OK so I'm only a few pages in and I'm thinking deja vu. Just read the section where AT get hassled by customs getting off the palne in Nicarauga. I'm thinking wow I must have already read this book and just screwed up by picking up the same book twice. Then I read the reviews and lo and behold I'm not the only one. Even the same insults towards a custom officer by Swartz is word for word repeated, and we all know a guy with that much comic genius would never use the same line twice. I agree with the one review of if an author has to use the exact same material twice he should be working at McDonalds or Walmart. Gold Eagle I think you got ripped off on this one as well as all us loyal readers.

I agree with the previous review in that there is lots of intense action and both teams take their fare share of punishment. But I do have a few issues over and above the one mentioned which I agree is very annoying and happening far too much. First the author seems to either be confused or didn't do his research on PF. While in Basra he has T.J. as the sniper and Manning as the electronics whiz, which is backwards. Second when AT is escaping the tower and the elevator crashes causing serious injuries, well this was hard to imagine since the building was fairly new and all new construction since like the fifties have elevator safety brakes to avoid this type of thing. Overall though a very good read.

Great read and one of the better SM novels that I've of late, especially with Mack joining for the last battle. What brought it down for me was the many editorial mistakes, some mentioned by others, another big one was Gary was suppose to get into a hard suit because of his demolitions skills but once under the water he was replaced by Pol. If it weren't for simple mistakes like this I would have definitely given it a 10

OK only half way through this book and it's just OK. I agree with most of the other reviews, tired and old plot line, cookie cutter bad guys and such. So how does a drug king pin become the first entity in the world of stealthing satelites, a little far fetched, and the big one for me is when PF gets to their safe house in Bangkok who's the first one to grab a beer out of the fridge? Rosario????? Since when was he ever a part of PF, bad spelling, grammar, flat plot lines even tried and tired bad guys I can accept but not investing enough to get the homes teams straight, bad form.

Just read this book and will say a very good read with lots of action and enjoyed the amount of time spent with Hal in the field. But. Two very confusing questions come to mind. First one is why is Mack using his real name? That was a shocker that his real name is known to everyone and no mention of him being a world wide fugitive. Second and more important, with the scope and depth of this plot and the danger and actions against Hal plus the info needed on the bad guys, why weren't the Stony Man teams called into play, at the very least the farm. I'm sure Carl, Katz and their boys wouldn't take too kindly to the assaults on Hal. And I'm doubly sure that the Bear and his team, especially Tokido could of cracked into the GOG file. The shuttle diaster took place in 1986, the book published in 1988 yet the Stony Man team were around way before that. Still enjoyed the book but would have been a solid 10 stars with the entire COG team involved.
