essence of what a Mack Bolan book should be. -
An excellent entry in the Bolan series. This book had just about every aspect of the Bolan series covered: great villain, great action, a Bolan Blitz to hunt down bombing suspects, just the right touch of Stony Man & Brognola to help Bolan out and great plot devices. I really liked the canoe chase down the river in upstate New York. The ending & final fate of The Ghoul as was good. I docked it a point for only one reason though: The Ghoul was too good a villain to kill off in just one book, he should've gotten away for Bolan to face another time. -
A decent entry into the series with a pretty straightforward plot that works well. The big three(Bolan, Able Team & Phoenix Force) were each given good parts to play in this story & were the good old gang that I remember. Decent action. Decent characterization. Overall decent story. -
What a great entry into the series by Chuck Rogers...as usual. And as usual Rogers threw in everything but the kitchen sink. It was great to see Bolan unleashed in Canada, the plot was riveting & somewhat original and the action & storytelling was intense. Bolan's RCMP sidekick was another great charcter added to the story. It was nice seeing a contemporary update to the age-old nemesis of the mafia. The finale aboard the submarine has you unable to put the book down until to you read how it ends. As usual I'm always looking forward until Chuck Rogers' next Bolan book. -
This Bolan book had a neat premise that fell flat upon it's execution....pun intended. I found this one hard to believe, even in the usual suspension of disbelief mode. Bolan has been all over the globe, fought all kinds of wars, but never once heard rumors of 'The Council'.....come'on The body count was through the roof. It seemed like this was a trilogy butchered down to just one novel. Seen better Bolans! -
What can I say Chuck Rogers has done it again with this Bolan outing. Rogers really has a grip on the longstanding character that is Mack Bolan, he knows how to bring out the best in Bolan's character even in the worst of situations. I liked seeing Red once more, although I was saddened on how things ended for him. There were some great characters in this one both good guys & villains. The action scenes were intense and had the reader on the edge of their proverbial seat. Chuck Rogers would be one of my top 3 picks to write the screenplay for a Bolan movie. -
This Super-Bolan seemed more like a super Super-Bolan....lol This one had about everything but the kitchen sink thrown into it. I liked all the additional characters that helped Bolan and added to the overall story. The plot device added a nice mix of sci-fi & mystery aspects to the story. Bolan was once more pushed to his limits & beyond which again added to the overall story. Continuity to the Kali/Thuggee cult(s) of prior missions was also a nice touch. We definitely need to see more Bolan books written like this one! -
A mildly interesting opening act in this trilogy. I liked Johnny Bolan's beefed up role in this one, but at times the author made it seem like Johnny was the star of the book series & not Mack Bolan....at least that's how it came across to me as a reader. The female Homeland Security agent seems like an interesting enough character, we'll see how she pans out. The villains though seemed like an unrealistic blend of criminals from across the globe. One gripe: After Johnny's Mexico encounter initially the villain's training compound & Florida assetts come under assault & no one bothered to connect the dots...hmmm -
What an action-packed plot driven excellent entry into the Bolan series. I really liked the author's style of moving the plot along and keeping things interesting. I also liked how the ex-KGB general started out as the main villain then it switched to his partner the ex-CIA agent as the main villain then in the end it was the Iranian intelligence guy. The woman helping Bolan were very interesting characters, too bad the Russian Major got killed before her & Bolan could hook up. Brognola's somewhat larger part than usual in this book was a plus too. I especially liked, and this made the book a 10 to me, how they figured out Special Agent Belasko was really the legendary Mack Bolan by his appearance & modus operandi - lol I was nice continuity to hear how the baddies remembered Bolan thrashing the mafia in the U.S. and refering to when Bolan took out Strahkov & the KGB bigwigs in the 'Moscow Massacre'. -
A decent entry into the Bolan series with both a good story & plenty of action. I really liked all the minor & guest characters in this one. There was plenty of secondary sub-plots to things moving along nicely. The Gorman/Marlin blood fued added to the overall feel of the story. Kamal is a major terrorist threat didn't really impress all that much, thus causing the rating to lose a point or two. It's funny reading Bolan stories where Saddam is mentioned now after he's been removed from power. It sorta dates the story somewhat - lol -
This was an awesome entry into the series, this was classic Mack Bolan in action. Bolan's guise of the 'Mr. 1908' aka the murdered trooper from the beginning of the book absolutely set the tone for this story. I really liked how this was more of a suspense thriller story than an action story. All the car action in this one rock & really added to the overall story. I wish Mr. Murray had done more Bolan books as he really had a feel for the character of Bolan. -
A decent enough Super Bolan that felt more like an unused Stony Man novel or even an old Phoenix force script that was adapted for Bolan. The SHC machine plot made for an interesting plotline. The Jinn2000 terrorist group was amusing, looking back on the whole Y2K doomsday scare of of the late 1990's now that we're almost at 2005. It was great to see the fugitive Bolan of days of old once more when the Israelis were hunting him. Mack is at his best when he's a hunted-man it seems. Bolan's meeting with the Libyan leader seemed to push the envelope of the story's believability though. All in all another good Bolan book for Mr. Fieldhouse. -
A decent Bolan homage to the Charles Bronsan movie 'TeleFon'. All the guest characters were very entertaining in this one: 01.) The female Russian agent helping Bolan was a nice touch, but I was disappointed Bolan didn't bed her at least once in this story. 02.) The rogue ex-KGB agent made for a nice villian, but I wished that Boan & him would've had more of a one on one adversarial match. 03.) The treasonous U.S. Army officer that was Bolan's key in this story made for a nice touch, it was nice to see him try redeeming himself by the book's end. The showdown finale at Disney World was a unique Bolan ending to say the least. -
This is one of the best written, action-oriented Bolan books I've ever read. The characterizations in this one were damn near perfect from Bolan & his nemesis to all the secondary characters. I couldn't put this one down because I never knew what to expect next nor where this story was going to take Bolan. The ending was a nice touch to show Bolan's Sgt. Mercy side BTW. -
Book #928 () 9/10 October 3, 2004This is a really good 007 outing on the part of Benson. The 1st half moved a little slow with a more detective-like feel to the novel but in the 2nd half it picked up speed. It was a nice change of pace to see the 1st Bond girl die halfway through. I liked Bond reflecting on the past & dead loved ones while in the hospital. It added to the overall continuity of the series. It was nice not only to see Tiger Tanaka once more, but to see the passage of time hadn't left him untouched. My only complaint was bond using the Walther PPK throughout the book, the P-99 is hi new issued weapon and he needs to stick with it. The PPK days are over people....move on already. I am saddened that this will be Benson's last Bond novel as I feel he's got the Bond storytelling down and was just beginning to hit his stride with it.
