Really disappointed by this entry to the series. I really expected a lot more from the first book in the KGB War. Very disappointing. But I guess this was a real hot back then. 3 stars for this book. -
Read rhis one when it first came was published. Its funny how I can remeber this one. I thought the premise. Of the family of assasins was interesting. Thats the only reason I give the book 6 stars. -
Not Mike Newtons best work, but passable. I do like white supremacist stories especially in the current political climate were in today. Like some of the recurring characters too. I give this book 7 stars. -
Didn't care for this book at all. Before I realized that there wewere ghost writers I thought Don was still writing Bolan at this time. And I was wondering how one book could be good and the next could be so bad. Anyway not a good story at all. Thought the cover was interesting though. 3 stars for this mess. -
This was my very first Bolan book that I read. It was a good introduction for me. I was hooked big time after I read it. Liked the mini weapons in review. Story was ok I really didnt know all the characters to well. But I did like the writing. I was 16 what do I know! Really liked the cover though. Thats what really hooked me in. -
This is the second stonyman novel that I have read. When gold Eagle stopped putting out Phoenix Force books I pretty much stopped reading gold eagle and started reading military non-fiction books. That being said Im glad that I read this. I'm a huge Fieldhouse guy. And I'm glad that this is his book. But this book pales in comparison to Stonyman Doctrine. But I still give it a rating of 8. -
This is a Review for the Phoenix Force Story " Terror In Warsaw" This book was a disapointment for me. Ive read all the Phoenix Force books out there. Being that this was the last stand Alone Phoenix Story I was expecting more. I did think the David Was the stand out Character in this book but other than that it was pretty standard stuff. -

This is a review for the Able Team Story "Secret Justice" I really Like this Story. And being that this is the last stand alone Able Team book published by Gold Eagle I though that the author did a great job. I only read a handful of Able Team Books. My 2 favorites are #7 Justice by Fire and #8 Army of Devils. Those 2 books represent to me what Able Teams all about. This book to me was written in the same vein. Really enjoyed it. 9 star effort. -
This is a review for the Phoenix force story "Dirty Mission" For me this is the best story in the book. It was nice to be reminded that although they are some of the best fighting men on the planet. There still fallible human beings And make mistakes. I give this book 8 stars for that dynamic of the story. And the enteraction between Calvin and David. I was sad when Dexter was killed. It was good to see his character again. -
This is a review for the Able Team Story "Death Lash" I really Had a hard time getting through this book. It did not hold my interest at all the best part of the stoey for me was the fi al battle. I really liked the two deputies. They were a nice addition to the story. Everything else was pretty flat for me.6 stars -
This is a review for the Phoenix Force Story "Hell Quest" Thos was a good story and I enjoyed it very much. There were a lot of different factions after the same target.I thought it was funny that one of the Guys makes a comment about how unwise it it to get have a sexual relationship while on a mission. I think to this point Calvin's gotten laid more times than anyone else on the force. Liked the Battle scene between the goverment troops and the rebels. Liked when rhe force used the Tanks against the goverment troops. Enjoyed the story. 8 stars. -
This is a review for the Vietnam Ground Zero Story ZEBRA CUBE. I didnt like this book much. I found it confusing and hard to follow. To much back and forth from the states to Vietnam. To much going on here to keep track on. I tried to have a open mind but it just didn't work for me. 6 stars -
This is a review for the Phoenix Force Story "Survival Run" This is a really good story. Fast paced and alot of Action. Good Supporting characters like Ben Sharon. This story reminded me of Firestorm. Good to see Jack And Dragon Slayer too. Great stuff. 9 Stars. -
This review is for the Able Team Book Razorback. I give this book 7 stars. I thought the story was pretty good. I bad guys were bad. If Able Team just waited the bad guys would have killed each other. I thought the sheriff was scum, and I wish he would have died a slow agonizing death. I thought Gadgets meeting Up with his Vietnam war buddy was a little far fetched. I think that part of the story should have been written differently. All in all pretty standard stuff. -
I dont know about this book. It was pretty lame to me. The whole Doctor North dynamic to this book was pretty lame. Am I supposed to belive the a college professor can take over tactical control of a hostaged crisis because he knows the president of the united states? And Falco just seemed to me to be the run of the mill scumbag. Nothing special about him. This book could have been so much better. -
As a stand alone book it's a good story. In context to the rest of the series there are a lot of holes in it. Some other reviews have stated how could the death squad be stateside when Mack comes for there maybe 3 weeks after the events in this book happen. And wasn't chopper on his deathbed from his wounds from the beginning of the book. That's one hell of a recovery. And are we to believe Doc Brantzen would Have A doctors office open in that time period. I think Not! The parts i did like were the rescue of Sioung's Wife and Daughter. I liked the Scenes Mack and his family at the airport. pretty much an average entry. 7 stars -
wow! I really liked this novel a lot. Great Characters, good plot and a great setting. The bad guys were really bad in this one. Mack is wounded and on the run in this one. finds shelter in a Doctors office. passes out and then is discovered by a woman who happens to be the town doctor. the dialog between them was well written. I really liked the Character's liked Rick and old war veteran. this is very good writing by Mike Newton. highly Recommended reading. -
This book is a milestone novel for the series. To me is showed a Mack that is getting older and in ways not better. He almost lost his life 2 times in this one. The hunter seemed 2 steps ahead of him the whole way. It was really good to have Al Weatherbee and his Wife in this one. And I enjoyed the interaction between him and Mack. I don't really know if this book should have been # 100 or not. All I know is that this is a special story and Mike Newton did an Incredible job with this book. 10 stars all the way. -
