Breach of Trust

Well the title is set a couple of years after the rejection of Communism in Russia at a time when the Russian Mafiya is gaining a stranglehold in the country and spreading out. There is one person (unknown to the Russian government) who is the leader of the Russian Mafiya who is currently in the process of pulling all of the major crime networks in Europe together under his umbrella. The Russian government realising they cannot stop/control what is going on request help from the US President and this results in Able Team, Phoenix Force coupled with Mack and Jack travelling on the assist. Pretty good plot here and the ongoing storyline cements the title. Information forwarded by the Russian government on known Mafiya operations results in the successful capture of one of the offenders and the closing of an operation. On a roll with further information supplied by the Russians the Team's then attempt a drug buy which results in the Politician and Gadgets being "killed" when it goes sour and Lyons going apeshit. It is obvious that they have been set up as Pol and Gadgets were just shot down with no warning of any sort and Lyon's just manages to escape the ambush with Mack's help. The main villain is an ex Colonel of the Russian forces who was discharged after being discovered running a drug pipeline out of Afghanistan but he is a devious little prick let me tell you. He knows all of the tricks, has a computer genius on staff and facilities where he is that rival Stony Man farm itself so it is a formidible challenge for the farm. Lots and lots of good reading here with the personalities of the farm Hal, Barb and the Bear especially with what happens after Pol and Gadgets go down and how Hal and the President are shut out of the loop when the Teams and the Farm go rogue to avenge the loss of their comrades. One section involves a French Policeman whose family is kidnapped to facilitate the release of members of the Union Corse and when the plot is stopped by Phoenix and Mack and he is assured his family is safe he does something pretty deep for a copper let me tell you but it is wonderful reading especially "hit me good as I need blood and bone okay". Add in a plot by sections of the Russian military who are planning a takeover of the government, a mole inside the main Russian ministers office which is a bit of a surprise, beautifully told by the author keeps you turning the pages. Highly recommended reading.

This is the mid-series high point for Stony Man and Michael Kasner at his very best. The premise is striking and the storyline involving the deaths of Pol and Gadgets and the kidnapping of Hal are real is gripping and hard to put down. A real insight into the inner workings and thoughts of the Stony Man crew in particular the often under used Barbara Price. Great villains and plenty of action with a slam bang finish are just the icing on the cake for this superlative entry in the series. This volume really goes a long way to showing why Kasner was a personal favorite writer back in the day! I just re-experienced this fantastic foray into frenzied fiction via the recent Graphic Audio adaptation...terrific stuff and incredibly well done! Top notch!

The Russian mob is attacked by Phoenix Force. Considering that a lot of their members are former KGB and GRU types, they know exactly who they are up against. So they set a trap up for them. Except only Able Team gets burned. They get burned hard. Harder than ever before. That Unomundo business? Since nothing changes the continuity in these novels anymore, this entry does give sweeping insight of a what if scenario. What would happen if Able Team died? Embarrassed and fighting mad, Phoenix Force and friends drop off the radar screen and use some sweet guerilla tactics to extract some payback. Because of his resources and allies, Rostoff has more insight and is therefore one of the more dangerous villians they’ve ever faced. He hurts them, and wishes to keep on hurting them. This is a struggle of ruthless people who won’t stop until the other is dead. They trap, ambush and screw each other up with improvisational attacks. It is also a struggle of corny language. The Hawkins inspired Southern witticisms would embarrass even Jeff Foxworthy. I also learned about the Stony Man religious doctrine and teachings referring to their “god of war.” Whether the god of war is Ares, Mars or Mack Bolan... by omitting their war god’s name and keeping it lower case letters, Stony Man appears to be practicing nondenominational worship. One of their truisms: The war god generally favors good causes. Um, yeah. I’m still trying to figure out who is this Lord of Illusion. And don’t get me started on cyberZen. Also Barbara Price should have been fired for her actions. There, I’ve said it.

One of the greatest Stoney Man books ever! A friend lent me the book, i have never read a Stoney Man before, and i finished it in a few days, i counldn't put it down! I will definatly be looking for more Stoney Man in the series!

I agree with Ray and Alice on this one. This book is a 10!! They should rename this book "Lyons wants BLOOD" Micheal Kasner is the best writter in the Stony Man series.

