Fastburn

Not the strongest title in the series, but I don't think it is as bad as some of the reviews. It's decently written and has a decent enough story. More entertaining than some of the other run of the mill entries. My only gripe is the ending. It's not a bad idea, but it needed to be fully fleshed out and given some more detail. It's written as though the author was called up last minute and said "you need 20 more pages" and he cranked it out in 5 minutes and that was that. Not a bad idea, but poorly executed ending to the title.

Wow some serious bad reviews for this title but I didn't see it that way. First time author so I reckon some lee way is entitled for a start and the title is not such a bad read. Another title featuring our favourite villain Strakhov so another added bonus here and the overall plot where the Russians are trying to recover Japanese Bio weapons from the second world war was believable. There are many sections to like here and as has been mentioned the wolves and the helicopter pilot stands right up there. The bitter cold and the way he goes about trying to survive the night was excellent. Also some very good characters introduced as well. Action scenes were plentiful and well spaced throughout the title but one star deducted for the finish. Terrible finish what was the author thinking? he had a fine title and stuffed it in the last twenty or thirty pages. Alas he has not seen fit to have another crack at the series so I am not sure who missed out? I enjoyed the read and would suggest you could do vastly worse in the series.

I liked this book. I did not swallow the premise at all about the bioweapon that was developed during WW2 that could kill Chinese but not Japanese. I thought a) during WW2 that technology that could do this would have been impossible and b) I can't imagine that a disease like this could be created. You do have to really pay attention since the narrative jumps all the time from character to character. Especially when they all start converging in the Chinese caves. I really liked Mun and Hu. They really were interesting character Mun a tight seemingly cold female spy who wanted to destroy the virus and Hu the helicoptor pilot determined to save her. Think 70s Italian movie Swept Away. Sorry thats what I thought of. I assume that lived happily ever after or was he the guy with no feet that was given the disease? Not sure. I assume he had frostbite in his feet and lost them. Vesh was also a good character a poor slob/villian that you just couldn't help but cheer especially against the Russian Strakhov. I think a chapter was needed to fully explain why Mack was so drugged out at the end that he gave a speech stating he was no long an American citizen. This was a horribly written section. The last 20 pages. Suddenly boom he is in a hospital drugged out 2 pages later he "awakens" and goes on a killing spree/arson and saves the day. The action was sparse. Hu and the wolves were the best action part along with some of the cave scenes. A good first try. Would have liked to have seen him write more.

This book is getting bad reviews, But I remember this being an action packed adventure that was pretty good, but not standing out from the pack. The authors writing style is a little strange, maybe thats why some people didn't like it, but I thought is was a decent book.

This one hits the bottom. The blurb on the back should have been a warning: "China--a stinking place to die in!". The book has the worst writing in a Bolan novel. The narrative jumps from character to character by the paragraph. The most interesting character isn't Bolan, it's a Chinese helicopter pilot. Why we care about him is a mystery, and his fate is unresolved at the end. There is a reason that this author only wrote one book in the series. Even at that, he wrote one too many.

The story wasn't that great, but the cover was nice

This one wasn't really all that good. There has been better, much better.
