Fire Sweep

I have been critical of the last two titles from Mike Newton for non original plots and the changing of names to protect the already published but. THANK YOU Mr. Newton.......... BACK to his best the title is FANTASTIC. The plot is completely original and places Bolan in a position to combine two possible threats against three if not more possible enemies. The characters introduced in this title are really something special and if by some chance one of the publishers happens to read this the character of Monica should be seriously considered from inclusion of a future title. Read this book it is fantastic. my two bobs worth.....

I give this title as much as an 8 more because of originality as anything else. Mike Newton steps away from his standard plotline he has been using more lately and tells a good tense intrigue filled story set in Norway. Bolan has an ally, as shown on the front cover, and she helps Bolan throughout his campaign to help a Czech scientist defect to America while dealing with a gang of neo-nazis. Not much action to start off the book, but I hardly noticed because of the interesting storyline developing. I liked the ending car chase, I found it to be an exciting cap to this adventure. The only questionable thing about the book was I wasn't too clear on Rostov's motivation to capture the defector, since it was a major part of the ending, but was really not his primary motive. But it was nice to read nazi's getting their ass whooped, and there is plenty of that here. I found this novel to be more of a throwback to the books Newton wrote during his better writing period, like in the mid to late 80's. Even though Fire Sweep isn't among Newton's best novels, I think this book is worth picking up whether you like his books or not.

This is how I want to have a great Mack Bolan book!!!!! Suspense, great plot and a major puzzle for Bolan to figure out as the twists and turns of each player of the plot makes the book an outstanding reading from the first page to the last one. The mixture of the CIA, KGB and the neo-Nazi group fighting the same battle but for a different reason betraying one another as it would suit each others needs makes the plot one of the most interesting ones I have encountered lately in a Mack Bolan book. The ending could have been a bit different with the neo-Nazi group finding out that the Russians were using them and there would be a shoot out between the two parties. I also wondered at the end if the CIA part of the plot was only related to the American Embassy in Oslo or if it was higher up the chain of command of the CIA?? It was a great twist to have Monica as Bolan´s sidekick and what a woman............!!!!!! I wonder if she will appear in another Mack Bolan book later on??? The only negative issue about the book is not related to the story but the back cover of the book but there it is stated that the story takes place in the Netherlands which is wrong as it happend in Norway which is a bad oversight on behald of the puplisher!!!!

GOOD SOLID ENTRY INTO THE SERIES. DECENT PLOT AND ACTION. MONICA JAKES WAS A REALLY GOOD CHARACTER AND IT WOULD'VE BEEN COOL TO SEE HER GO TO WORK FOR STONY MAN.

Just a decent effort from Newton. The car chase in the finale was sort of boring.
