The KGB makes an offer to the European Mafia that it cannot refuse: create a single worldwide syndicate in return for an unlimited arms supply. The Russians believe that such a crime force would destabilize the West, paving the way for a Soviet takeover. Mack Bolan poses as a German hit man to smash the evil alliance before it takes root.

Pretty much with the rest of the reviewers here this title has a lot that annoys the reader. Throughout the read I was constantly shaking my head that the Big Guy just wouldn't be doing this. The KGB are trying to amalgamate different Mafia families into one united force to cause massive problems for Western governments with the promise of unlimited weapons. Would the families go for it I wouldn't have thought so and I would have been expecting the Big Guy when he gets wind of what is going on to wade in and kick the shit out of their plans. But no he infiltrates under the flimsy guise of a German Hit man to try and bring down the plot from within. The ending section with the volcano when he is unmasked is the biggest load of crap going to read in this series. Come on as has been said talk about and act of god. Nah not for me lots of better titles to read in this series than this gem avoid.

I wanted to Scream at the last 30 pages. The book until this point was rather good. The execution was tight especially with the idea of Mafia/KGB getting together. Although I thought Camarro and Mafia were mortal enemies. I hate, hate, hate contrived Act of God scenes. Mack is in trouble, two thugs holding him when boom right at that moment the volcano decided to erupt. This is a Bolan novel not a ERB novel. You can get away with that in a ERB novel (Edgar Rice Burroughs). To me that volcano exploding right at the ideal moment was just dumb and horribly unrealistic and kind of insulting to the reader. Couldn't the volcano erupted before Mack was caught? Or create a seperate storyline where Mack has to go to an area where a volcano was erupting to save someone? Not as an act of God ending. The villians were pretty good and it was interesting how Mack figured out how to "kill" the French cop at the conference. A 7 until the volcano erupted. A 1 for the ending/Act of God. A 4 overall.

I'm a Leslie fan, but this one was kinda weak.If it was the first Bolan I read, maybe I would have enjoyed it, but it was below average compared to the series in general.

A so-so entry that was passable.

A GOOD BOOK. THE COVER ALONE WOULD PROBABLY MAKE ANYONE INTERESTED ENOUGH TO READ IT.

An average effort from Leslie.
