Renegade Agent

I enjoyed the book and really like Krauzer's writing and stories. In this one, Bolan confronts a double agent and his evil intelligence group. It had a James Bond-ish sort of feel to it, which is probably another reason I like this book. That, along with some characters from prior books, and some well-written action sequences, and this is my favorite title from the previous few books. Renegade Agent also presented a rare time that Bolan gets wounded, and we see it impact him throughout the story. I thought these scenes were once again well written.

Wow where to start I did not like this one at all. The author has spent plenty of time setting this one up I reckon but it fails big time. Maybe a lot of the problems with this title is it is too complicated to actually work out what is going on most of the time. Characters introduced are neither here or there and the action scenes which are concentrated to the end of the title are only hmmm okay I guess. I struggled through it and could not recommend it to you to read in the series.

I have to agree with the other reviews. Besides Bolan's shoulder wound, there was nothing noteworthy about this book. The villians were cardboard cutouts and the action was, well, boring. The addition of Toby Ranger didn't help; her constant nicknames have always annoyed me, and I was just hoping she would get killed. I've liked Krauzner's previous books, but this one was a dud.

This wasn't a terrible book but was definetly not one of the better ones... There were a few things that kept me interested in the book like how Bolan overcomes his torn muscle while in combat but all in all, I found the book somewhat boring and didn't run as smoothly as alot of other Bolan novels. I wouldn't read it again.

What can I say ? Instead of Bolan turning that body-shredding hellfire on terrorists, he should turn it on this Novel ! What a snoozefest ! I laughed , I cried, I was completely annoyed. This was not the Worst book ever, but man was it close ! I finished it two days ago and I already forgot everything that happened in it ! Avoid at all cost !!

What a waste of time!!! Slow moving tale of a CIA man gone rouge cashing in his job for easier money and faster live. This has never “been” a plot before!!! However, this plot never worked in the book as it failed miserably in every sense of those words. This book didn´t flow correctly as way too many pages were used having Bolan running around doing nothing and describing his weapons over and over again along with constant flashbacks to past relationships and friendships. It is like the book was being extended to 180 pages with very little material to cover those pages in reality. This could have been a decent 50 page short novel!!!! The basic part of the plot was interesting but nothing was done to explore that one in any details and also there wasn´t any character building in the book The result of this will be in the end that the reader looses all interest in the book and in general shouldn´t care less as to how it will end. Why wasn´t there any other female agent in the book instead of Toby Ranger. Man, she is annoying with her constant lame name calling every second line or so. I wonder why anyone would want to rescue a person like that. It was strange to have the mega villain yet there wasn´t anything done about his character, way of thinking and general interaction with his men throughout the book. Frank Edwards actually didn´t have any appearance in this book til after page 150. Strange thing!!! Basically I don´t understand why this book was released as it didn´t do anything for me and apparently for other readers also. A strange writing.......so to put it very simple, stay away from this time wasting book (Iceland – 2006)

Steven does not know the word FLOW. This book in some ways is kind of a reunion novel and flashback book/advertising of Pendleton novels. You expect maybe one/two paragraphs like Fieldhouse does for reintroducing stable characters in each PF book. Krauzer goes on for 2/3 pages about the past interpersonal relationships. Tommy Anders his being at Stony Man made no sense except for to do a flashback on how he knew Mack. Toby Ranger once again how she knew Mack and like the Anders part brought references to the Vegas novel - book 9. Excellent book but already read it no need to rehash the novel . Gadgets mom wow a recluse and lived with her cats. Well good for trivia. I did like how Krauzer used the injury Mack got (bullett through fleshy part of shoulder) and kept referencing it as a hindrence to the rest of his campain. The references of Mack barely able to move the arm deep into the book was very well done and believable. His somewhat bizarre comparasion of English soldiers in the American Revolution and the mafia was weird to read. That was a head scratcher. Krauzers refering to mens shirts as blouses was also odd. Makes me wonder if he is from Europe. Never read an American writer using the term blouse for shirts. Blouses only use for women not men. Nothing to do with the review I just found it odd. Just too many places where the novel is suddenly halts with either flashback references or commentary that just hurts the flow.

Of all the 140 plus Bolan books I have had the pleasure of reading so far, there is still only one book I hated. This is it. I dont't know how anybody can rate this boring piece of crap more than a 1 star.NOTHING happens in this terrible excuse for an action book.I can't believe this was written by the same guy who wrote Terrorist Summit.That book was loaded with action and Mack kicked butt from start to finish. Not here. I couldn't even fall asleep because it took too much energy plodding tediously from word to word in this stinker. Nice cover art though.

Bolan works to bring down an outlaw intelligence outfit and the renegade American agent who created it. Along the way he meets an old friend and expends many, many rounds of 9mm. Plotwise this was pretty good, with a rival professional and his cadre promising to match up pretty well against The Executioner. Bolan gets wounded early on but it's more of an annoyance than an actual hindrance. The author talks about the wound on nearly every page but it never actually makes any difference in the story. Maybe he just wanted to show how tough Bolan is. The action is OK, but not great. All the talk about "9mm whizzers" in the book doesn't disguise the fact that Don Pendleton's talent for writing action sequences is missing. Not that there isn't quite a bit of action in this tale: there is plenty. And it isn't really too badly done (except when the author's lack of weapon knowledge shows through.) It just isn't all that exciting or gripping. For fans of weaponry note that Bolan uses the Beretta 93R here for the first time. For fans of the old familiar faces there are cameos by April and Hal (of course) as well as Gadgets, Tommy Anders and Toby Ranger. Actually, Toby Ranger is the reason I dropped a star off of this rating. She just annoyed the devil out of me during this book. She constantly addresses Bolan as Captain Cavalry, Captain Quick, Captain Hard, Captain Courageous, Captain Grim, Captain Incredible, Captain Tough, Captain Death, Captain Stubborn, Captain Blitz, Captain Numbers, Captain Wonderful and Captain Fire. The whole thing got very tedious, making me wish he'd waited to rescue her until the end of the book. Overall the book gets 5 stars from me. It's OK but not a first rank outing for Bolan.

Decent enough book, nothing too spectacular. A fair entry into the series.

I THOUGHT THAT THIS ONE WAS DEFINATELY COOL. PLOTWISE, IT HAD SOME NEAT SCENES IN IT. THE ONLY THING THAT WOULD HAVE MADE IT BETTER IS IF FRANK EDWARDS WERE IN THE BOOK SOME MORE. I GIVE THE COVER A THUMBS UP.

This book along with others was a great one. I've only read a couple of Bolan books, and they are great!

This was the first one I read. I was in the 8th grade and thought it was pretty cool. I have been reading them since this one in 1982. not the best but a pretty good read.

Not the greatest, but it's passable material.