-
Book #882 () 7/10 September 15, 2004Not a bad entry into the Bond series by Benson, but neither is is all that great. I'd call it passable. It was nice seeing what became of Bond's former father-in-law Draco. The 'Union' premise was actually a neat idea in the beginning. The 1st two books in this trilogy were excellent, but as a showdown story this one was kind of a letdown. The plot to bomb the Cannes film festival was good, the action & gadgets were OK, but Bond's showdown with LeGerant was kind of lame.
-
A very action-filled 3rd parter to an overall excellent Bolan trilogy. This book had the dynamic duo of Bolan/Grimaldi all over the map mopping up the last remnants of their enemies. I enjoyed the Borneo part of this book the best. Dan Schmidt did good & really delivered with this Bolan trilogy. -
This was a strong middle book in a very good Bolan trilogy. The Bolan/Grimaldi team-up works great for this story. The main villains are written very well. The Hydra concept while vague in some points comes across as very chilling. The action is through the roof in this book. My only complaint is that Bolan never seems to get tired throughout all his globe-hopping destruction, he's like a Terminator powered by Energizer batteries - lol -
I loved this Bolan book by MB.com's very own DouglasPwz! Doug managed to nail it all in this one book: characterization, action, suspense, top-notch villains, continuity, attention to detail, etc. 'Hard Pursuit' will definitely go down as a true Bolan classic. 01.) Bolan was portrayed as human despite his past accomplishments and current predicament. 02.) The two Blacksuits added immensely to the overall story and added just the right amount of humor. 03.) It was nice to see Bolan taken out of his usual formula and retain the true feel of the character. 04.) Laud was a villain worthy of Mack Bolan. 05.) Wall to wall action complimented the storyline without drowning it out. We need more bolan novels along these lines. P.S. - Doug should pen scripts for some Hollywood action-thrillers, he has the feel for it. -
Overall a decent end to one of the better Bolan trilogies. All the extra characters added to the Bolan universe in this trilogy were given ample book-time to wrap up their plots/sub-plots. I liked the attention to character detail that was given in this book. -
This Bolan book rocked with wall-to-wall action from beginning to end. The Hydra concept makes for a neat story concept & the writer wisely doesn't give too much away on it in this 1st book. The villains were top-notch, Calhoun & Kushka are proving to be both formidable & interesting thus far. It's nice to see Grimaldi get such a big part & so much action for once. I'm looking forward to parts 2 & 3 of this trilogy. -
Not a bad entry into the Mack Bolan series. Bolan faces off against a Bond-like villain with a Dr. No/Goldfinger complex....LOL The action was top-notch, the writing was crisp, the plot held my attention, characterization was dead on. This made for fun thrill ride into the Bolan universe. I also liked the open-ended ending with the villain getting away to face Bolan another day. My only complaint was that the Russian agent(s) sub-plot & subterfuge was too predictable. -
A top-notch entry into the Bolan series and a strong middle novel to this trilogy. Usually the middle novels are the weakest in Bolan trilogies but that's not the case here. Van Cook's characterizations of both Stony Man strike teams was dead on. I felt like PF & AT were back to their old selves here. The author takes several different stories and weaves them together nicely to make one central story. I can't wait to read book#3 and see how it all concludes. -
I found myself both liking & disliking this book on many levels. It kinda made me think Bolan had encountered an X-Files type plot with '24' framework/format woven in. The diner ambush scene was way too long and showed itself for what it was - filler pages to make this a Super-Bolan. That's what cost this book some points IMHO. I liked how they hinted at the experimental ant-gravity tech being otherworldly in a subtle manner without making it too far-fetched. The bad guys were your typical MIB's but with a back-stabbing twist. All in all it made for a average Bolan entry. -
A decent Bolan entry by Fieldhouse, but nothing too spectacular. LIKES: 01.) Bolan actually had to scrounge for weapons as he had a difficult time getting them smuggled in. 02.) Great allies in this one - the twins were cool, the CIA contact was decent and he got to shag the hot spanish broad. DISLIKES: 01.) For an enemy with Bolan's skill level, ex-Special Forces also, Valdez didn't really impress me. 02.) I never really felt that Valdez was a major threat nor a threat worthy of sending Bolan after. -
A fast reading Bolan book....almost too fast at times. The Murder Inc-like group was a neat concept, but wasn't fleshed out as well or thoroughly as it could've been. Too many characters thrown into the mix too quickly at times it seemed. If this one had been made a Super-Bolan and more detail had been added it might've been a more gripping story. As it was it was a so-so Bolan book. -
A good solid lead-in book for a Bolan trilogy! I liked the many & diverse characters introduced in this one. I also like the many sub-plots started. It will be interesting to see how they all get woven together in the next two books. The pacing in this book flowed very nicely & evenly. -
Another decent Bolan entry by Jon Guenther. The action scenes were interwoven nicely into the storyline on this one. The '17 November' group along with all the corrupt players in the Greek govt. made for some interesting characters/villains. My only complaint was the female British spy charater was built up as an ex-lover of PF's McCarter, yet that aspect of her character never went anywhere....McCarter should've at least made a cameo appearance in this book. -