I really liked this book as it looked as though blacanales and Shawrtz were dead. Lyons wants blood for his comrades in arms. I liked how he and Mack worked together on getting some payback for them. The scenes with Mack holding court with mafia kingpins along with katz was priceless. The assault on Rostoffs fortress was very interesting. Plus i really liked the way Lyons took out Rostoff after finding his friends would never of thought Carl would go for a knife fight. this book I highly recommend to anyone and everyone.

I really enjoyed this book. It had just enough of everything...plotting, good dialogue, action, suspense...and I've always been a big Able Team fan, so it was good to see Ironman and Da Boyz get focus. I ended up giving this one to a friend to get him hooked on the Mack Bolan series, and he loved it. Been giving him my books when I've finished them ever since. Unfortunately, I'm about a year's worth behind, so I need to catch up!

This book ROCKS. Everyone's here, as with most Kasner novels, but it's the suspense and depth that you'll remember.

GREAT STORY! A sure classic. Be sure to pick this one up and read it - one of the best. I thought the Mother Site was awesome! What a great finale. Ironman really is one scary dude. . . . There also was no ending on a dime with this book - great character development and some incredible sleuth work and firefights. But. . . was there a nuke at the Mother Site? A desperate nuke-attempt at the end mighta topped it all - but still I can't complain. This was a more than solid entry. Great job!!!!!

This is one heck of a great book!! Need I say more? Kasner does a wonderful job with the action, suspense, mystery, and detective work. Who dies? Read it and find out for yourself! (sorry)

I think its great to see the team working together! I love all the Stony Man books!!I especially like to see Grimaldi in the picture!

Fantastic entry from Kasner. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and was probably as shocked as everyone else about the deaths of the two team members. I loved the final attack against the Mother Site as well as having all the characters represented in this one. It was great to see Kissinger fighting w/ the team. This is one that will be reread again.

What can I say, this book had it all. Kasner really knows how to write them. I couln't put this one down until the end. Ironman rules!!! This one was a 10 out of 10 all the way.

This was the first Kasner book I have read and I was truly impressed. Excellent in every area.

I hate to be the odd man out here, but I found this book to be a disappointment. I did enjoy it in some areas. The first 50 or so pages was very tense. The last 50 or so pages was decent, but everything in between moved in fits and starts. I thought there was a lot of talking and not enough kick ass scenes. I wanted Lyons to really go ballistic like in the early Able books, but it didn't happen. Overall, it was average.

I GOTTA ADMIT THAT I TOTALLY AGREE WITH GUNSLINGER ABOUT THIS BOOK. I WAITED LIKE SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE DID EXPECTING A WHOLE NEW OUTCOME IN THE SERIES FROM HERE ON IN. INSTEAD NOTHING HAS CHANGED AT ALL. I GUESS I'M ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO WOULD LIKE ANOTHER #62 BOOK TO BE RELIVED AGAIN. AFTER READING THE OPENING PART ABOUT LYONS HAVING TO GET TO BOLAN, I THOUGHT FOR SURE THIS WAS GOING TO BE A BREATHTAKING 21 GUN SALUTE TO SOME GOOD HEROES. SOME OF THE ACTION WAS GOOD BUT I GUESS I EXPECTED SOMTHING TOTALLY DIFFERENT. THE FINAL KNIFE FIGHT WAS COOL THOUGH.

Man, to clear the pallette of the last mediocre reviews... this one rocked... it had everything! The Russian Mafia knowing that there's something big and nasty and out there to munch on it: PHOENIX FORCE. Katz back in the field, in the middle of the action. Able Team International! Katz and Phoenix working together again. Stony Man actually working most of the time without cooperation. I know the title reads Mack Bolan: Stony Man... but Mack could have been excised from this particular book, and his space given to Manning and Encizo, though. But, nothin's perfect. This came close though.

A very good story, I read it in a day. I would have liked to see time zones on the cahpters (ie Tuesday 14:00 hrs - Prague), I think that would have added something to the tension. I did find McCarter's comment on page 81 a bit strange "...there are more than enough problems in the world that directly affect the States...". Really??? What happened to good old Blighty, mate?? Is America the only country in the world??? Otherwise this was an excellent story.

Just finished this one. This one had agood ending. The killing of Rostoff was kind of rushed though. Overall, I give it a 4 1/2 out of 5. The claymore part in the alley was also cool!! I'm becoming a Kasner fan!!

Just reading the cover blurb almost made me quit the series and Mack Bolan all-together. I had to find out what happened. Note to all about this one...read it completely before you panic.
