Code of Resistance

Calvin James is AWOL on a remote tropical island trying to help the local natives from greedy developers trying to rape their island of its natural resources and the Big Guy is dispatched to bring him home. Yeah right. On arrival after being sunk off shore by the bad guys and losing all of their weaponry Bolan and his allies regroup on the island and try to figure out how to stop a slaughter of the local natives. I really liked the cache of half a century old Japanese weapons that they come across and how they try and salvage what they can to use against the bad guys. Facing overwhelming odds everything that happens seems to be realistic and possible where you never get the feeling crap that is just over the top bullshit. Liked the characters introduced and there is quite a number especially some of the bad guys and also enjoyed the turning around of the Merc at the end. Very good read and recommended.

Hmmmm….what should I say about this book? Confusing is one word with the constant shifting of the story line to and from various elements of it, confusing because of Bolan´s involvement in a war that should not appeal to the US government, confusing why he didn´t just get Galvin out there, confusing why Calvin was not more active pre and post Bolan´s arrival…..and more confusing but let´s stop here though. The book was like a rocket without any guidance system. The females in the book had little role. The spy was only as lustful satisfaction for Bolan and the other one with her amazing description early in the book actually didn´t mount to anything after that. The mixture of professional mercs and pirate thugs was a great contradiction in fighting style and way of mind. Still in the end the book was in many ways a confusing one, too confusing to keep ones interestthrough the book. (Iceland – 2008)

If it wasn't an Executioner novel, I'd call this the Magnificent Seven in the Pacific. This seemed similar to another Rogers novel that took place on a small island where corporate greed threatened to take over. I found most of the book enjoyable, with pretty good action scenes. Having Bolan leading an army (of natives) was okay, but those sorts of plotlines never seem to knock my socks off. I did like how they had to use outdated Japanese weaponry from WWII against state of the art hardware, but Burdick seemed rather flat this time around, and Calvin James was just "there". The final confrontation was weaker than in previous Rogers novels, but at least Bolan didn't get put through the grinder this time.

What can I say Chuck Rogers has done it again with this Bolan outing. Rogers really has a grip on the longstanding character that is Mack Bolan, he knows how to bring out the best in Bolan's character even in the worst of situations. I liked seeing Red once more, although I was saddened on how things ended for him. There were some great characters in this one both good guys & villains. The action scenes were intense and had the reader on the edge of their proverbial seat. Chuck Rogers would be one of my top 3 picks to write the screenplay for a Bolan movie.

OK. Don't quote me, but this may be the best book I have ever read. This story was totally amazing from start to finish, and the characters were all extreemly cool. Keep up the good work boys.

This is my first executioner book and as you can see by my rating I shall be reading more. Infact I just ordered some. I thought the depiction of the island and the back story was excellent. The bad guys were a mix of professional and thugs alike which was extremely entertaining. I don't have enough other story knowledge to comment on the use of Calvin but I thought as a stand alone book at least you were not left wondering ever, who had what role. I fully expected a trashy series pumped out once a month quick read but instead got a powerful short novel with insight, intrigue and action. Great Job!

Ill do this mathematically: the rating will start at 5 stars and ill add or subtract from there... +1: The realism of the fake island was great. I liked how it gave a history and explained it a bit. Even had tie ins to WW2! +1: Bolan's allies were great. I liked the fat smuggler, Hithiti, and the Marine, "Red". -1: Calvin James was actually a very small part of this novel, and seemed to have absolutely no authority. +1: the enemy actually had a command structure and some plans and backup plans. -1: they re-did a few moments, like helicopter attacks and things. -1: the spy/reporter was badly handled and not a big part of the story. +1: the revolution was cool, since they really had to scrounge for any weapon possible and even had to make some pretty cool ones themselves. +1: the scale of the events was incredible, and the warlike parts let Bolan show his command strengths. -1: Bolan got injured too much at the end, yet still won in combat. +1: it was really unpredictable, and I didnt know who would live or die and what would work or not. +1: attitude. I see that there is not a limit of cusswords. I counted 39 uses of the "F" word. lets see...1+1+1+1+1+1+1=7-1-1-1-1=3. so that would mean I add the 3 to the already existing 5, equalling an 8. very good book.

Chuck Rogers pull out all the stops in this slam bang all action all the time entry. As usual, Bolan is up against nearly impossible odds in a freedom fight on a small island in the Pacific. Thankfully with the help of Calvin James, some islanders and the usual battle tested skill he's shown time and again, Bolan (with some help from Chuck Rogers) pulls it off smashingly. The summer blockbuster didn't begin with Star Wars III, but right here.