This is a great book. I think this is the perfect book for the 100th entry. It covers Mack's Mafia wars. His work with the government as John Phoenix and now his lone wolf status. I thought the scenes with the President trying to get Mack to come back under the government umbrella were really well written. I thought the C.I.A agent Cam was an interesting Character and his history of Black ops. It was good to see some familiar Faces like Leo and Susan in this book. Very appropriate for the 100th entry. very well written and I give it 10 stars. -
Wow. C.I.A, KGB, white Racist Bikers and Crazies from an insane Asylum. For a minute there i thought Bigfoot was going to make an appearance. There was just too much crammed into this book. The best part of this book was the title and cover. The Cover kicks Ass. 6 stars for this book -
This book has some problems with it. The best scenes in the book are where Mack is teaching the students. When he was on the phone with Hal talking about how much he enjoyed teaching the students. Mack would never endanger those young kids lives like that. Allowing them to join with him attacking trained soviet Agents like that. I give this 5 stars. -
I did not like this book very much. this book reminded me of Beruit Payback and Appointment in Kabul. I thought those books were pretty weak also. 6 stars -
This is one of those must read books, if youre a true fan of the the Executioner. A lot of reviews say this book is light on action. So what! This is a character driven story, and it stands Head and Shoulders above alot of books in this series. The best scenes are when Mack is testifying. I liked Mack telling the world why he has to fight and whats wrong with the current court system. The scene when Mack is Attacked inside his cell was well written. I liked when Mack told the sheriff he was living in a dream world if he thought that his department was clean. I liked when Mack was visited by Hal And Susan. This is a really solid read and definitely a top book in this series. 10 stars. -
Good book. I give this book 8 stars I deduct 1 star for those Annoying Hard Corps Girls. That part of the story brought the book down a bit. I was glad when Johnny Killed Angela at the end. I deduct 1 more star for the beriut battle scenes. Anybody that knows anything about Special Operations knows that the Seal's on the mission would have operation command and not some Ensign who never had combat Experience. In real Life Johnny wouldnt have even been on the mission. I know that this is fiction. Other that those 2 things the book is really a good solid read. 8 stars -
There are a lot of mixed reviews for this one and I'm kind of in the middle myself. Not the best read by along shot. When this book first came out the Russians were the bad guys and the freedom fighters were righteous. Reading this book today after 9/11 I kinda think we should have let the Russians have there way in Afganistan. we probably would not be dealing with what were dealing with today. Anyway I give this book 6 stars. -
This book was a piece of Dung. It's hard to believe that a Man on everybody's hit can get a top secret clearance just like that and go where ever he wants to on a top secret base, it did not ring true to me. I thought the KGB angle to the story was lame. The only thing that saves this book from being a 1 star effort was the mind control angle. That reminded me of the Manchurian Candidate. That was the most interesting part of the book for me. -
I didn't like this book . Maybe at the time that it was published the Beriut civil war was in the fore front of alot of people's conscience because of the Marines Barracks bombing. But I found this book to be really confusing. Boy the 3 books after Dead Man Running have been real duds in my opinion. Not even the appearance of Katz could save this one, And why was he even in the book? 6 stars -
this is a terrible book. this Author has no idea who Mack is. the fact that he would have Mack sleep with the KGB agent was lame. the scientist angle was stupid. just a really bad story. I was glad to be done with this one. I'm not going to waste any more time on this one. 5 stars for the cover, that's the only thing that is right with this book. -
What a great book, This is old school Bolan. He's a very cold customer in this one, and He's not going to be stopped until He find's the traitor. I liked the way Mack was able to Infiltrate the white house as a news reporter. And the later use role camouflage to impersonate the Black Ace. I was kind of upset that the little boy and his family was killed. I didn't think the Author needed to kill them off. this book had so many good things going for it. Susan Laundry getting herself kidnapped was kind of lame. And then killing the KGB agent and then blowing Mack's cover. I don't know why she was even in the book. Other than that I thought the book was Fantastic. Just the very Mack executed the traitor right in the oval office in front of the President makes this book 10 stars for me. -
I rate this book pretty highly, I think it is a well written adventure. I like the way the author writes Mack in this one. He seems more human and has flaws and doubts. I absolutely loved the scenes in Afganistan. It reminded me of the movie Firefox. I think this book fits nicely in the trilogy for the intro to the KGB wars. I really like David McCarter in this book. This was first Exposure to his Character and I think he was a great addition to this book. Really good read for me and I highly recommend getting this if you Havn't already. 9 Stars for this one. -
This is a nice little Guide to the terrorist wars. I liked the Vietnam Story. I didn't like the Lazer wagon story. The weapons catalog was good. and I liked the rogue's gallery. I give this 8 stars, pick it up if you can find it. -
WOW! This book still packs a punch. And I've been reading it since it first came out over 30 years ago. This is old school Bolan kicking ass and taking names. This book reminds me a lot of Boston Blitz. I enjoyed the opening scenes with Mack And Jack flying in the Harrier to recover the stolen Nuke. The under water battle was god and the air to air combat between Jack and the 3 cobras was really exciting. I did find it odd that Katz was flying the rescue chopper and not McCarter. To me it was like the author didn't know the characters very well. I was saddened by Konzaki's death and I thought Mack got some pleasure in dealing out some retribution on the ones that caused his death. April's death was shocking even though it was depicted on the cover. It still broke my heart. this book is a strong 10 stars. It's a great star to the trilogy for the start of the war on the KGB. This book is outstanding! A great read. -