Great follow-up to 'Hostaged Vatican' story. This was PF in their heyday. The cover on the book was a masterpiece by itself. Couldn't put this one down until I reached the end. -
This PF novel had it all! This is the one PF book that should've been made into a movie. This story held my attention from beginning to end. Classic PF all the way. -
A decent Super-Bolan yarn with an interesting storyline. Very timely and hits close to home with the space shuttle aspects of the story for its day - the 1980's. -
Classic Able Team at their finest. They just don't write Able Team like this anymore I'm sad to say. Seeing this book again makes me miss the days of Able Team having their own book series. -
This super Phoenix Force book had it all! Although I was heartbroken over the death of Karl Hahn as he was hands down my favorite character in the series. I wish someone else on PF had been sacrificed and Hahn had been kept on. -
This one rocked from beginning to end. Great story premise! A must read for any true Bolan fan. Bolan was truly at his best here. -
A nice action-packed Mafia orientated story with a twist....the Mafia wasn't the #1 bad guys here. Plenty of action to keep the reader interested and the Camorra made for an interesting new enemy. Although there were some plot loopholes as mentioned above. Bolan constanly reminiscing over his old 'War Against The Mafia' days, yet no one in the mafia seems to remember those days nor the dreaded 'Executioner'. All in all, not a bad entry into the series at all. -
A decent enough entry into the Bolan series by Van Cook. Although all the spy teams field from various nations to find Pollard seemed a bit much at times. The sexual tension between Bolan and the female Russian agent made for a nice subplot. I was dissapointed that Bolan and the Shining Path leader didn't have a more dramatic finale confrontation using their perspective blades which were showcased throughout the book. -
Not your usual Executioner type storyline, but that's not a bad thing here. Bolan books like this published every so often make for a good diversity to the series. Mack Bolan himself was written very well in this story. It was great to see Johhny Bolan once more. The submarine vs. giant squid battle put me in mind of the old 'Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea' sci-fi TV series of the 1960's.....I loved it! My only complaint about this book was how it left alot of loose-ends unexplained and that may not have been the fault of the author as much as it may have been just how the book was edited. So I can live with that. I never fully understood why they had set such a trap to lure Bolan to the oil rig in the 1st place. I also felt this story was more of a foreshadowing story and had GAM stayed on with GE as a Bolan writer the squid cult would've been showcased alot more. All in all, an excellent(if not highly debated on MB.com) entry into the series. I give it 8 out of 10, had they explained or followed up on the loose-ends I would've given it a 9 or 10. -
Another excellent entry into the Bolan series by author John Guenther. Good plotwork and characterization in this one. The Israeli terrorists made for a diffrent spin on the Middle East terrorist situation and I hope they make a return appearance soon. The Colorado scenery and white-water scenes were top notch. I look forward to more Bolan books by Guenther. -
A decent plot with more than enough action in it. My only complaint was that whenever the traitors within the US Govt. met each other all they ever did was talking in circles and riddles. -
Part II of 'The Fall of the West' duet brought all the pieces together for an excellent conclusion. Kasner truly shines in this book as one of the top Bolan writers. This book gave the entire Stony Man Farm personnel a chance to show their talents. Kasner managed to get everyone down pat in this one. I hope to see J.R. Rust again one day in a Stony Man book(hint, hint). My only beef with this book was that Bolan didn't seem to remember his encounter with the Brotherhood of Assassins from years earlier. So much for that continuity thing. -
A decent opener to 'The Fall of The West' two-parter by Kasner. I like how this book was actually a couple stories woven into one book. However, I found Bolan to be a little one-dimensional in this one. Everyone else's characterization was right on. Able Team working on their own and Pol going undercover was great. I liked how this mission in part one leads to their next mission in part two. It was good to see Pol's character given more life in this one. Phoenix Force's mission seemed a little too short and accomplished too easy though. And I was astounded by how open about Stony Man they were with J.R. Rust, a CIA guy. I did like the Rust character and hope he's recruited into Stony Man though. I look forward to part two. -
The most unusual entry into the Bolan series I've ever read, but an excellent entry nonetheless. The action was fast-paced and furious. The gore level reach an all-time high. The bodycount was through the roof. Splatterpunk was an interesting twist. Many critics have said they felt this was more of Destroyer story than an Executioner story. I disagree! This was Mack Bolan entering the world of the X-Files. And that isn't such a bad thing, just a different take on the time-tested book series. Characterization was dead-on. My only complaint was that everything seemed rushed, as thuogh it was a Super-Bolan shortened down to the size of a regualr novel. It's too bad Gerald Montgomery is no longer writing Bolan books. It would have been interesting to see how he handled a Bolan mafia hit book with his writing style. -
Book #659 () 9/10 February 14, 2001I really like this Bond outing by Benson. Great follow-up to 'High Time To Kill'. This wasn't your stereo-typical 007 plot. Bond was a patsy for most of the story and was never really at his best. It was good to see a change of pace in a 007 story. Can't wait to see how the Union goes to war with 007 and SIS/MI6 in the next book.
