This was my first Bolan book. At the time I thought it was pretty good and I went on to read other books. Boy was I wrong, compared to the rest of the original books this one stunk. While the story was ok, Mack was way off. The thing I found wrong was the swearing in the book. It was just not Don's style of writing. I had heard that Don was thinkig of going back and rewriting the book and I wished he had. I am glad that this book did not turn me off from Mack. Live large everyone. -
Mondays Mob was my first Mack Bolan book. It was so great I was instantly hooked. I now have over 190 Mack Bolan books in my collection. This is a must have in any true executioner fan's collection. -
I have to disagree with most reviews. I think this book ranks among the worst of the series. Plot was good, characters were interesting...no real problems there. The problems lie with how this book was written. The dialogue is flat, and the action is very forced in many places. This was a chore for me to read...there were many times when I wanted to just set this one aside and find someting else to read. The grammer and lack of good writing skills in this one really got to me. I can only hope that someone who has never read a Bolan book will not pick this one up for a while. -
A truly decent addition to the series. Not one that seemed to be just published to tide fans over until the next one. Good plot...good action...good characters. While not a definite must read, nevertheless a very enjoyable one. -
Not the best...not the worst. Just another book in the series to tide the fans over until the next installment. Am I the only one who is getting a little bored with the series at times because of books like this one? -
Decent read...but like so many others it just feels that it was written to tide the fans over until a really good one came out the next month. Sadly this seems to be the case more and more often. -
If only VanCook and Newton wrote this series it would be hands down the best reading anyone could find. Another fine example of what this series could be. -
Newton at some of his best. If you have not read my reviews of the previous 2 books, please do so before reading this... Newton finally appears to have found where he wants this story to go (I believe that it was a struggle to write the second book of this trilogy). Ther characters become much more interesting in this one. Great finale to a trilogy that should have been a duology. -
If you haven't read my review of the first book in this trilogy, please do so before reading this... In my opinion Newton was forcing himself to make this a trilogy. There were more dull and slow moments in this book than in most of his others (and in my opinion Mike Newton is and always has been the true heir apparent of don Pendleton). The publishers should allow story lines to only have to take up 2 books instead of 3 (yes, I know that that is basically what a SuperBolan is for, but they don't all have to be trilogies). The ending of course left you ready to read the third installment. -
Newton...'nuff said. Great as usual, although lacking in some places (like the dialogue in areas), but it was fun to have Johnny back. I feel that maybe Newton was feeling forced to make this into a trilogy, because this starts out great, but...well, please read my reviews of the other 2 books in the trilogy. -
Total crap. Had great potential...but couldn't live up to it. A book that seemed to have been forced when it was written and I personally had to force myself to read it. Unfortunatly I find this to be occuring more and more often in the series latley. -
Shadow Target May 20, 2000I am usually a fan of Newton, but thank goodness this wasnot one of the first of his I read. I agree that it had potential, but just did not live up to Newton's other books. Dissapointing, but not every book in the series can be wonderful. -
Rolling Death May 20, 2000Another book in a short span that just was not that good. I hope that there is no one out there trying to figure out what is so great about the series and picks this one up as a first or second book to read. With a few exceptions in some of the action scenes, this book did not seem to have what it needed (and I am not sure exactly what could have helped it). -
Black Dawn Rising May 20, 2000Enjoyable...I liked the tie in with Phoenix Force (even though I do not read much in that series). Nice change from some of the others in the series. -
The Trial May 17, 2000The BEST in the series. NO DOUBT. If you haven't read this...you don't know Mack. -
Death Has a Name May 17, 2000Easily in the top 5 best books in the series (continuing with the trend started with #91). The battle at the Wall begs to be reread over and over again. -
Blood and Thunder May 17, 2000I disagree with some of the other reviews. This was one of the weaker book in the #90s. Still enjoyable (very much) but not as good as some of the others. -
Save the Children May 17, 2000The story was realistic and true when it was written and (sadly) still is today. Another great read in the series, whether you read it when it first came out or just recently. -
The Fire Eaters May 17, 2000There is little doubt that the 90's in this series contains some of the finest books written in the enitre line. This was another must read. -
Moscow Massacre May 17, 2000A good one, and it helps to wrap up a long lasting plot in the series. A fun read, but if you have not read the others, you may want to get some background before reading this one.