I got this book for Christmas in 1983. It's a good read then and it's a good read now. I liked the opening scenes with Bolan and Manning playing the survivalist game with the weekend warriors. Thought that was pretty comical. liked the flashback scene with Katz undercover with a mercenary army in the Congo hunting down a Nazi who escaped germany after the war. Thought the final confrontation between Katz and the Nazi was well written. All in all a pretty solid book. 8 stars -
I thought this book was pretty standard, up until Bolan found Eve. Then Bolan turned into A war machine, And killed everybody! Those scenes saved this book from a 5 or 6 star rating. -
I really love this book. I read it multiple times and it gets better and better every time. This is Mike Newton's first Bolan Book, and he hit's it out of the ballpark. I liked this book for it's more personal aspects. A friend helping a friend. From the shoot out leaving the airport this book did not let up on the gas. This book was written 34 years ago but the themes are so relevant today. Police corruption and cover up. This book stands the test of time for me and it remains a favorite of mine from the early terrorist wars. if you have not read this, pick up this little gem it well worth it. 10 stars -
Good book. a bit slow in the beginning. but once it took off it was a pretty solid action. I really liked the supporting characters like Hook and Kabrina. A good entry in the terrorist wars. 8 stars -
This was a really good book. Very good transition over to the terrorist wars. I think the author did a very good job with it. Although he didnt hit Mack's character exactly right, It was still good enough to make this a 8 star book for me. -
This book was a real let down after the last 2 titles. I dont like when the team is down in central America For some reason. Anyway this book did not do for me at all. The ending was very unsatisfying. 6 stars -
Holy Crap! What a book. Outstanding in every regard, This book is one of a kind. The opening chapter is so brutal. And it just gets better from there. I was riveted, could not put it down. I love the cover, I wish I could get it framed. Pol with the Machete, Gatgets with the 2 Uzi's and Lyon's making the Atchisson sing. I liked this book connection to Stonyman Doctrine, and the story really that feel to it. The vision of Able team covered in blood and gore after going though that absolute hell of a fight and then having to hosed off to get in the cop cars is a vision I cant get out of my head. I really love Flor and it broke my heart when she got killed. Why did they have to kill her off she was such strong women and a great fit Lyons. This book is my 100TH review On Mack Bolan.Com and I cant think of a better book to mark that milestone. 10 Freakin Stars for this one! -
This is what Able Team is all about, Hard hitting in you're face action. Where the Bad guys are really BAD!! and you want to see them ushered into the next world with a bullet to the head. Lot of good things about this Book. I loved the cover with POl shouldering the Armburst Rocket. I thought the attempted Mugging of the Team was so random, Came out of no where. They messed with the wrong tourist's. Liked the Floyd Character, He turned out to be a real warrior. I loved the way the corrupt F.B.I agent got his, Classic. to me this is the best book in the series so far. A solid 9 stars. -
pretty fair read, I enjoyed it. I thought Nate was an interesting character. would have liked to have learned more about unomundo. not the best in the series but definitely worth picking up if you havn't read it. -
This book ROCKED!! Really well written. The scenes with Konzaki and Lyon's were really well written. I loved Lyon's new piece. That Modified Colt is AWESOME!!. I wonder how come Phoenix Force never Utilized Konzaki's talent. I dont think he was ever mentioned in that series. Anyway this book is Action, Action and more Action. And it was really gratifying to see the Muslim Brother hood terrorist's get taken out. Some reviewers talked about the the team using Racial remarks. I noticed in the last book that Gadgets used the term "Gook" To describe The Cambodian Mercs. I have to Remeber that these books were written over 30 years ago and America was a lot Less PC. Anyway this is an outstanding book and I give it 9 stars -
I give this book 6 stars. The only thing that really stands out about this book for me was Lyons going Native, and fighting the whole time with a loin cloth on. Funny stuff! But over all average. -
I enjoyed this book. I liked when ABLE TEAM goes undercover in this one. thought the book moved along very nicely. Liked Gadgets and his little electronics workshop at the Mercenary camp. Liked the reference to the movie WILD GEESE that the mercenaries were watching. solid book for me I give it 8 stars -
WOW! this is really an explosive novel. Able Team really kicks ass in this book. I thought the bikers were real scum of the earth and I wanted to see them die slow. I really liked the small group of Citizens Like Glenn and his wife and the 2 cousins striking back and not going down like sheep. Really solid action though out. Highly recommended reading. I give this book 9 stars -
This book did not do it for me. Phoenix Force seemed a little off in this one. I didn't like the way a couple of the supporting players were killed off. the best part of the book for me was when the force went in to Afganistan to chase down the bad guys. I also thought that the bad guys were not very interesting. the parts where the force take on the Hind helicopter and the 2 tanks was well written. All in all I give this a 6 star effort. Now since this is going to be my last Phoenix force review, I want to take the time to list my all time top 10 Phoenix Force books. #1 Barracuda Run #2 Super Phoenix #2 Search and destroy #3 Super Phoenix #1 Fire Storm #4 Tigers of Justice #5 The Black Alchemists #6 The Bonn Blitz #7 Amazon Strike #8 Missle Menace #9 Harvest Hell #10 Tooth And Claw -
This book was a disappointment for me. not a very good book to end the series with. Phoenix Force was such an awesome series, it really did deserve better. I pretty much stopped reading Gold Eagle books after they stopped publishing Phoenix Force. As a story this book wasn't anything special that's for sure. I give it 6 Stars. -
This is a really good title. I liked that the previous ally turned out to be a double agent. At the end of #44 Main Offensive, Katz and Brognola discussed whether or not he would be a suitable replacement in an emergency. and Brognola said they would have to take a deeper look into his background. I think the author already had Thoughts that he was going to make him double agent. And I liked that we got to see Testorov again. even though he didn't turn out to be the main threat in the story. all in all a really solid read and I give it 8 stars. -
