When a ComBloc terrorist group takes a West German agent hostage, the five men of Phoenix Force defy a presidential order and travel to Germany to help free their friend. The terrorists are willing to exchange Karl Hahn for a man the West Germans have convincted of spying.
It should have been a routine trade, but Hahn's government is reluctant to comply. It's almost as if they want to sacrifice their agent.
The Force finds itself hamstrung by two governments. But if Hahn's own country won't save him, Katz and his men are all he has. When Phoenix Force unleashes its fury, few will forget the Bonn blitz!

What an outstanding book. Very tense and exciting. The Author has really come into his own with this entry. To me this is the best book in the series so far. The characters really come to life in this one. Loved the scene with Manning And McCarter chasing the Terrorist's on the Autobann. All round and Excellent book. I was sad to finish it. I wanted more. It's that good. 10 stars.
Great from start to finish, those annoying commies never learn do they, you just dont mess around with the Force, but way more importantly, you never, ever kidnap one of their sometime members ! Don't you realize they'll freaking go rogue if they have too, travel across the globe and wipe out your entire organization to get their home boy back .... man those commies shoulda learned by now ........
Eh Kay says ... Classic !!!
Very good read with hostage exchange at its core. PF is denied access to enter this one by both the U.S. and German governments, too bad they go anyway. Chemical gas, sarin, to be used in Bonn, birthplace of Beethoven.
Much use of deadly force in this one until a suitable ending is concluded. Much activity in Germany, especially around Bonn.
Though all PF books are good, this one is a level above.
Semper Fi.
Well my first ten in this series which follows the last few titles which have been also rated highly and this is a cracker.
Why?
Karl Hahn if you are familiar with the character (and I openly admit to him being one of my favourite characters) has been kidnapped by a Terrorist group and is being put up for a prisoner exchange with another held prisoner.
There is a major problem with the proposed prisoner exchange BUT the Team are ordered by God himself via Hal to ignore this and abandon Karl to whatever.
Of course this results in another unauthorised mission but all of the Team have fought with Karl and regard him as a brother so this is a minor consideration.
So it goes and the fine reading just keeps coming on page after page. Numerous well done action scenes of the opposition being wiped out while getting closer and closer to where Karl is being held.
THEN
The prisoner exchange is arranged ahead of time and what follows will entertain you if you decide to read this gem. What can't happen, happens as one of the Team is shot by a sniper in the chest and drops to the ground.
The action scenes ensuing are superb and you will be rivetted turning the pages.
Do yourself a favour and read this.
Stands alone as a monument to the spirit of every fighting man out there. This is the book that hooked me, frosty and Steve. It takes you to the limit!
Another good PF book from Neuman. The hostage exchange scene was really intense, it was a great ending to the story.
This has to one of my favourite books. I have read it over and over since I bought it in the late 80's.
Any time that karl Hahn is in one of these books, I just can't wait to see what he will do. Brilliant character
Any book with Karl Hahn is a good one. Also liked it when McCarter was disguise. Cool cover.
Action packed with a good story. Loved the front cover.
Anything featuring Karl Hahn has to be a winner, and this is no exception. Nice climactic rescue scene.
This book had so much good going for it...One of the best covers in the series,Great city to tear up,Interesting twist to the hostage friend situation,Plenty of ass, plenty of kick. Much meeting of said ass and kick.Phoenix gone outlaw, again (how come Able never went outlaw? It's like Brognola somehow knew just to point Lyons in a direction and let him destroy stuff)Neumann was on top of his game with this one.