-
A rather bland entry to the series. Not one of the better attempts. Too many villains jumbled together at first made for some confusion. Bolan's oath in this case didn't seem to fit in with the story. These cops were murderers. There was really nothing new or that hadn't done done before...several other times. -
A decent entry into the SM series. It was more like several stories placed together in one book. PF and AT had the better parts in this book. -
A decent entry into the Super Bolan series. The Cohorts' past made for an interesting storyline in this militia-type story. Story had decent action and pacing. But the ending seemed rushed and a little too short. Otherwise an OK book -
Another action-packed, globe hopping Chuck Rogers Bolan adventure. A very good entry into the series. You know when it's a Rogers Bolan book Mack is going to take a physical beating. My only complaint is how easily the CIA accepted Stony Man working this op. I remember the old Bolan books where the CIA would flip out when told to cooperate with the mystery man named Belasko. All in all a good Stony Man version of a techno-thriller. it had a more human feel to it than one of Clancy's over-drawn out tales. -
This was a decent Bolan outing. Waack made for an interesting character from Bolan's Nam' past. The ending wasn't as creatively done as well as the rest of the book was though. -
This book rocked, I finished it in one day. Wow!!! what possiblities here with this storyline. Top notch story and action from beginning to end. It will be interesting to see how a non-COMCON Bolan book by this author reads as well. -
Excellent globe-hopping Bolan adventure. The EMP weapon was a neat idea. My only complaint was there was so much here that they should've made this into a trilogy story. There was more than enough material here for 3 books. -
A classic Mack Bolan tale, one that is a pivotal turning point in the Executioner saga. -
A classic Bolan tale. Kick ass in fact. It was good to see Bolan go lone-wolf again. -
A decent entry into the series with a lot of good action in it. My only problem with this one is when all the mafia bosses are either talking or thinking about how the America mafia has been decimated over the years no seems to remember Mack Bolan waging a war on them. -
This book had possibilities, too bad they weren't explored. Just another run of the mill Bolan drug hit. My big beef with this book is it's continuity in the series. Tartaglia is portrayed as a reigning 20yr drug kingpin of Miami. In 20yrs the Executioner never went after him before, even during the mafia wars? There have been worse, but there definitely has been better also. -
A decent action-packed entry into the series. The tie-in to PF was nice too. Too bad Katz wasn't given a bigger role in this one though. The body count in this one was huge! Where is Black Dawn getting all the hired help from? -
Book #638 () 8/10 July 22, 2000A somewhat different story for a 007 book, but interesting nonetheless.
-
Book #637 () 8/10 July 22, 2000This was an excellent 007 book. Great locales, interesting villains, superb action sequences and a good story.
-
Book #635 () 8/10 July 22, 2000This was an excellent 1st book for Benson to start out his 007 series. He brought Bond into the modern times.
-
A pretty decent entry to the series. The story was a bit different than the usual ones. I liked the unique aspects of the story. The Kenabo Corp. tie was nice, I look forward to seeing more encounters with them in the future. I really like Chuck Rogers' style of writing Bolan & the Stony Man crew, he makes them seem real and very human. -
A decent entry into the series. Not as spectacular or earthshaking as #100 but good nonetheless. Let's hope #300 will carry on the tradition. -
A very good entry into the Stony Man series. This one was a good group effort, three individual missions working for one objective against the same enemy. Bolan, Phoenix and Able all had good parts in this book. The ending kicked ass Executioner style. -
This book rocked! An awesome entry into the series. This one had it all. Chuck Rogers really knows how to write a Bolan book. -
A passable entry into the series. It was nice to see Able Team get in on the action. Nothing too spectacular here though. -
This was a different, but very good Bolan novel. This was a more detailed undercover story that was very plot driven in place of action driven. It was good to see Bolan in an undercover role that relied more on him using his brains over his brawns. I particularly liked when the cartel thugs figured out who/what Bolan was...the 'Soldier' reference was neat, also the 'Mack Bolan' references were neat too. The story was written with a lot of foreshadowing in it, that can be used in future books. All in all, a 9 out of 10....good job once again, Mr. Kasner. -