I thought that this was an excellent book. I liked that Rafael got more of the focus in this one. it was interesting to see the girl reporter pop up again from #39 Jungle Sweep. I thought That Col Martillo and his crew were brutal and I'm glad that they got taken down hard in this one. all in all a pretty action packed adventure story. I give it 8 stars. -
Wow!! What an amazing book. This book is definitely in the top 10 of Phoenix Force books, Maybe even in the top 5! This author is batting 1000 he hasn't missed a beat. There are so many good things that I can say about this book. My favorites parts are Jack And Dragon Slayer. Enzio's little surprise for that scumbag gun runner. And McCarter Flying Barracuda and Dog Fighting with the other Mig. This book is a cut above the rest. A MUST read for fans of Phoenix Force. 10 Stars. -
I liked this book a lot. lot's of good action scenes. I especially liked the gun fight at the Ball. the last 19 books or so have seen 3 different stories involving Nazis. I like those story lines. any way a solid 8 star effort. -
I bought this book when it was first published. I never got around to reading it until now. I thought this was a pretty good book. Though not on par with Super Phoenix #1 and #2, this book is still passable. 7 Stars. -
I give this book 7 stars. I really didn't think that phoenix force needed to be sent on this mission. I thought the bad guys and their scheme was preposterous. The S.A.S could have handled these guys with no problem. I understand that the new president wanted to save one of his political supporters. This book gets a 7 star from me because of Major Simms appearance. I thought the way he went out was like a true warrior. -
Not the best from Fieldhouse but passable. it took me awhile to get through this one. -
I liked this book. like it when the boys take on the Nazi's Martin Kohler was a fine addition to the team and I liked his decision when he was ordered to turn on the team. hopefully we'll get to see more of him in future books. nice to see Manning have a little romance on the side. I don't think he had any sort of Romantic Involvement since # 8 Aswan Hellbox. pretty solid book for me all around. * stars -
This book reminded me alot of PF#11 Return to Armageddon. Not one of Fieldhouse's best books but still passable. One thing though I wish that Phoenix would land and a military base when they travel overseas. It seems like every time they land at a civilian airport all hell breaks loose. Over all I give this book a an 8 star rating. -
I thought that this book was just ok. toy me the best part of this book was when Katz and Calvin took on the skinheads in the streets of San Francisco,Also Katz comparison of the Cable cars to the Train cars that took the Jews to the concentration Camps was very Chilling. I did think the Female terrorist was an interesting Character. and I also liked the SAD agents. Pretty standard action 7 star book. -
What an OUTSTANDING BOOK! This book is equal to Super Phoenix #1. This Author really knows how to fabricate a excellent story. I really live this book. Linaker really captures the spirit of the fighting man. I absolutely love the scene with Manning and Enzio pinned down by the secret police. And then Rafael getting on the phone to call in Jack and the Dragon Slayer. It just doesnt get any better than that. And Katz getting captured was well written. I did have a small problem with Katz captor's letting him keep his prosthesis. Other than small minor detail. The rest of this story kicks major ass. Great supporting characters to like Jack milligan and Malmud. And I really liked the KGB agent Testorov. Just a great novel all around. 10 freaking stars!! -
Wow! what a great book. This Author Rocks. The Introduction of Dragon Slayer is Awesome. I think that this was the first Phoenix adventure that Jack Grimaldi has made an appearance. I could be wrong though, And I really liked James escape from the compound. I felt bad for Louis Farrango and it was satisfying when David and Rafael dispatched those bastards who tortured him to hell. this is one of the better books in the series and I give it a 10 star rating. -
I'm in agreement with alot of other reviews. Not a good book. 1 star. -
I liked this book. I like the more personal stories. 8 stars. -
OH MY GOD!!! What a powerhouse of action adventure. this is probably in my opinion the best phoenix force book ever written. This book had it all and it didn't let up on the gas for a minute. The force is really well written here. Each one had equal billing and I really like the parts where Gary is held prisoner by Col Skull. and his escape and evasion is great writing. I like Calvin in this book and the way he deal with the Racist assholes Vasnov and Mamer. I bought this book when it was first published. and I've read it multiple times. and it still holds up today. Fieldhouse created a Masterpiece of action adventure. the only book that comes close to matching it is Stony Man Doctrine. If you're a fan of Phoenix Force this is required reading, It's that good. A very strong 10 stars. -
Wow!! 10 stars. This is a outstanding adventure this author nailed it I thought it was very well written and it flowed beautifully. there wasn't a wasted scene anywhere in the book. I especially loved the scenes with Rafael And Calvin down in New Mexico. the old Mafia likes to rear its ugly head. Cant wait to read more from this Author. -
I think another review said this. Did this author ever read a Phoenix Force novel. this is a poorly written novel and I had a hard time getting through it. -
This is a really good read. This was one of the later books that I thought was outstanding. I really thought Argon Vlore was a great bad guy. I really didn't consider him to be a bad guy though as he was a soldier just following orders. I had sympathy for his character. I also liked s the two yugoslav intelligence agents and some recurring characters from earlier books this is a 9 star effort. -
Well.... like the other reviews i thought the story was slow until the battle in the sugarcane field with the "zombies" Other than that pretty standard stuff. Good to see my favorite character Calvin get some action on the side. 7 star effort. -
I really like this title. Liked the bar fight at the beginning. and I especially liked the Thai Ranger that went into battle with the force. to bad the main bad guy got away at the end. solid action. I give this book 8 stars. -
