One U.S. pilot in exchange for three Bulgarians convicted of spying. It was a routine swap between the superpowers - until the American vanished on his first night in the States. Mack Bolan is brought in to track down the fugitive flier and bring him back to Langley for debriefing. Bolan pursues his quarry on a trail loaded with lethal surprises and makes a startling discovery: the pilot isn't a man on the run, he's a man on a mission. Though the Executioner's mandate is clear, Bolan knows he'll be returning alone.

Excellent title which I came oh so close to rating as a ten which I can't remember having done so for so long. From the start this one dragged me in and held me to the ending. A prisoner exchange between the KGB and the CIA goes to plan but there are some in the CIA and Justice departments wondering why the Russians agreed to release one American stealth pilot they had been holding in exchange for three seemingly obscure nobodies. These worries come to pass when the American pilot now on US soil after the exchange does a runner from his handlers and is nowhere to be found. Why is the Big question and the Big Guy is called into the case. Further questions seem to be answered when the pilot is identified not as himself but a highly trained KGB assassin and apparently his target is none other than the POTUS. Enter a trail of intrigue, dead ends, near misses on catching the assassin where the Big Guy is struggling to figure out what his game plan actually is. Perhaps the assassination attempt was a fake as could a highly trained assassin fire four shots and hit nobody of consequence. The plot thickens where two possible targets are revealed but which one or both? Add in a green CIA agent who displays so many good traits during the title I felt like applauding when he actually survives the ending but hope that he will feature again some time. That's enough you can find out what happens when you read this gem. BY A STREET this is THE BEST TITLE released by this author in the series to date WELL DONE! I absolutely loved this one and I haven't even mentioned the BRILLIANT ending. Do Yourself a favour and grab this one to read.

This book follows true classics of Code of Dishonor, Blood Testament and Eternal Triangle. Ooops doesn't quite reach these books heights actually not even close. I did like this slightly better then Meltdown. Hal seemed so off in Meltdown that it really hurt the book. Does McDade know about Able Team and Phoenix Force? At one point Mack wonders who will continue his fight when he is gone. He mentions his brother Johnny and then he stops as if thats it. AT and PF both are his legacies. Also Mack thought of Hal as his only friend. What about Leo and the AT members? Bear? People who knew him for a long time or later friends like PF? The story was pretty dragged out. Meltdown was far faster moving. A lot had to do with whats going on in the mind of the characters. I liked the main villian and Collinsworth. Which more time was spent with that traitor in the CIA. In 1987 would the president drive pretty much unprotected in the streets of Dallas and in the same spot that Kennedy was shot? I believe the president would have ridden in bullet proof limos. Also not having Secret Service members on the roof tops of ever building? That was unbelievable. Also if you are going to through the trouble of shooting at the president why not actually shoot him? If the blame could have gone to the Executioner the president being dead would have helped the KGB. This part stretched all believability. The ending in the two compounds in New Mexico were pretty good and I did enjoy Albright. A basic rookie to death and mayhem and his reactions were believable. Would have made a good contact point in the CIA for the series. He did live. I also liked how Mack made mistakes. He should have listened to Albright instead of dismissing him. Yes Mack did lose his temper but his judgement flew out the window in that scene. Pretty funny when Mack heard Albright tell him that he waved to the jeep of Russian agents. Slightly above average novel. It probably would have been better as a 180 page novel. Pacing was not good.

An average Bolan entry. I thought the potential for this book was never reached, my hopes were up for it when I read the back cover but I was kinda let down. It's not bad, but it puts an end to the longest streak of way above average books in the series. (86-101)

Unremarkable book. Bolan is after a KGB agent, but spends a good deal of the book arriving too late to do much. Some duplicity makes for a good twist or two, but not enough to sustain interest. The most unreal scene in the book involves a presidential motorcade, in Dallas, exactly where JFK was killed. The Secret Service neglects to secure what Bolan identifies as the best place to shoot from. And after the attempt, Bolan and the KGB agent are both allowed to exit the building. Way too unbelievable.

I fought to get through most of this book. The ending was pretty decent though. I liked his ally, though at the moment ,I can't remember the guy's name.I especially liked Bolan's last comments.

A definate classic. I wish all the books in the 100's could have been this good. I loved the end when Bolan said concerning the traiter, "And I wonder if I'll ever be in his shoes, if a day will come when knowing why I do it won't quite matter enough anymore. And if that day comes, what then." 'Bolan's question hung in softly lit office, right there for all of them to consider. Nobody had an answer.'