A decent but somewhat different entry into the Stony-Man series. Not quite the follow-up to 'Breach Of Trust' that I had envisioned. The alternating storylines were interesting. Although, the blacksuit sleeper agent was for more interesting. Bolan seemed very stiff and uncharacteristically quiet in this one. It was as though Kasner was forced to write him in. The Russian mafia storyline would have done fine even if Mack Bolan wasn't in it. Katz appeared to be the big boss in this one, even Bolan seemed to jump whenever issued an order. Hope to see more of the KGB sleeper agent in a future novel. All in all, this was just a mediocre book. -
What can I say, this book had it all. Kasner really knows how to write them. I couln't put this one down until the end. Ironman rules!!! This one was a 10 out of 10 all the way. -
A BOLAN CLASSIC. THE COVER GAVE THE SECRET OF THE STORY AWAY THOUGH. MACK BOLAN IS AN ASSASSIN WHO IS TRULY IN A LEAGUE OF HIS OWN. -
NOT ONE OF THE BETTER SUPERBOLANS. THE WRITER SEEMED TO MAKE THE PLOT UP AS HE WENT ALONG, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO FOLLOW. -
NOT BAD, A PASSABLE ENTRY. GOOD ACTION SEQUENCES. I LIKED THE STRAHKOV REFERENCE. BEING A FROGMAN I REALLY LIKED THE FINAL BATTLE ON THE SEA. -
A so-so entry into the Super Bolan series. Nothing too spectacular about this one. -
A very decent Bolan outing. I always enjoy mafia stories. The papal assassin was a nice addition to the story, it made more interesting. -
NOT THE BEST IN THE SERIES BY A LONG SHOT. -
EXCELLENT STORY! EVER SEE THE MOVIE 'THE PEACEMAKER'? I THINK THE FILM PRODUCERS BORROWED A LITTLE FROM THIS BOOK. -
One the better superbolans. This one had everything in it; arab terrorists, ninjas, global conspiracies of doom, yakuza, terrorist attack on U.S. soil, nuclear menace and a confrontation with saddam. They need more stories like this one. Definitely a must read for any true Bolan fan. -
GOOD ACTION AND A GOOD STORY KEPT IT MOVING ALONG NICELY. I REALLY LIKED THE DALY CHARACTER. TOO BAD HE COULDN'T HAVE BEEN KEPT AROUND, HE WOULD'VE MADE A NICE ADDITION TO THE STONY MAN GROUP. -
Retribution May 21, 2000GREAT BOOK! EXCELLENT STORYLINE AND GOOD CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. A REAL INSIGHT TO THE CHARACTER OF KATZ. THE STORY WENT BEYOND THE USUAL SHOOT-EM' UP. -
Excellent start to what appears to be a very promising trilogy. This book placed more emphasis on laying the groundwork for Bolan's infiltration of the cult, story foundation and character introduction. The action was minimal in part one, but that's o.k. this book was very well written. A three SuperBolan trilogy, it's about time a Bolan technothriller was published. I look forward to part two. -
A very action-packed entry in a so-so trilogy entry. Definitely an action oriented book. The biker scene was excellent. Looking forward to how they bring this trilogy to a close. -
This final installment in this so-so trilogy was the weakest book of the three. It seemed that the author wasn't quite sure how he wanted it to end, so he dragged it out. The ending was a big letdown. A three book superbolan trilogy should have had a much bigger finale. I hope the next three book superbolan trilogy has a more explosive storyline. -
A kick-ass entry into the Bolan series. Wall to wall action with a great storyline. I liked Brognola having a more active part in this one. They attack scene on the Reno FBI office was first rate. Garth made for an interesting villain. Too bad the female FBI agent got killed so soon, I figured her and Bolan would hook up before the end of the book. What made this book all the more interesting was that I was on vacation in Nevada and California when I was reading it. -
I really liked this one. It had the feel of the Executioners of old. It was good to see Bolan returning to his roots and battling the mafia. A military trained mafia. Carvaggio ruled! I wouldn't mind seeing him return one day to help Mack out on some future campaign. Rainey really captured the essence of the Executioner in this one. The 'Case Closed' reporter subplot was a really nice touch to the story, it added some comic relief to the story. A definite Bolan classic in my book! -
This was an excellent entry into the series. Although, it seemed as though it was originally a SuperBolan or a Stonyman that was shortened to be an Executioner book. The VR storyline was intriguing, but seemed a bit vague on the technical aspects. The Able Team attack on the Farm was awesome. John Trent's appearance in the book was too short. The ending seemed rushed, like it had been shortened from a longer version. The story would have been better if lengthened to a bigger book. -
A fairly decent entry into the series. Grimaldi's teaming up with Bolan for most of the ground action was about the most standout part of the book. -
An awesome entry into the series by Guenther. A real 10 out of 10! This book had everything in it: -
NOT ONE OF THE BETTER BOLANS. THE STORY CHANGED FOCUS TOO MUCH. THE MOB HITMAN WAS THE BEST PART OF THE BOOK. -
A so-so entry to the series. The best part as far as I was concerned was that it took place in my home state at some of the places that I've been to. -
EXCELLENT BOOK. IT WAS GOOD SHOWING BOLAN TEACH THOSE STREETPUNKS A THING OR TWO ABOUT LIFE AND DEATH. -
NOTHING SPECTACULAR. A SO-SO ENTRY. THE ACTION WAS DECENT THOUGH. -