I agree with some of the previous reviews. Pretty standard story until Gary and Rafael crash lamd in the middle of nowhere and have to fight off the hungry wolves. Outstanding writing. Saves the book from being ordinary. 8 stars. -
I give this book 7 stars. I like the fact that it is the last TRIO book. I never did find them very interesting. I did like John Trent's appearance though. I liked when John went to the head of the Ninja Clan for permission to kill the 2 brothers. I thought that was well written. Other than that pretty standard stuff. -
Very disappointed by this one. I really liked this Author's last book. This one was really flat for me thought the bad guys were very incompetent. The boys didnt even work up a sweat in this one. 6 stars. -
Terror in the dark. What an appropriate title. This is more Katz story than anything else. I find him to be a ensipiration in my personal life. He handled himself very well against the ODESSA agents. David is far to rash in his behavior. And I find someone who's supposed to be superprofessional should start acting like it. All in all greatbook. 9 stars. -
What an outstanding book. Very tense and exciting. The Author has really come into his own with this entry. To me this is the best book in the series so far. The characters really come to life in this one. Loved the scene with Manning And McCarter chasing the Terrorist's on the Autobann. All round and Excellent book. I was sad to finish it. I wanted more. It's that good. 10 stars. -
I thought that this was a excellent entry to this series. I really love these characters ans I thought putting Rafael's brother in the story was a nice touch. And I love it when the boys fo undercover. This bookis definitely a 9 star effort. -
Weep Moscow Weep is extraordinary for the fqct that the team has to team up with the KGB. I thought the rest of the book was routine. It had good action scenes. I'm surprised the Russians would manufacture a chemical Agent so soon after the Proteus Enzyme chemical agent from #13 Harvest Hell. All in all, Pretty standard book for me. -
Man, I really had to suspend all disbelief on this one. You mean to tell me that over 200 terrorists are able to take over the vatican. Bring in weapons Explosives and a jeep with a 50 cal mounted on it and also drilling equipment. Were the Italian security forces asleep!! It would have been nice if the Author could have taken 2 or 3 pages to explain how all the terroists aquired the weapons and equipment. Maybe the terrorists got them from a local black market dealer. I can understand the negative reviews. That being said, this book kicks assssss. Thought the scene with the Pope was freakin Epic!!! The only reason I give this book 8 stars is for the lack of explaination by the aurthor about the terrorists bringing in the weapons and equipment -
I thought that this was an excellent book. This is Neuman's fourth book and he really seems to be coming in to his own. The Characters are spot on and I thought the supporting characters were really well written. Looking forward to reading more from this author. 9 star effort -
I agree with the other reviews. Very standard book. Not Fieldhouse's best by a long shot. I think this book suffers from the added pages. There seemed to be alot of filler. What really disapointed me was that Weiss got away clean. Very disappointing book 6 stars. -
What a great book! I thought this book had it all. I think Karl makes a great addition to the team. I like When David had to babysit Bobby I liked how those 2 related to each other. And of course you know trouble going to find him. The Russians in this book Were more comic relief than anything. I liked how Karl and Bobby wrote. Computer program to steal the money that the Russians Put in the MERGE bank account. All in all a really solid entry to the series. 9 stars -
I thought this book was a excellent entry in the series. Love Karl Hahn! He didnt bat an eye when asked to fill in for Rafael. I like Calvin beating up the racist cop. And I liked the return of the bad guy from Viper Factor. 8 stars. -
Really Liked this book, Finished it really quick. I like it when Phoenix goes up against Neo-Nazis. I thought the car chase from the hotel and Gun battle at the bowling alley was a well written action sequence. I have one complaint though. The ODESSA Officer killed at the farmhouse had a matchbook that had the location that ODESSA was using as a headquarters. Good gun battle at the end and Rafael being shot in head a hell of way to end the book. Good 8 star effort. -
Wow!!! Awesome book. This is Phoenix at there best. 200 Soviet KGB & GRU Agents along with Paratroops. Damn the Russians must be desperate! Good stuff here people. Manning almost getting captured and Killed is a really well written scene in the book. Also liked the Mission Impossible Reference.I really cant say enough about this book. Its been 30 years since I first read this book. And its still freakin awesome. Love the cover 10 stars!! -
I've been reading this series for over 30 years. Going through the series again I'm trying the approach of someone who has never read the series before. Saying that, I thought this was a very well written book. I really liked the character Mahmud. I thought his back story was absolutely heartbreaking. And I really liked the friendship between David and Him. Good action scenes. Likes that the force had to go though some different groups of bad guys to find Trio. I give this book a solid 8 stars. -
This book was good. I like the location and the thuggees. I thought that the KGB were biting off more than they could chew with this mission. Pretty far fetched plan. All in all I give this book 8 stars. I really liked Katz taking out the terrorists at the deli at the beginning of the book. Good stuff. -
Didnt really care for this book to much. The best part of this book was the introduction of John Trent. Also like the Title and cover. -
I thought this book was OK. Not the best in the series but it had some good action sequences. I like the action scenes at the casino. And I thought the Helicopter chase at stella island was exciting. Also liked Don Fazzio and him comparing Phoenix Force to the executioner. If he only knew. Also liked the fact that Calvin got a little action on the side. 7 star effort. -
I liked this book. David got more of the spotlight in this one. I like it when the force goes on missions without any official sanction. I liked when the Force arrives in England and are waiting for David to pick them up. I guess those punks picked the wrong "tourist's" to try and mug. I liked the assault on the Embassy and the escape. Also liked the short story about Keio. Thought it gave a good closure to his character. I really like Fieldhouse's writing. 8 stars -
