Not great but not bad either. Took a very long time for the brother to come toghter. Nice to see Bolan back kicking Mafia ass. Wish there was more of John back ground from high school to now. For me the book, just dragged a little to much. Must still a great book to read.

Good book. I give this book 8 stars I deduct 1 star for those Annoying Hard Corps Girls. That part of the story brought the book down a bit. I was glad when Johnny Killed Angela at the end. I deduct 1 more star for the beriut battle scenes. Anybody that knows anything about Special Operations knows that the Seal's on the mission would have operation command and not some Ensign who never had combat Experience. In real Life Johnny wouldnt have even been on the mission. I know that this is fiction. Other that those 2 things the book is really a good solid read. 8 stars

If this one could have lost that stupid girl power group of Mafiosas, we're looking at a 10-star read. As inane as those chapters were, this is still one of the best Bolans I've ever read. Johnny and Mack re-united. Come on! That was great stuff. Their interaction felt real and Johnny's battle experience was pulled off brilliantly. I loved how the book pulled no punches in showing just how scummy the Mafia could be and Johnny learns a hard lesson as a result. Also, Johnny and Mack work well together. Just a joy to read. Great action. Mostly great dialogue and characterization (ugh, those girls!) make this one a top-notch read. Well worth hunting up a copy. I thought it was great.

Well, I really did enjoy this book. Nice to see Johnny in the mix and have the novel focus on him for the most part. The introduction in Lebanon was pretty great. The only thing that really brought this book down was Angela and her band of friends. What on earth was that about? I can't believe it made it to print. Chet must have been low on the word count and needed some filler to bring it up to the necessary amount for print. I think this book would be a 9 or 10 if the 50 or so pages of Angela stuff had been chopped down to the basics. Should have completely removed the Hard Corps stuff. Would have worked better in the 300-320 page range without that subplot.

By far the best title I have read from this author. Terrific read here with Mack going back up against his old nemesis the Mafia after the events at Stony Man base and tracking a drug pipeline which eventually takes him to San Diego where his brother is located. Some excellent writing where not only his brother Johnny but his fiancee and future father in law are written into the ongoing storyline. Very smooth reading here with the big guy back to his best and one standout section for me was the tossing of the live WP grenade to Lupo and the following description of what happened to her. Mack in this title comes across as a little robot like as he climbs the ladder back to "The Mover" but it is enjoyable reading. The rejoining of the Bolan brothers does not take place until very late in the title and whilst not only providing some very fine reading especially after Sandy is located also gives an insight into what will happen between the two brothers in the future. I loved it and if not for the previously mentioned Angela stuff I would have rated this a ten. Highly recommended reading.

This is probably more a '9' with an asterisk, because I was willing to overlook some of the weak spots (most of the bad girlz storyline and some of the writing) as I revelled in the telling of a decent story that takes place in my stomping grounds of San Diego. Similarly, while Johnny's scenes with Angela didn't ring true, I like the device of getting to see Mack through his eyes. Also, Karl is well-written and there is an overall great sense of the Bolan saga throughout. Not a must-read, but worth tracking down.

I'm finding it difficult to know how to review "Resurrection Day". I like the book taken as a whole but there are some damned annoying things about it. The good stuff: very good action writing this time, which is a nice surprise after this author's previous Bolan books. The action here is handled well for the most part and the work of Mack Bolan as he follows the mafia drug pipeline is especially welcome, reprising the old Bolan way of taking the initiative and keeping his enemies off balance. The characters are mostly good with a couple glaring exceptions. Karl is especially excellent in a supporting role and Sandy is OK too. Johnny Bolan is probably just about as he should be. He's Mack's younger brother, not Mack himself, so he is a little less able in the book. But he seems right to me. The plot worked well enough and succeeded in getting Johnny into the story and into Mack's fight without seeming too contrived. Only one plot thread felt wrong but it felt really wrong. And I have to say that I enjoyed the San Diego locations because I live here and so much of the book took place in areas I know. The bad stuff: Angela Marcello and that whole plot line. P.U.! Angela was bad enough but the crowning stench was her little band of friends, the "Hard Corps". Girlish giggling optional. These adolescent girls never seem real, never seem interesting, never seem plausible. Their motives are the thinnest tissue of convenience and their exploits make no sense at all. Without their presence this book would be a 10 star normal sized Executioner book. February 1985 seems to have been some kind of grand era for juvenile and annoying groups of girls with improbably silly names: the Hard Corps, the Savannah Swingsaw. Perhaps it's best just to be thankful that Able Team didn't encounter a band of latte loving criminals calling themselves the "Zippity Doo Dolls" in this very silly month. But the bad stuff (the "Hard Corps") can only remove 2 stars from this book. It was a book I'd been looking forward to for a long time and it turned out better than I had dared hope. 8 stars.

this was the first Bolan book I ever purchased. I really enjoyed it. The book is simply full of action and adventure, and it is a genre I have always enjoyed. The death of Sandy Darlow was truly gut wrenching, but it served to emphasize the kind of evil Mack and Johnny were fighting. I enjoyed the war scenes toward the beginning with Johnny. I liked the character Angela Marcello, and the way she bucked the male dominance of her atrocious father. I liked the pictures of the characters in the book on the front page. I personally feel that this one should be filmed for the big screen. Sam