GOOD ENTRY INTO THE SERIES. LIKED THE CHARACTERS IN THIS ONE. LIKED EVERYONE'S REACTION WHEN THEY DISCOVERED WHO BOLAN REALLY WAS. -
GOOD SOLID ENTRY INTO THE SERIES. DECENT PLOT AND ACTION. MONICA JAKES WAS A REALLY GOOD CHARACTER AND IT WOULD'VE BEEN COOL TO SEE HER GO TO WORK FOR STONY MAN. -
ANOTHER EXCELLENT INSTALLMENT BY FIELDHOUSE. NICE TWIST OF IRONY IN THIS ONE, JEWISH TERRORISTS GOING AFTER ARAB TARGETSS. ACTION-PACKED ALL THE WAY -
NOTHING NEW OR SPECTACULAR HERE. NOT A BAD READ, THOUGH. PASSABLE ENTRY INTO THE SERIES. -
I thought it was a decent enough story. I liked the rescue team's journey through hostile territory. -
Excellent book. I really liked this one. The female character was a good addition to the story. Plenty of action kept the story flowing along nicely. My favorite part was where Bolan was recuperating at the woman's house and she overheard him talking in his sleep about april, johnny, stonyman. This was a good example of continuity as well as showing the ghosts and memories that haunt Bolan. -
A good johnny Bolan story with big brother Mack there to back his little brother's play. Not your typical executioner story. I really enjoyed this one. -
Not one of the better books in the series. The plot was kinda lame. -
A so-so entry. The plot jumped around a little too much. The first half of the book was just a bunch of chase scenes that didn't make sense at first. The Firenze female character could have been put to better use. There has been better tries, much better. -
Not one of the better entries in the series. The story was very disjointed. It was confusing and hard to follow at times. -
The trilogy premise was somewhat interesting, even though the plot involving fictional north & south European countries battling each other is somewhat been overused before. It was a decent start to a trilogy though. I found it a little odd though, that Mack was commanding a small army of U.S. forces in that country. A little too high profile for someone with the Executioner's M.O.. The Phoenix Force mission was really good. The Force back in their prime - hunting terrorists on foreign soil. Able team's talents were seriously wasted on the babysitting detail. All in all, I give it a 7 out of 10. -
All in all not a bad book. Able Team and Phoenix Force had the best parts in the book. -
A decent entry for a standard Bolan against a drug cartel storyline. I really liked the DEA RAT team assigned to Bolan, too bad they haven't been used again. The Florida Keys scene where Bolan stole the airplane and then landed it on the highway was cool. The prostitute girlfriend of Rocha was a mildly interesting character. A short, quick, and to the point ending. -
This book rocked, wall to wall action. Linnaker knows how to write Bolan books. I loved it when the ex-CIA merc realized he was going up against Mack Bolan. I also liked the subtle references to events of the 'Medellin Trilogy' that were mentioned. I only wished the lady Jamaican cop hadn't been killed off and had stuck around to help Bolan. I give this one a 10 out of 10. -
A real decent effort with plenty a macabre chills and intrigue in it. -
This one wasn't all that great. -
Another Florida hit, that was actually pretty decent. -
Another so-so entry that was typical of the mid 100's of the series. -
A so-so entry by Newton. Not all that exciting. -
A so-so entry nothing more. -
ONE OF THE BEST BOLAN'S OF THE 100'S. BOLAN WAS IN HIS ELEMENT AND AT HIS BEST. WHENEVER BOLAN IS ON HIS OWN HE REALLY SEEMS TO WORK THE BEST. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED READING. -
A so-so try that wasn't that good. -
A so-so entry at best. -
A real good entry to the series. -
A good entry that was fast-paced and action-packed. -
An excellent entry to the series that worked. -
Another good entry to the series as well as Bolan's war on drugs. -
This was definitely not one of the better ones. -
Excellent entry. The return of Val and Carboni electrified the story. This one rocked. -
A good Bolan story with plenty of action and intrigue. -
Whipsaw May 20, 2000A real decent story. -
A well-written and action-packed entry to the series. -
A decent enough entry to the series. -
A real good entry with Bolan doing what he does best. -
A real decent effort with more ties to Vietnam. -
A so-so southeast asia tale. -
A good Bolan book, that had some good Executioner history and character insight woven into it. -
A decent Bolan outing that was a good read. -
Just a so-so entry not much more. -
A good entry that was fairly decent and entertaining. -
Not one of the better installments. -
A good entry to the series. I liked the return of the automag. -
A chilling but good entry to the series with some creep villains. -
A REALLY GOOD AND WELL WRITTEN ENTRY IN THE BOLAN SERIES. I ONLY WISH THEY HAD FOLLOWED UP WITH THE TO-BE-CONTINUED LIKE ENDING. -
Decent but run-of-the-mill. Nothing spectacular. -
A typical adventure. Nothing new or spectacular. -
A so-so entry to the series. Plenty of action, though. -
A semi-decent tale. However, these new front-covers SUCK!!! -
This one was good, real good. The Executioner always seems in top form when he's fighting in his home-state. -