Really good book. I give this book 9 stars for the introdution of Karl Hahn, freakin badass character. I love the locale and the action is fast paced. Good stuff!! -
This book is very special to me. It's the first Phoenix Force book I ever read. I loved it then, and I love it now. The Idea of a Malnutrition biological weapon was very scary and original idea. I liked all the members of the team in this one. It seem they all got equal time in the book. Really liked Gary and Rafael going under cover on Krio Island. This is the second time the force has thwarted a KGB operation. And it sets up a good story line for future books.I liked the two Bulgarians and Dmitri Krio. I thought how he ended up was poetic justice. And I liked the very end were the American President and Russian premier were on the phone with each other, that was good writing.all in all I give this book 10 stars. -
10 Stars!! This is a outstanding title. This book introduces to the series my favorite character... Calvin "Freakin" James. The Black bad ass from the south side of Chicago. Definitely one of my favorite characters in the Bolan Universe. Calvin definitely brings some swagger to the team. This book has great action, great villans And a great send off to a great character. To bad about Keio. He died a warriors death, and he will be missed. I can go on and on about this book. If you havnt read this title yet, go out and get it. You wont be disappointed. Again 10 stars. -
Wow! I really liked this book alot. Great action. Liked the villains and I liked that The Force member that was the Focus this time was Katz. Liked Rachel Stern. To bad she had to die. It seems when any memb we of the team get involved with they get killed. All in all very solid book 9 star effort. -
I agree with a lot of the other reviews. I really liked this author's last entry but this book was boring and very uneven. I'm not going to waste anymore time with this review. One thing though, if youre thinking of reading this book.... DONT!! 4 stars. -
I absolutly love this book. I've read this book multiple times. To start with Manning at the beginning of the book struggling to come to terms with the death of nemtala was touching. I liked the John Phoenix cameo. I liked when katz and Keio went to vienna and Katz attitude toward the enthusiasm of Keio as he was taking pictures. I liked the nazi hunter Solomon. I liked the bad guys in this book. ODESSA Nazi's teaming up with former members of the Baader-Meinhof was good reading. Lots of great shootouts and action. Thought the end was great with the East German agent killing himself because he couldnt reprogram the missles from targets in East Germany to West Germany. This book gets 9 stars. -
Really liked this book. The Force is in Africa searching for the Blood Doctor. This book is straight up action. I thought the Manning and Nemtala were very well written. I thought Nemtala was a hell of a women. And it was heartbreaking for me when she got killed. I liked Salibogo very much in this book. To bad that he wasn't a recurring character in the series. I thought Blackwell and his Black Cobras were some of the baddest bad guys so far in the series. And I was satisfied when they got taken out. Really good book highly recommened reading. 8 star book. -
This was Fieldhouse's second novel and it's a whopper. I love the way he writes action. Good story. On the flight to Japan I liked how thoughtful Manning is about becoming as collussed as the Terrorist's there fighting. The Force is really molding into a real team and each team member is coming into his own. I liked Keio alot in this book. And his skill with a sword is second to none. Great action all around. 8 stars. -
I liked white hell. You would think that the IRA would learn there lesson from the last book. Good action here. Liked the chase at the beginning of the book, brutal bastards glad Phoenix took care of them. Liked when Manning made the Igloo during the storm.all in all satisfying entry to the series. 7 stars. -
This book was a disappointment after #4. This author only wrote 2 books and its not much better than his first effort. 6 stars -
WOW!! Awesome. Now were talking. The real Phoenix Force Unleased. This book is a powerhouse. A previous review said that William Fieldhouse was "born" to write this series. I cant agree more. I love Fieldhouse's writing. He know how to craft a well moving story. All the character's really come to life. I also thought the bad guys were well written also. Love the front cover with Manning front and center blasting away with his magnum. 9 star effort. -
Wow. Exciting adventure. The first 2 books were kind of bland. This entry puts the series on a good track. Good chase scenes on the atlantic ocean. And I liked the Navy's involvement. I thought the mind control of of U.S military personnel was frightening. This book is definitely an 8 star effort. The characters were better written than in the first 2 books I especially liked the first chapter. It was nice to get to know the team a lot little better. I'll say it again good adventure. -
Not the best book in the Phoenix Force series. Not that much action. I did like the Nord copilot and the French gunrunner. Not a very good start to my series. Im glad that the writing got better. I give it 6 stars. -
PHOENIX FORCE! This is my absolute Favorite series in the Gold Eagle Stable. I've been reading this series for 31 years ever since I picked up # 13 Harvest Hell. The characters are like old friends to me and I'm glad to be going thru the series from the start again. All that said the first entry in the series didnt exactly blow my skirt up. But it was a good start The scene at the farm when were introduced to the team members was good writing. David sure knows how to put his foot in his mouth. Like I said I love these characters and I'm going to relish reading this series again. Good 7 star effort. -
This book was just ok I expected more from Don's last entry in the series. I did like Mack's reflection at the end when he destroyed the warwagon. I'm glad that I read the origninal series again. The first hundred or so books in this series are required reading if you're a fan of this type of fiction. I'm very gratful that Don started this series. Now I'm going to reread my absoulute favorite series in the Bolan universe again. PHOENIX FORCE!!! -
I give this book 7 stars. I really liked the first couple of chapters with Leo. I really like the relationship between Mack and Leo. That paragraph at the beginning about Johnny was very good writing in my opinion. Then comes Frankie. Im getting tired of Frankie. But I guess that's what makes Mack so effective. Then comes Toby!! Enough already!! I wish Capitina Annoying would go away already. Oh well looking forward Don's grand finale. -
