The Doomsday Syndrome

This is my third Phoenix force read and my second favorite. I’m not sure how all the other stories go, but a character was out of commission, and someone else stepped into his place. I thought that was cool because you really don’t know what the fate of the characters will be. Some people have dinged this story for its lack of action compared to other stories. I liked the sneaking around and spy craft. I do think some of the bad guy actions are a bit cartoonish. Overall, a great story though.

I agree with the other reviews. Very standard book. Not Fieldhouse's best by a long shot. I think this book suffers from the added pages. There seemed to be alot of filler. What really disapointed me was that Weiss got away clean. Very disappointing book 6 stars.

This is ordinary certainly not up there with some of the preceding titles. I thought Brigg's as the leader of the bad guys was a well written character and how some of his troops desert and give some good information to the team after they discover his insane plans good also BUT BUT BUT I must admit I have never visited Prague but I am guessing it is a fair sized city? So the team with some flimsy information of a flatbed truck and guesses where the bad guys are go for a drive to see if they can find them and bugger me they do???? Rubbish! very disappointing scene which doesn't even have a good finish. Action scenes which normally pull this author up in reviews were few and down in excitement in this tile and also not to his usual standard. Not one to recommend for your reading.

Very standard PF novel. 1) The only reason why it is getting a 7 and not a 5 is Briggs. He was a totally insane American neo-nazi leader of a bunch of psychos with some German neo-nazis. The scene going through the German/Czech border was a blast between Brigg's troops and the communist troops. 2) I also liked how Prague was shown as a city torn and not completely run by Soviets. Svoboda really showed how on one hand he played ball with the KGB but his heart never left the concept of a free Prague. A very well developed character. 3) I also liked how Hahn's character was also further developed. I would love to have a book devoted to his blitz against the terrorists that tortured his partner. 4) Brigg's idea of blackmailing the soviets into freeing Czecheslovakia by not blowing up Prague with nukes was so idiotic especially since it was completely suicidal. 5) Fieldhouse really writes good action scenes the restaurant scene at the end was fantastic. A 7 overall.

I really liked this book. one of the best in the series so far. This is a good example of PF being a superior series to Able team.A good action packed well told story.

I thought this was just an average Phoenix Force book. Not as much action as I'm used to.