A good entry that was suspenseful right up to the end. -
A decent effort that worked. -
A very good Bolan brothers outing. -
A real good entry that was action-packed. -
THIS BOOK ROCKED! SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE 100TH ISSUE BOOK. SHOWS THAT EVEN MACK BOLAN HAS TO LIVE WITH THE REPRECUSSIONS OF HIS ACTIONS, OR IN THIS CASE ALMOST DIE FROM THEM. -
An intriguing entry in the series with a good ending. -
A decent entry but not much more. -
An excellent entry with plenty of action, story and awesome villains. -
A decent entry that was so-so. -
One of my all-time favorites. A great Bolan brothers story. -
A good entry that was both chilling and suspenseful. -
A so-so entry that was a decent read. -
A decent entry but nothing too spectacular. -
A good book with a good story and plenty of action. My only complaint-WHO THE HELL IS THE GUY ON THE COVER! -
This was a good entry into the series. This one had a good story to it. -
Blood of the Lion May 20, 2000Awsome entry to the series. Non-stop action. I really liked the part about the assassins being hired to hunt Bolan. -
A decent entry. The Vietnam ties is what really made this story somewhat interesting. -
I liked this one. It was a good entry to the series. -
A so-so entry that was just all right. Another cover with a poor depiction of Bolan. -
Decent entry to the series with some good action. -
A decent entry, nothing too spectacular. -
A so-so entry that was passable. -
A DECENT ENTRY INTO THE SERIES. NICE TO SEE JOHNNY BOLAN TAKING THE LEAD IN THIS ONE. THEY NEED TO HAVE MORE JOHNNY BOLAN STORIES. -
Another rescue mission story, but I liked this one it was o.k.. -
An excellent booh a twist to it. Bolan's oath put to the test. I really likk wited the trend that his early lone wolf days started having with him going after the mafia once again. -
Another good Bolan outing with busting up another summit of evildoers once again. Undercover Bolan at his best. -
EXCELLENT BOOK, GOOD STORYLINE. DOES BOLAN EVER GO ON A VACATION WHERE IN DOESN'T GET INTO TROUBLE? -
One of the all time best Bolan books ever. This is a definite must read for fans of the series. It ties the history of the entire books series thus far and Mack's ideology into one book. This is as much a character study of Mack Bolan as it is a story of one of his adventures. I reread this more times that I can remember. Each time I came away feeling like I knew the big guy a little better because I had looked into his soul. -
From beginning to end this one rocked! Bolan finally put an end to his war with Strahkov and avenged April. A definite classic. -
This one was one of my all-time favorites. This was a different kind of story that kept you hooked. -
This one was definite classic. -
A slam-bang action-packed entry. Very entertaining. -
An excellent Bolan brothers story. This one was very insightful to Mack's character and his relationship with his brother. A non-stop actioner. -
A decent read with an o.k. story. -
This one was good, real good. I highly recommend it. -
A decent entry to the series with enough to keep you interested. -
A definite Bolan classic. A good story with some real good villians. Also a good in-depth view of the Bolan/Brognola friendship, as well as a good character study and insight to Hal Brognola. -
A SO-SO ENTRY IN THE SERIES. MY LEAST FAVORITE OF THE TERRORIST WAR SERIES. -
ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE BOLANS. EVEN THOUGH THE COVER GIVES THE ENDING AWAY COULDN'T PUT THIS ONE DOWN UNTIL I FINISHED IT. REREAD IT QUITE A FEW TIMES AS A MATTER OF FACT. THE BEST TRILOGY EVER WRITTEN. -
A must have/must read for any Bolan fan. -
A BOLAN CLASSIC! MACK BOLAN RETURNING TO BEING MACK BOLAN AND LOSING THE JOHN PHOENIX GUISE SET THE STAGE FOR ALL FUTURE BOLANS FROM THIS POINT ON. ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES. -
A SO-SO ENTRY INTO THE SERIES. THE TANK SCENE DEPICTED IN THE COVER WAS THE BEST PART OF THE STORY. -
A decent enough lone-wolf story. The scintist/villian was a nice addition to the story. -
Beirut Payback May 17, 2000A very good Strahkov hunt story with plenty of action, a good location and a great book cover. -
ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE BOLAN BOOKS. BOLAN BEING HUNTED AND TRAPPED HAD HIM AT HIS DEADLIEST. -
Excellent story with plenty of action and a decent backstory to substain it. -
One of the classic tales from the KGB war days. Bolan on his own behind the Iron Curtain was fantastic. My favorite scene was when Strahkov was obsessing about Bolan while riding in his limo in russia and turned and saw Mack walking down the street, his reaction was priceless. -
AWSOME BOOK. PLENTY OF ACTION FOR ANY BOLAN FAN. I LIKED THE TIE-IN TO 'MIAMI MASSACRE', IT WAS GOOD SEEING BOLAN PASS THROUGH HIS OLD STOMPING GROUNDS ONCE AGAIN AND NOTE THE PASSAGE OF SINCE HIS LAST VISIT THERE. -
A GOOD ENTRY IN THE SERIES. WELL WRITTEN THE PLOT KEPT YOU INTERESTED THE WHOLE WAY THROUGH IT. -
I liked this one a lot. Good mixture of action and plot. Bolan at his best in a hostile land. -