I think that this book was lacking. I still have no idea what Lucifer ladder's was about. I'm gettng kind of tired of the Frankie alias. You would think that the word would get around that Mack uses this alias. I'm looking kind of forward to the end of the mafia wars. I just hope that Don finishes the series on a strong note. I give this book 6 stars. -
Wow!! I thought this was a great book. Solid action. Glad to see Captain Harrleson back. Glad Mack got to take care of some unfinished business from Colorado. Liked the use of the Col Phoenix Moniker. I'm a big fan of the terrorist wars, and I'm glad this part of Mack's journey is coming to a end. It was good to see Jack in this book and his handling of the Cobra gunship was great. All in all another 8 star book. -
Well so far the last mile has been some pretty good reads. Hope it keeps up. Onlybthing I didnt like was april getting captured again. I hope this pattern doesn't continue. I did like April's actions at the end. Pretty solid read. 8 stars -
I give this book a 7 star rating. Good start to the last mile of Mack's mafia war.liked the introduction of April Rose and Her and Mack's interaction together. Beyond that really nothing to set this book apart from the others. Really liked the front cover. -
I give this book 8 stars because of Jacks participation in the story. Good to see him back. Also good to see the SOG crew again. I thought Hal's offer at the end was a great setup for Mack's final Mile in the Mafia wars. Good stuff. I always love how Mack walkes among his enemies and semands and gets absolute loyalty. Amazing!! -
Wow. Great book, a lot of hard hitting action. Really enjoyed the ex soldier dynamic to the book. And also liked the way mack turned the different factions against each other. Solid 8 star effort. -
Really liked this book alot. Really liked the Introduction of Susan Laundry. She's a good match for Mack. And I like how he explains his war to her. This is very good writing. All in all I give this book 8 stars . -
Outstanding Book. Mack walks among the enemy with complete ease. He executes the heads of the 5 families and then puts the blame on Eritrea. This gets 9 stars because or Sally Palmer. How Many times is Mack gonna have to pull the Ranger Girls fat out of the fire. Annoying. That being said great book. Looking forward to finishing the Don Pendleton era books. -
WOW Awesome book. I love Mack's more personal missions. And this is one for the ages. I love the way Mack uses the role camouflage, but it almost gets him killed. Looking forward to Command Strike. Im starting that Book Now. 9 stars -
Mack is back and this time it's in Georgia. I thought this book had potential to be something good. It had some good supporting players like David Ecceisfield. I thought he was a good character. And I hope his character turns up again in later books. Didnt like the C B jargon to much. I liked when Leo called for help. Good set up for the next book. 6 stars. -
This book really didnt do it for me that much. I really didnt find the affairs of Canada that Interesting. But I do remeber hearing about there economic problems when I was a kid on the news. Anyway the best part of this book was Mack's inpersonation of the black ace. I give it 6 Stars for that. -
I really liked the beginning. With the execution of the Mob guys at poolside with the Weatherby. I always like when Mack uses this weapon. Other than that the book kind of fizzled for me. 6 stars. -
Wow! What a outstanding entry. Right from the first page This book had me hooked. Good plot great characters and Mack taking it to the bad guys from inside there own base camp. My only complaint was Harrleson getting away. Hopefully their paths will cross again in a future novel. 9 star book. -
This was a good book. The scenes with johnny give it 8 stars in my book. I started reading The Executioner series in the mid-80's and for me its good to go through the original series again. I went through the original books about 15 years ago. I didnt like it back then. I was more into the Gold eagle books. But Im really glad I have given it a second look. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Starting Canadian Crisis. -
Mack is in the aloha state and its hotter than ever. I give this book 7 stars. I liked Mack's visit to the punchbowl. This was a prelude to the Stonyman project I liked the SOG team of Smiley Toby and Carl along with Anders. I liked the references to the Phoenix. And the Army Gunship involvement I thought that the whole King Fire thing was kind of far fetched. Starting St Louis Showdown Next -
I give this a 7 star rating. I really couldnt get into this book. I thought Mack sleeping with the girl that he just rescued was out of character. Standard action really nothing special. I liked the participation of Jack, Leo & Hal though. -
Mack's back and this time its NOLA. This is a good story for me. Enjoyed Toni and Lieutenant Petro. I really have enjoyed the last few books because we get a little insight from the cops in charge. Loved Mack's visit to the golf course. Loved the introduction of the new War Wagon. Quite a machine!! Atthis point in his war everlasting he's starting to win it.looking forward to getting into the 2nd half of the oringinal books. 8 star book. -
Mack is back and this time Detroit is the target. Enjoyed this entry alot. I liked Toby in this book; But whats with all the captain this and that. Thought the police Lieutenant was a good character. He came close to nailing Mack at the police station. Mack really likes to stick his neck out. The scene with georgette was heart breaking. 9 star effort. -
This is a good book. I enjoyed seeing Grimaldi in the story. Book had a good plot. It flowed pretty good for me. I especially like the scene with brognola. Good to see those 2 Bolan allies in the same book. I loved the cross state executions, then Mack calling the TV station and laying it down really good reading. 2 really good books in a row. 8 stars. -
Jersey Guns May 4, 2015This in my opinion is the best book of the series that I have read starting from number 1. Great story template that will be used in future titles. Mack's wounded and harried he's taken in by decent people and nursed back to health. So much good stuff in this story. I was kind of taken back by Mack giving the Mob the white flag. But thats what separates Mack from the scum he is fighting. The desciption of a turkey was eye opening. And I'm some turkey makers got the cleansing fire. Cant say enough about this book. Don was really on the mark with this one. Great book highly recommended. -
