Harvest Hell

This book is very special to me. It's the first Phoenix Force book I ever read. I loved it then, and I love it now. The Idea of a Malnutrition biological weapon was very scary and original idea. I liked all the members of the team in this one. It seem they all got equal time in the book. Really liked Gary and Rafael going under cover on Krio Island. This is the second time the force has thwarted a KGB operation. And it sets up a good story line for future books.I liked the two Bulgarians and Dmitri Krio. I thought how he ended up was poetic justice. And I liked the very end were the American President and Russian premier were on the phone with each other,that was good writing.all in all I give this book 10 stars.

I know I'm going against most reviewers here, but I didn't find this one worthy of a 9 or 10 start review. It sure is good and has its moments, but I think overall it just felt like it was lacking something. The writing seemed a bit off at times and I didn't find it to be the strongest work of Fieldhouse. Definitely some good moments and characters, but I felt like it could have been much stronger.

Well I'm the odd one out here but let me tell you what I thought of this title by quoting two sections of text from the following book #14 Pheonix in Flames. Chapter 3 page 27 McCarter says "Who needs to rest after a simple little raid on a bloody farmhouse?" page 28 Encizo added "One little hit and it was over." And for me so it was, maybe the author was having some type of second thoughts on his previous work? I thought the action scenes were terrific like everybody else and yes I can appreciate this author was given a license with an extended run of titles in the series so the titles will tend to follow on from one to the other which is great but this one did very little for me I'm afraid. Was going to go for a four but changed my mind at the last moment, not one I enjoyed but other people are raving about it, since I am in the minority maybe you should give it a read for yourself and let us know what you think.

Able Team and Phoenix Force were assembled to apply Bolan’s tactics into the terrorist world. This is Phoenix Force’s attempt at the Executioner’s practice of hardcore undercover work, also known as role camouflage. True, they’ve always use cover names, but that’s to maintain operational security among other friendly agencies. This is different. This is undercover work with cover identities for Manning and Encizo to infiltrate Krios Island, a biowarfare facility run by the KGB. Because of this, this turns out to be a very good spy story . Phoenix Force divides up: two members undercover, the rest engage in their usual shoot and scopolamine investigation. The weakness was the unnecessary but obligatory pre-mission scenes that had nothing to do with the story, except to show that Phoenix Force members in normal situations. For example, sharks attack James and Encizo. Okay, a reach, but I can accept it. But at the same time, some bikers with poor judgment decides to mug Manning. Katz also has an unusual situation of death in public, but this one had something to do with the plot. “Harvest Hell” has a clever plot and terrific action writing from Fieldhouse, better than his average. The direct sequel to this entry would be “Tooth and Claw” where survivors from this one are featured.

This book is by far the best in the series. I've read several times and it has it's place next to the new war book, the bible and my autographed picture of Bill Bixby as my most valued treasures. This is the book that inspired my friend 'Steve' to train and walk across the blue ridge mountains. Live Large!!!

"Harvest Hell" takes Phoenix Force to Greece to evaluate and contain a terrorist-KGB plot involving a nasty bio-weapon. Much ammunition is expended and many things go boom. In the end, Phoenix Force defeats the evil terrorist scum. Lots of good action in this one. The front third of the book is a bit bare of plot-related action scenes but the lads find plenty other trouble to get into to keep things exciting until the story can dump them into a hornet's nest. Rafael and Gary do some undercover work which has some good bits and gets them into a lot of danger. Katz, McCarter and Calvin James have their own load of firefights and investigation from the outside. Calvin fits in very well with the rest of the team in his second adventure here. Things stay exciting and interesting and all the Phoenix Force guys get something to do. And they're all written well here, seeming to be real men. Good stuff here. A solid 9 stars.

This one was a real surprise. The title seemed kinda dorky, but this book turned out to be one of the best books in this series. I loved it. The cover art is explosive, and even has Encizo 2 fistin it. A must read for PF fans.

in light of recent terrorist problems and threat of biological warfare this book was very exciting. Anyone in america right now would hopefully agree. Terrorists deserve to be taken care of like they were here.

I found the plot in this one to be very interesting and very scary. Otherwise, a lot of action.

Great action, interesting plot idea that made for some hair raising chapters.

This one stands among my top 5. Love when the force goes undercover!
