Conflagration

The story is good, but I didn't feel as drawn into it as other reviewers were. Bolan falls into the adventure by chance as he becomes suspicious of a load of guys driving around Washington DC who then turn out to be terrorists intent on assaulting an office block. This leads Bolan, and eventually everyone in Stony Man to be on the hunt for Roger Kabel, arms dealer, who has somehow chanced upon the ideal terrorist weapon. The scenes where the weapon was used were very good. However, I found that the jaunts to Brazil and Malaysia a little dull after so much action in the USA. It is a good story, but it didn’t engage me as much as I thought it would.

Another terrific read from this author where I was thinking at the start it maybe wasn't going to be as good as it ends up being. The device in use by the villain is different and a good idea and from whence the thing is activated for the first time and the reader becomes aware of how powerful this thing actually is the title takes off. Some excellent action scenes to be read as well as some excellent descriptions of what is happening when the devices go off. Fine read highly recommended.

A very good entry in the series. The action is top-notch and the pace rarely lets up, with Bolan running all over both North and South America battling a villain who is cunning enough to always stay one step ahead of him. "Conflagration" is also a good choice for readers new to the series (as I was when I read it) since it features appearances by characters from Stony Man, Able Team and Phoenix Force. I don't know what else to say about this book. It's outstanding. Read it.

This is, in my opinion, THE best book I've read yet. The villian is almost unstoppable, constantly pulling off his murders right underneath Bolan's nose. Even more, you can feel Bolan's frustation at not being able to stop the atrocities. Even Phoenix Force, Able Team and Mack together were unable to stop Kabat. And do not forget the justice that was dished out at the end.... Kabat stabbed, shot AND burned alive. Follow it up with his ally's home being burnt to the ground. That was true justice!!! I'd give this book an 11 if it were possible.

From the cover this sounded way too far-fetched but the writer pulled it off. Awesome actions scenes and great use of Able Team. I agree with whoever said this could have been stretched out into a trilogy. I was ready for more!

I had a problem with this one - the evil bad guy is rarely featured! I was waiting and waiting to see him become more involved with the unfolding events but he never does. He's here and there but I found these appearances rare, brief and light. I can't complain about the firefights though, especially a shoot-out in the middle of a neighborhood between Bolan, a hit squad, and Russian secret service agents. Lots of lead, burning cars and crumpling bodies.

Excellent globe-hopping Bolan adventure. The EMP weapon was a neat idea. My only complaint was there was so much here that they should've made this into a trilogy story. There was more than enough material here for 3 books.

This book was one of the best i have read in a while. It had everything one could want. Russian agents a bad guy you can despise and hate at the same time who is as smart as Bolan is ruthless.

This one was a rough one. Bolan finally faced an enemy who fought him mentally, physically and emotionally. Most of the times, the atrocities that Bolan faces are just too abstract (except for Executive Action). This time, we have Bolan in stitches, covered in bruises, bleeding and fighting every step of the way to stop a madman who has frustrated and flaunted murder in front of his face every step of the way. Gadgets had an outstanding role in this one, in not one but two great scenes. And, I agree with Hawkins on this one: "Able Team gets all the good jobs." Phoenix Force shows up in a three-way team-up, and for once just ends up sitting on its hands while Able burns with righteous fury. :) Oh yeah, and Mack did a load of butt-whoopin' with Katz by his side. Best Superbolan since Retribution!