I really hated this novel. This could have been an exceptional novel but Cunningham blows it with little things and rather juvenile scenes. 1) Manny Marcello tells Angela that the mafia would never allow women to handle anything in the business. Yet in Chicago a woman Jay Lupo is the drug czar. So what is it? Why was Lupo the drug czar? Also why was there a picture of her with 7 rather major characters? She really was never physically described and was in 2 pages and mentioned by name only once before. Chet really could have explained a bit why a woman was in charge of drugs in Chicago. This was so blatantly inconcistant and sloppy. 2) The Angela storyline was annoyingly juvenile. The scene where she and the girls are together in her bedroom and she takes off her blouse to get comfortable and she reveals a pink bra. This seemed to have been aimed at horny 13 year old boys. Also why did she go to Acalpuco with her galpals when she just insisted to father to take over one of his clothing shops? Shouldn't she have been at her shop and from there discuss with her galpals how to earn extra income? Also why wasn't her shop mentioned again? I know she burnt down her competitors store. Sloppy. With the drugs she got why didn't she think that would be a great way to launder drugs through her shop? That would really have proven how good she and her galpals were instead of the one-time payment from her dad. 3) Johnny Bolan is a shmuck. Lets see he is in love with Sandy. Yet he goes swimming with a topless Angela? Why didn't he say "Angela you are very pretty but please this is not appropriate and I really must leave". Also he knows how dangerous the mafia is so he doesn't get in touch with Leo to ask him for help after Karl is attacked? Also at the end Johnny tells Mack that Manny's office is on the second floor of his home because that is what Angela told him. Huh? I reread those scenes with Johnny and Angela nowhere did she say that. This is a kind of line that really should have been in. Extremely sloppy. When Johnny found out that Angela was Manny's daughter and Manny was in the mafia why in god's name did Johnny tell her this. Stupid idiot. His idol worship of Mack was good but his really stupid handling of the mafia made me think he learned little from Mack. Why he didn't immediately call up Leo to ask his help after Karl was attacked was recklessly stupid. No way could Johnny handle the mafia alone. The turkey scene with Sandy was disturbing. I don't know why they just didn't kill her in their apartment then kill Johnny when he arrived home. 4) The scenes with Karl I liked the best. This was just an average Joe yet because he accidently witnessed something he should not have seen he is plagued by the mafia. Karl was the type of person who Mack fights for. 5) The Lebanon scene was also fantastic and thought it was very well written. 6) Mack well he killed the guy with the scar way too fast. He was absolutely ruthless even killing that old woman drug dealer. I think it was also sheer luck that he didn't shoot at Johnny. I thought in many ways the attack of the drug line almost seemed by the numbers. I just thought in many ways it was a sloppy novel and the juvenile writing at times - the ones involving Angela especially - took down the book. I also hated the entire Angela storyline. I give it a 3 only because of the Lebanon scene and Karl Darlow a character I really thought that came across as a well written victim of the mafia.

I was very pleased with this book, it had what I expected from a Big Bolan story. This is Cunninghams' best Bolan, and I still think this is one of the best superbolans after all these years.

This story was great.I really liked having Bolan's brother Johnny in the story.His brother should be in a lot more of the stories from time to time.Johnny can always help his brother out and Mack won't have to have all the pressure on him self.

A classic Mack Bolan tale, one that is a pivotal turning point in the Executioner saga.

This is the Bolan they don't write anymore. If you haven't read it, do what you have to do to get it and read it- it's the best of them all.

Wow!!!! This book is a definte "Super-Bolan" I read this one every now & then beacause its so good. I really like Johnny, he & Mack work good together. I wish they would bring him back into the series.

A very good book and a must read for Johnny bolan fans. A good deal of Johnnys background since the mafia wars is told here. Also I love the author's anti-hero take on Mack. In many of the books he is just shown as some sort of Rambo like hero crushing the bad guys. In this one he really lives up to the name "Executioner" he is VERY cold blooded in the way kills the drug dealers

In my opionion, this ranks a close second to Stony Man Doctrine. This is a hell of a book. The Bolan history in this book is looked at and written very well. Bolan kicks some ass in this! I mean, look out!! The death of Johnny's girlfriend is the ultimate gut-wrencher. And yes, Mack is a cold one in this entry. A must read for any Bolan fan.

This one was exceptionally good. It didn't have a whole lot of Mack Bolan in this one, but there was one special scene that you don't see a whole lot. The part when Mack and Johnny meet face to face on the freeway was touching. That was the first time that I saw Mack actually showed some serious emotion and shed a tear. This was a exceptional one in the Super Bolan series.

What can I say that y'all haven't said already? This is a definitely keeper and it's a gut-wrencher. It's interesting to see Mack from Johnny's eyes, especially knowing that when he was younger, he had a serious case of hero-worship.

One of the things that I liked about this book, is how it shows the strength of the whole Bolan family. Johnny is shown her with alot of the same traits that has gotten Mack through his war. Good book, the ending choked me up.