I like this book. Mack is a man who commands respect. Even from his eneimies. He just infiltrates the Dons home completely takes control. I like when Mack kills the Black Ace then passes him off as himself. Really good stuff here. He cuts it close a couple of times. Highly recommened reading good entry in the series. 8 stars -
This Book was ok. Liked seeing all the future members of able team in the same book I hope in future pendleton books the 3 members get to work together more. Carl does not resemble the "Iron Man" that I know and love. Any way good book pick it up if you dont have it and read it. -
This book really didnt do it for me. I thought the wolf crew were interesting. I didnt think that Lupo's plans were plausible. 7 star book for the wolf crew. On to San Diego. -
WOW!! Best book in the series so far. What the hell we're those idiots thinking snatching Val & Johnny. I loved the way mack starts right in as he blows into town. "Tell them I'm here tell them some one knows why" the way he rattles the cages around town reminded me of #62 Day of morning. When he thought those 2 turkeys were Val and Johnny thats some of the best writing in the series. All in all a masterpiece. Get this if you havnt read it and READ IT!! 10 stars. -
Give this book 8 stars for two words. BIG THUNDER baby. Good to see the introduction of Mack's favorite piece. A gun so powerful Dirty Harry Callahan commented "If properly used it can remove fingerprints. I like when Mack dialed in the gun he found it "AWESOME". Did Fight in korea? I thought it was just Vietman, Oh well. And I'm still not clear on who The Kinf was. All in all pretty standard stuff. The introduction of big thunder really made it for me. -
I liked this book. Good characters especially grimaldi. I like his background story. Just another vet trying to make ends meet. I'm glad he stayed on and became a part of stony man farm. I remember Evita from #48 Libya Connection. So I know how she is going to end up. Glad fast tony finally got his. Great disguise Mack. Anyway good book all around I hope Don can keep up the momentum in california hit 9 Stars. -
This book was AWESOME!!! From the take down of convoy at the beginning using the Stoner Weapon system and LAW rocket. Good stuff. I likes the Anders monologue very well written I liked the part about america losing its guts. I wonder what Anders would think today. I liked Mack's Reception for the Talifero brothers. Wecome to Vegas, good stuff again. Didnt really care for the ranger girls. I liked the Mack just walks among the mafia guns barking orders left and right. Thats balls right there. 10 stars. -
8 Star effort. Like the stein character. Liked when Mack played the role of phone repair man. Other than that standard action. I've started reading the series from the beginning again and I'm having trouble distinguishing which mobsters are from which book. Looking forward to Mack's Vegas venture. -
What a book. I give it a solid 10. Good characters all round. Loved the 3 girls and their "body therapy" Mack is written well here. Especially when he executes the 3 hit men searching for him at the girls apartment. Then later he spares Sam the Bomber because his wife has the same quailities as Valentina. Evie's death was tough to read and Mack' Reaction is what's separates him from the savages that he fighting. I liked when Mack dragged out Gambella's wife and showed her her husbands work. And then burned the house down. This is the seacond book in which Mack uses the media for his benefit glad to see the series get back on track with this entry. Solid book. Starting Chicago wipe out now. -
7 star book.liked the first appearance of the 9MM Beretta. Also liked the weapon descriptions especially the weatherby .460 and the use of the UZI 9MM. Looking forward to Nightmare in New York. -
I really don't know what to think of this book. I think Mack made to many mistakes. Especially letting Rudolfi live that first time. Mack should have taken him out early. It seemed though that Mack at the End might have learned a lesson,I hope so. The Cici character annoyed me. I had a hard time trying to figure out what the hell she was saying. And mack having her get him a rifle was strange to me. And sighting in the rifle at chateau, I guess Mack wasnt worried about attracting attention to himself. I give this book 7 stars for the Wilson Brown character. I liked the exchange between him and Mack in the casino. And Wilson's decision to help Mack. Hopefully Assault on Soho will be better. -
A solid 10. There is so much that I liked about this entry. Where to begin. First off the Execution of the 2 mafia hoods with the sniper rifle. What a way to announce you're presence to the miami conference. I liked the floor clearing at the tidewater plaza Good stuff. I liked the cuban expatriates and how they felt about Bolan"El Matador" and Mack's discussion about what Constitutes modern weaponry. Mack's down time with Margarita was well written. And the way she died was brutal. I liked how Mack dispatched those bastards who killed her. Modern weaponry. Glad Turrin made an appearance And good to see Hal here too. I can go on and on but I wont. Soild book. -
Really solid trilogy. I laughed at Lou Pena's "Book salesman"cover. A lot of good supporting character's like the old man at the gas station who helped Mack and of course Doctor Branzen I'm glad those bastards who carved him up got Bolanized as I like to call it. I like the introduction of Brognola in this title and the portfolio he offers to Mack. Good entry. -
Death Squad January 24, 2015Solid entry. Liked the seen where Mack And Zitter are Carrying the bodies the Mack have just wacked out of Zitters apartment right in front of the party goers, good stuff. I give this a 9 star because I would have liked to read how the death squad members got killed. Not Mack coming across there bodies. Still a solid entry. Reading Battle Mask now. -
What a great way to.start the franchise. Ive been reading the series since 1983 when I picked up #52 Tuscany terror. Never was able to get into the mafia wars. A few years ago I aquired the first 38 books(minus #16 I heard it was awful) that being said I just started going though the oringinal series starting with this title. Loved everything about it exceeded my expectations. From inflitration to execution. I especially enjoyed the scenes between Mack and Val. This book is a real winner. If you hav not read this youre missing out. -
Wow, Amazing what a great story. there are so many elements to this book that make it a classic for me this was the height of the new war books. Phoenix force and able team were well represented here. what stands out is Lyons going to war with the hatchet and being covered in blood and then asking WHY all the cops were staring at him. CLASSIC!!
