Black Dawn Rising

The main villain that got away in the Phoenix Force novel Amazon Strike by the same author, is back and he has another plan for his terrorist agenda. The remnants of the Nazi regime are resurging under Mohn's leadership, and a very deadly virus is soon to be unleashed. Enter Mack Bolan to save the day, and there is nonstop action to kick off the story in the Chicago area. If blazing action without much setup or storyline is your thing, then the first half of the book will provide all you can handle. And who doesn't like seeing Nazi's getting blown away by the bushels? The action slows down later as the Black Dawn group is wiped out and the focus moves to New Mexico. The best part of this book for me was the New Mexican portion, as some interesting character's were introduced, the interplay between them, and the setting moves from big city to the outback of the countryside. Almost giving an old western sort of vibe, the second half of the novel was more enjoyable, and the final assault on the Nazi base was excellent. I liked how Bolan used the terrain to his advantage, good tactical moves to help take out the bad guys.

Good, suspenseful book with nice twists and turns. I really enjoyed this one for a change and it held my interest to the end all though it did slip a bit downhill on the last remaining pages. The plot was good and there was a small puzzle and a brain teaser for Bolan to work on. I would have though wanted to have the main characters made a little deeper but you can´t ask for everything nowadays. Read this one and get lost in a world of maze and mayhem. This book should warrant your attention for a small time. (Iceland – 2007)

Well I must admit this title didn't grab me. Ok Kurt is back but he hasn't learnt much has he? hmm what to say plot has been done before. storyline has been done before. The action scenes are great BUT hmm nothing TOO great so.... AND I plodded through to the end. Personally I have read MUCH better titles from this author than this.

This was a good story, in spite of what seemed like an overly excessive body count. I thought the tie-in to the original PF story was a nice touch. Had some great suspense scenes in there as well.

I thought the plot of this book, other than Armageddon virus, wasn't al that orginal, but what made the bok work for me was the pacing and some of the characters. There was some genuine suspense in parts of this bok, rather than just a high body count to the exclusion of much else, as is sometimes the case with these boks. I haven't read the PF bok to which this is a sequel, but now I want to, and even though I haven't read it, I do think it's cool that the sequel was made. I think this is the first bok I've read by Michael Litaker, and I look forward to reading more. I wasn'a s impressed as I was with, say, Mark Ellis or Devid Robbins, but this was a pretty good BOlan entry.

Pretty decent book, lots of action. A good quick read!

A decent action-packed entry into the series. The tie-in to PF was nice too. Too bad Katz wasn't given a bigger role in this one though. The body count in this one was huge! Where is Black Dawn getting all the hired help from?

Enjoyable...I liked the tie in with Phoenix Force (even though I do not read much in that series). Nice change from some of the others in the series.

Yesssss! The return of a villain from PF: Amazon Strike. And what an action-packed entry this was. It was also a continuation of that book. I've waited ten years for Kurt Mohn to resurface and was not disappointed. A few of the action scenes might have been forced, not having any real merit except to pile up more bodies. Other than that, great book!

This is cool. I normally don't care for the neo-Nazi plotlines, but this takes it and ties it back to a previous Phoenix Force mission (now that's *really* going back in time!!!), which was pretty darn cool. I enjoyed this one a lot.
