Silent Invader

Quite a neutral story, neither great nor bad. There are some good action scenes involving Able Team, including Grimaldi swinging out of a helicopter onto a cargo plane. The Phoenix Force sequences didn't thrill me that much, and Bolan's was a typical shake the tree to see what falls out reaction. Big co-incidence where Bolan just happens to be in the general area when the bad guys start being bad guys. There seemed to be a chapter missing inbetween ch 23 and ch 24. We have Bolan shaking the tree to find the main kingpin, Bolan learns the location and then......we jump to ch 24 where Price gives a massive info dump about intel that Bolan has just learnt after locating and killing the kingpin! There were a further few little niggles, but nothing really worth noticing. So, it failed to excite, but it didn't bore.

Fair read again in this series here. Equal time is given to both of the teams plus Mack and there are some very good action scenes here but overall I would have to say that this title didn't grab me I'm afraid. The plot is just okay I reckon and none of the villians or hardguys introduced did much for me. BUT MUST SAY the ending is Mack and probably worth reading this title to get to that point in which is not a bad title in any way. Up to you.

Not a bad book. Had a nice plot and some good action scenes. Able's part in the plot didn't seem that important, but the mid-air sequence was done extremely well. Then they just disappeared from the book. Major disappointment. Phoenix and Bolan's arc were okay. Didn't really like Bolan having such a big part, but this being an early StonyMan, I think that was the norm.

I felt very conflicted over this book. While the action scenes were a lot of fun, the plot itself was lacking. There was some initial investigation that told them who was behind the attacks, but when it came down to it, after nearly 300 pages, I still didn't know *why*. That, we find out in a few pages after Mack captures a man and questions him between scenes. Would someone who knew so much about the plans really break that easily? And by the revenge scenes at the end, I still had no real feel for the villains, so their consequences were less than satisfying However, the whole setup of how the chemical weapons were stolen was fascinating, and the action was breath-taking. I just wanted a little more *plot* holding the action together.

One of the best Stony Man book I've read. I've had a subscription for over a year and I have a few Stony Man. Mabye it's because it's one of the first ones I read but I raelly enjoyed this perticuler book. Wombat - 35

A very good entry into the Stony Man series. This one was a good group effort, three individual missions working for one objective against the same enemy. Bolan, Phoenix and Able all had good parts in this book. The ending kicked ass Executioner style.

I like this one a lot. Stony Man has to do some investigative work *before* the mission kicks into high gear, plus there's a hurricane to contend with, plus a bit of humor in the right places...lots of explosions too. :-)

Great entry by Tim Somheil. Pheonix was great in this one. The humor was well placed and made it interesting. My complaint from an otherwise great book was the very last line in the book. It was all building up to this moment, with Pollari getting all jubulant. But if you read it, I think that: "THEN the gas started to flow." will make a little bit more sense and flow better with the context. That's all! Scale of 1-10, I say 9.5.

An interesting topic of chemical weapons disposal is discussed here, also i found the parts about JACADS informative. I didn't know that disposing chemical weapons was so technical. And it helps that the technology really helps. Just one of the many things i learn from reading Stony Man.

I loved this book. To say that it kicked major butt is an understatement. Not only do we have a very palpable threat, and a determined, skilled, and powerful enemy, but we have one who actually doesn't fold like origami when the Stony Men make their assaults. And speaking of which... one thing I truly loved about this book was... a) It had a complete solo Able Team adventure in it, b) It had a complete solo Phoenix Force adventure in it, c) and It had a complete solo Mack Bolan adventure in it, WITH a combined Bolan/Phoenix assault thrown in at the end to fill out the end of the book. Not only that, but Able was back in action the way I loved seeing them, working on the fringes, listening to what the cops are hearing, then stepping on toes as they charge after their enemies. Calvin James got some great spotlight time, and the assault made during a hurricane, that was magnificent. I don't see why the writer has to be such a benevolent God all the time. Throw in things that would make an assault harder. (I'd love to have Able Team stalking a desert hideout, then realize that they're plop in the middle of a rattlesnake migration. Or maybe Bolan and Phoenix tackling an enemy force in Kazikhastan (sp) when an Earthquake shakes it ALL up.) Again... great book. Can't wait for part two.

OK without giveing away the ending what mack does to the two main bad guys in this books is what the executioner is all about, most of the time mack has to kill the bad guy in self defense at the end of the book, but not in this one he lives up to his executioner name just like he used too. Besides that this was a cool book with a great story and yeah haveing that hurricane during the firefight made that scene alot more exiteing
