As incidents of frenzied murder and mutilation terrorize Los Angeles, police chemists discover a new drug sweeping through the gang subculture.
"Crazy dust" - a variant of PCP one hundred times more addicting than heroin - creates inhuman monsters willing to go to any extremes to finance their addiction.
Drugged gangs wander neighborhoods. Crazed punks besiege police stations, ambush narco strike squads with automatic weapons. Only Able Team has the guts - and the firepower - to combat a Soviet plot to destroy democracy with a proxy army of drug-mad devils.

This book has a reputation as one of the most over-the-top Able Team novels written so I knew what I was getting into when I started it, and although I found the blatant reactionary politics and the stupendous amount of gore distasteful, the book is in general an engaging and entertaining read. The violence and carnage are so extreme that it reaches the point of self-parody for the genre. The romance between alpha-male Lyons and his DEA agent girlfriend Flor is a strongpoint and it elevates the story above most typical Action fare.
Holy Crap! What a book. Outstanding in every regard, This book is one of a kind. The opening chapter is so brutal. And it just gets better from there. I was riveted, could not put it down. I love the cover, I wish I could get it framed. Pol with the Machete, Gatgets with the 2 Uzi's and Lyon's making the Atchisson sing. I liked this book connection to Stonyman Doctrine, and the story really that feel to it. The vision of Able team covered in blood and gore after going though that absolute hell of a fight and then having to hosed off to get in the cop cars is a vision I cant get out of my head. I really love Flor and it broke my heart when she got killed. Why did they have to kill her off she was such strong women and a great fit Lyons. This book is my 100TH review On Mack Bolan.Com and I cant think of a better book to mark that milestone. 10 Freakin Stars for this one!
The best book in the series so far by a street.
Carnage, slaughter, bloodfest absolutely over the top violence is not normally my thing but this is bloody fantastic and I loved every minute of it.
A new variant of a drug so powerful it turns the users into crazed maniacs who can't even be taken down by various shots or machete strikes to their limbs and only a removal of the head or spinal column finally stops them.
Enter the guys from Able Team and the Atichison shotguns.
The starting couple of chapters will blow you away with what sort of stuff is coming up but when you get to the section where Able Team enter the bad guys building and they are attacked by wave after wave of drugged out psychos is very good stuff folks let me tell you.
Giving just a little away one section when Pol who is not accustomed to the shotgun accidently sets it to full auto and what happens to the guy in front of it when he lets rip is brilliant.
The descriptions of the team leaving this locaton covered in blood from head to foot with brain matter and bits of flesh all over them and the looks given by the LAPD cops is also very well written.
A really good sub plot in this title and some sad stuff at the end which seems to be the way these books even today never mind when this was written as no matter how popular a character is we have to kill them off.
I loved it and hope you will too if you decide to read it.
This is the best action I have ever read in my life!!!!!!!!!!!! The first chapter alone made me think I was reading a movie by Wes Craven or Eli Roth. Lyons is still the baddest mother of all time and this book just confirmed it but can we please find this man a woman to fall in love with and not get killed!?!?!
INTENSE ACTION!
I absoloutley loved this book from start to end. The imagery was incredible, the action constant, and the plot very believable. I could feel no aompassion for the people that were mowed dowm by Able Team. THey were doped up and out of their minds but wow even that is no excuse. I haven't read any book in these series' with such brutal imagery.
I can't help but wonder why Flor was killed off you would think that she had some very useful qualities that could easily convert into a support role in future books. I mean there isn't much of a chance of April going in to the field for any extended period of time and she is the closest thing to Flor as far as a plausable support character / femme fatal is concerned.
But anyway back to the review, the svene at the apartment complex that featured 2 Attchison assault weapons aka: "The Lyons Crowd Killing Device" was awesome. I guess it was a favorable coincidence that Pol and Gadgets brought one and Lyons happened to already have one for the academy demonstration in LA. Way cool.
I also loved seeing Lyons' old partner being brought in to the mix as a support character. The hospital scene provided much needed comic relief. Slam those commie news reporters guys.
It was also interesting to see how the entire city of Angels shut down because of these crazed drug enduced homicidal maniac street toughs rampaging as if they were zombies. I cant say enough about how great this book was.
Except for the scenes between Flor and Carl I really disliked this book.
Why? Frost really seems to hate teenagers. Not a fan of them myself with some forms of music they like but then I was a teen myself.
Frost seems to think in both this book and book 4 that teens are natural born killers. Sadistic, easily manipulated and love to kill, maim and more like zombies from the Romero Dead movies then real people.
Both books have scenes in apartment complexes filled with teens that AT just goes through blowing them all away. Without remorse or thinking "hey these are kids".
How often a Mack when having a teen mafia soldier, drug runner etc will Mack try to give the teens a chance and will try to take them out using nonlethal methods.
I keep thinking how Mack would handle teen killers like in these two books. I come up with he would have made the attempt to do something else. At least ponder what he is doing and avoid killing those under 18. Carl especially thought they were punks and boom trio of shots in head and chest.
Again a good Mack writer. Thank god Frost never got his hands on Mack.
With AT being a spin-off of the Executioner series I think Frost is a bit off the reservation.
this was a slam bang filled book, especially after the first 4 chapters, which set up the story.
This one was full of awful , horrible, graphic blood shed, perpetrated by the drug crazed gang members; that made it more satisfying when Able Team got just as bloody as them. It was also satisfyng seeing the communist reporters get hacked to death by their own " people". GH Frost did a great job of showing how crazy things get for AT. Nice to see Lyons have a little romantic R and R too.

His love, Flor, gets killed in the end, when I haven't really seen too much of her in the series! It was only # 8 for gosh sakes!! they should at least have had a funeral scene or something. Still, a great read. finished it in one day.
More G H Frost carnage. This is the type of Able Team you want if you're gonna check out this series for the first time. I wish I had a huge poster of the cover art for my room, it rocks!
In the tense and exciting adventure of "Army of Devils", Able Team is out to stop murderous gangs of drug-boosted punks before they destroy Los Angeles. Assisting them this time is Flor Trujillo, the lady DEA agent from "Texas Showdown" and "Stony Man Doctrine", and as much as I dislike having April Rose around, I have to say that Flor is a wonderful character and she adds a lot to this story.
The beginning of the story shows the horrific cruelty and violence of the street punks on rampages aided by a new super-drug. These gang punks are the lowest of scum. The villains sending these monstrous punks on their sprees are evil through and through. Several chapters are devoted to establishing the back-story of these villains and their organizations and plans, which makes the story better, but after the opening burst of gang violence we already know these are evil creeps.
Lyons is troubled throughout this story by his inner demons and his worries for Flor, his lover. The Iron Man will need all his wits to come out the end of this one in one piece.
Able Team doesn't go into action until about the middle of the book but from then on this one is moving at full speed with action on nearly every page. Flor is along with Able as they go into action but she gets involved in her own action and really shows that she can handle herself.
Meanwhile, Lyons, Gadgets and Pol have their hands full trying to take out the punks who are so pumped up on super-drugs that they won't stop for anything less than having their brains shot out. This is scary stuff indeed. Lyons and Pol both use Atchisson shotguns for their big assault of the gang HQ and there is plenty of splattering gore and destruction.
Good characters and a tense plot, evil slimy villains you love to see taken down, Able Team and Flor in action up to their eyeballs and great pacing and writing make this one a top notch adventure. 10 stars.
G.H, you are one sadistic puppy! This was such an explosive entry! The scene that got me was when gang members were tossing around a baby like he was a basketball. Brutal, brutal stuff. I love it!
