Mountain Rampage

For me, a 7 star rating is average, and this is a 7 star rating. I can understand why some may not like it, but I thought this was a decent book. While there was nothing that was extraordinary about it, there was a relatively good plot, likeable characters, well-thought out antagonist, and many messengers of death striking flesh. Bolan is sent in to investigate the Colorado mountains where a madman -- frequently tied to trouble, but never proven to be responsible -- is attempting a drug that quickly kills its intended target. Once Bolan arrives on scene, he penetrates the site and methodically takes out the villains one by one ... it true Bolan fashion. However, he doesn't get out clean, so the evasive maneuvers at the end keeps the strain on the readers through the final pages. Hence, this is a solid, yet unspectacular effort.

Well quite a few reviewers didn't like this one but I have to say that I am not in that group. Not a brilliant title by any means it was certainly entertaining and mostly exciting throughout with probably my only criticism that the title is quite short where it is easily read in one or two sittings. Still if you read these titles for action and fast paced reading I reckon you would probably enjoy this offering I know I did. Recommended reading in the series.

I agree with Professor X, I felt like hitting my head against the wall a couple of times while reading this one. It felt like the author wrote this one from start to finish in one sitting, without taking a break, or without a story or plot -"Okay, write a Bolan book - 1-2-3- GO!" anyway thats how I felt ... Eh Kay says - some other people really like this one.

Wow I am shocked people liked this book. I strongly disliked it. 1) The action scenes were great especially how Mack tried to penetrate the nursing home. The shootouts and even as Doug pointed out the long range scenes were very good. 2) The scientist was very evil and rather fun. A good mad scientist kind of lady. 3) I didn't buy the premise of turning people into automotons. Yes drugs have shown you can make a person into a near catatonic state and have them be zombie like. The next step to be able to give them a drug then based on the drug give them person a task then they will do it until they drop. Drugs can make a person into more readily willing to follow. But have a drug that will make them perform a simple task like sweeping the floor until they drop I have problems with this. Especially the driving zombie. Doesn't driving require thought and decision making? 3) What I hated the most about the novel was that Mack seemed to have no regard for the zombies. He knew they were innocents yet his bombings in the compound probably killed some zombies. Of course not once did he think about trying to rescue the zombies. He also didn't try to get them help once he was rescued by the old man and his granddaughter. He should have immediately have used shortwave radio to contact Hal about sending cops and medical staff to the nursing home. Instead he spent a while getting fixed up.

For a short, fast book, it was full of a lot of action and adventure, I enjoyed it very much.

The Executioner blasts apart the mountain strongpoint of villains conducting inhuman experiments in this great action story. This one has great action from the first chapter all the way until the end. No complaints with the amount of action scorching the pages of this book nor with the crackling writing of those action scenes. Good stuff here. Bolan seems more like himself than in the previous 3 books and it's nice to have the big guy back. He plans and executes his insertions in this tale just like he used to. With his 44 AutoMag and his Beretta 93-R he packs an M-1 sniper rifle this time around. I really miss the way Don Pendleton used to actually show Mack preparing for his long range attacks with ballistics charts and range calculations; it added a nice touch of realism and made you feel Bolan wasn't just a lucky shooter, that he used skill and experience and worked at it. The villains here are plenty villainous and their plot and deeds are evil. They die by the score. What else can you ask of villains in a Bolan book? The good folks are good and actually even interesting this time around. Nicely done by the writer. I really enjoyed this adventure so I'm giving it 8 stars.

MAN I liked this one!..I'm a sucker for the mountains. Forget the other places Mack Fights..I like it on home soil. North America has the best landsacpes for stories..Mountains, Deserts Damn I love it. It was a great read. Slowed down a bit in the middle ( For my taste ) But then just started back up all of a sudden and it was action,Action ACTION!!..Great read. 3.5 shotgun shells outta 5...ahhh what the hell 4 SHELLS!

I grabbed a couple dozen Executioner titles at a library used-book sale when I was in sixth grade, recognizing immediately that they held hours of fun within. This was the first one I read, while on a canoeing trip with my father and sister. (I dropped it in the Rainbow Reservoir, but continued reading unperturbed.) As such, I have a real soft spot for it, and any praise I bestow upon it bears the risk of overinflation. Having said that, this story progressed by the numbers-- brutal, efficient, and quick (dig that large type!)-- like "The Bastard" himself. Great stuff!

Like Mertz, Chruchill is a writer who can really excite me with his action sequences. Outstanding!