A decent enough story, too bad the girls never made a return visit into the world of the Executioner. -
A decent entry. The addition of the Yakuza to the battle made it a slight bit more interesting. Then again, I always enjoy it when Bolan is battling ninjas and showing off his own martial arts skill. -
This book was so-so as far as I was concerned. -
A decent book, but not spectacular. -
This one wasn't half bad. Although, I don't really see Bolan and Able Team going against each other. They've been through too much together over the years. -
A decent entry with a good subplot. -
An interesting entry into the series. -
Tis one was excellent. The story had enough action, plot and series history to keep it moving along smoothly right to the end. -
This one was one of the best entries in the early lone wolf days. It had more of a mystery plot to it than most of the others do. -
Missouri Deathwatch May 17, 2000A decent entry with Bolan returning to his mafia roots and taking care of business once again in St. Louis. It was interesting to see someone finally calling Bolan's hand on his Omega bluff. -
This one wasn't really all that good. There has been better, much better. -
Good entry into the series, I liked the swampland action scenes. -
GOOD BOOK WITH A GOOD STORY. I LIKED SEEING BOLAN UNDERCOVER AGAIN. THE FIGHT SCENE WITH BOLAN VERSUS RUDI WAS WELL DONE. -
Decent enough book, nothing too spectacular. A fair entry into the series. -
One of the better terrorist war entries. Plenty of action in this one. The scene where he find Eve and how Mack handles it was very well-written. Bolan at his finest. -
A DECENT ENTRY IN THE SERIES. NOTHING SPECTACULAR THOUGH. -
Excellent entry into the series. This book came across well for a lot of reasons; the forshadowing here was subtle but good - the references to Johnny Bolan, the idea that John Phoenix may the target of larger conspiracy to eliminate him, R&R for Mack Bolan is impossible without a firefight and Bolan pondering the idea of being a lone-wolf operative once again. -
A GOOD BOOK WITH DECENT ACTION SCENES. -
THE VERY FIRST MACK BOLAN BOOK I EVER READ. ENOUGH ACTION TO KEEP ME COMING BACK TO THE SERIES FOR YEARS. ONE MY ALL TIME FAVORITE BOLAN'S. -
ANOTHER GOOD ACTIONER FROM THE HEYDAY OF THE TERRORIST WARS. -
ANOTHER EXCELLENT BOOK. -
A good action-packed story with a good villian. I liked seeing the return of Paradine. -
A CLASSIC BOLAN ENTRY FROM THE TERRORIST WAR DAYS. -
A DECENT READ. GOOD TO SEE APRIL IN THE FIELD WITH MACK. -
ANOTHER AWSOME ENTRY IN THE TERRORIST WAR BOOKS. PHOENIX FORCE FIGHTING ALONG SIDE BOLAN WAS A NICE TOUCH THAT MADE THE STORY. -
CLASSIC BOLAN ALL THE WAY. ONE OF THE BEST IN THE TERRORIST WARS. A MUST READ FOR DIE-HARD(HINT, HINT!) BOLAN FANS. -
GOOD ENTRY INTO THE SERIES. GOOD TO SEE ONE OF THE RANGER GIRLS ONCE AGAIN. -
EXCELLENT BOOK WITH PLENTY OF ACTION. I LIKED THE MAFIA TIE-IN. -
GOOD BOOK. LIKED SEEING A MORE PERSONAL STORY IN THIS, IT WAS A NICE TOUCH. -
NOT TOO BAD. PRETTY STRAIGHTFORWARD WITH PLENTY OF ACTION. -
GOOD ENTRY IN THE SERIES. ENJOYED SEEING BOLAN RETURN TO THE PLACE THAT STARTED IT ALL. -
ANOTHER GOOD ENTRY IN THE TERRORIST WAR SERIES. I LIKED THE CHARACTER EXAMINATION OF MACK IN THIS ONE AS WELL AS THE USE OF THE BOLAN SERIES HISTORY THAT WAS INTERWOVEN INTO THE STORY. THE LATER BOOKS DON'T ALWAYS GIVE YOU A SENSE OF MACK'S HISTORY THAT THE EARLIER ONES DID. -
A standard action storyline but with a very significant ending. Or should I say a new beginning. -
A decent entry with some neat ghosts from Bolan's military past in it. -
An okay entry into the series. The mob's little army of commandos was the most interesting part of the book. -
Another excellent installment into the Executioner's war against the mafia. Good villians, characters and action in this one. Bolan takes a bite out of the 'Big Apple' -
A decent enough entry, but not as action-packed as the previous ones. -
A so-so entry into the war against the mafia series. It was okay, nothing too spectacular. -
A kick-ass entry into the series. Some nice undercover/role playing on Bolan's part in this one. A must read for those interested in the war against the mafia saga. -
GOOD FOLLOW-UP TO THE 'DEATH SQUAD'. THE NEW FACE WAS A NICE TOUCH. IT SET THE STAGE FOR FUTURE UNDERCOVER ROLES FOR BOLAN DURING THE MAFIA WAR. LYONS AND BROGNOLA WERE ALSO A NICE ADDITION TO THE STORY. THE 'PORTFOLIO' OFFER BROUGHT A SMILE TO MY FACE, SINCE IT SETS THE STAGE FOR THE STONYMAN OPS IN THE YEARS TO COME. A TRUE BOLAN CLASSIC. -
A decent enough entry into the earlier part of the series. It was neat to see some of the foreshadowing that in later years would be Stony Man SOG. Too bad about the girl though. -
THIS BOOK ROCKED!!! I LOVED ALL THE CHARACTERS OF THE DEATH SQUAD. IT'S TOO BAD THAT THE DEATH SQUAD COULDN'T HAVE SURVIVED. IT WOULD'VE BEEN AWSOME SEEING ALL THE MEMBERS OF THE ORIGINAL DEATH SQUAD WORKING FOR STONYMAN. A MUST READ FOR ANY DIE-HARD BOLAN FAN. -
I'VE REREAD THIS ONE COUNTLESS TIMES, IT GETS BETTER EVERY TIME. THE ULTIMATE BOLAN CLASSIC. OF COURSE, IT'S THE ORIGINAL! THIS BOOK STARTED IT ALL. A 10 OUT OF 10. A MUST READ FOR ANY BOLAN FAN.
