Warlord of Azatlan

pretty fair read, I enjoyed it. I thought Nate was an interesting character. would have liked to have learned more about unomundo. not the best in the series but definitely worth picking up if you havn't read it.

Well the first book featuring a recurring villian namely Unomundo who apparently features in five further books according to my spread sheet on this series. Well I can only hope we actually get to know something about him in the next five titles featuring him as we learn basically nothing about him in this title. That said this is a fair title in the series in which the start is great and the finish is great but hmm well I thought the middle was a little bit of a plodder.There are some pretty good parts contained within the reading of this and the title is certainly worth reading but I thought it lacked in comparison to the previous titles.

Very Nicely done. The story was well written and full of action. The idea of Nazis in Central America is very exciting and full of adventure. I thought that the scene where Lyons gets his arm broken by a flying rear view mirror was really cool. Keep it up!!!!

I read this book and found that it revolves mostly around one character... Lyons. This isn't necessarily a bad thing and this entry still had a very good flow. You have Blancanales using his knowledge of Spanish dialects to the teams advantage, but he remains in the background as more of a support character. Gadgets, well he really stays in the background and is a support character. His creative mind is never really used to give the team any electronics assistance. I did think that the scene where "Pol" uses teh barbed wire to take down the gunship was very well written I have to admit this book is an average read nothing really stands out as extraordinary or groundbreaking. I also like the fact that all of the first Able Team books have pertinent information from previous books show up in. I thought it was very funny when the villagers passed around the photo of Carl in his warrior garb from Able Team #4 Amazon Slaughter. I think that this book pulled off the escape of the bad guy in a very action packed and believable manner. I can't wait to see how Unomundo shows up in the next part of the series.

Dick Stiver's definitely gave Lyons free reign to go for a high body count! This book should not be "Able Team", but " Carl Lyons kills a LOT of mercs, co-starring 2 other guys". The action is really good and evenly spaced, though pretty blood thirsty. Stivers depicts badguys getting wasted in pretty drastic ways. The ending was pretty abrupt, and I wonder if that is too set up a sequel to this entry.

This is a solid 7 star novel, I miss Able Team fighting in this part of the world, They were at there best here. I think this is G H Frost's first Able Team, it seems to be his writing style.

"Warlord of Azatlan" was a respectable entry in the Able Team series. There was some good action, though not as much as some of the best Able Team books have had. The Able Team guys were interesting but really this is Lyons' story for the most part. The villains were hardly on stage after the first few chapters so hard to judge them. The supporting characters were pretty good. All in all this was a story that I enjoyed for the story as much as the action but it didn't capture me like the best of this series. I figure this is a 7-star book mostly because there were no real weaknesses and they hit all the necessary notes.

This one was so-so. It had a few holes in the plot, like the conveniently appearing then disappearing Luis. I kept expecting him to turn out to be a plant, based on his actions. However I bumped the rating up a couple spots for two reasons. 1) The introduction of Unomundo. Okay, we don't see much of him, but I'm really looking forward to reading his next appearance (a late-comer, I'm reading through the Able Team and Phoenix Force books in order) 2) The pulling out the picture of gone-native-Ironman from Amazon Slaughter. I like seeing little things like that carry over.

An enjoyable read, most notable for the intro to Unomundo.
