I've been away from Gold Eagle for awhile and have been reading the regular Grind from Barnes and Noble. I have to say this is Top Shelf. It's real limitation is that Gold Eagle's limited it to only 348 pages. This baby runs and feels like some of the action novels I have read. I was pleaseantly surprised. Good from start to finish.

Not a bad read at all. Has the "Bolan Touch",as far as Bolan's personality goes. I agree that Bolan would have had an explosive device waiting on the road, and would have gunned down survivers from a safe distance with good cover. This makes my 11th Gold Eagle Executioner book read. I read 1-15 of the original Executioner books and he rarely had allies involved in combat, and he provided all his own intel, or had it from organized crime investigaters-I think. Long time since I read them. This is a "good read" run of the mill book.

Actualy shocked this is in the current top 3. I had a backlog of Executioner books and the title was the least appealing to me. However the book was well written. It brings to light the possibiluity of how easy it could be for the people to have a guarilla war. Wonder if our armed forces will be acting with their hands tied behind their backs like in Iraq. Undo that and see what happens. To me though it does not compare with the true "Bolan de esprit de corps". As a result I cannot say it belongs in the top 3. A solution would be a different value of ratings such as 1 keeps to character 2 overall plot 3 Pace of the book 4 action level 5 ending etc. As you can see a little thought would need to go into creating a rating system. I got this idea of multiple catogories from Cigar Magazine for cigars. While a good read the story did not generate the "Bolan elan vital" for me.

This book served as my first later day Executioner book. As a Mack Bolan book it was a fair read. Beginning was excellent. I liked the adventure around the Malayan port, and landfill. The way the antagonist eluded Bolan was excellent. The scene on an island off the coast of China was excellent. The overall pace of the book was good. However overall plot was a little flat.

This was a far better duplication of Don Pendleton than expected. The battle scene tactics, and the actual action taken are better than in my first non Pendleton written book Blood of the Lion. The background of terrorists approached and equaled Don's works. Wonder if Don wrote it himelf. Amazing there are no other books but the four by this author. However this my second out side of the War on the Mafia.

This book was overall a good read. No slowing down points. The author did a better than expected job of duplicating the Bolan character,and brutal humor than I had expected. Better than expected for my first non Don Pendleton book. Been a long time but the scene sets where the action took place seemed a little flat, or lacked lively and real description. The actions in these scenes lacked the reality portrayed by Don Pendleton. This could be just me after 26 years for my first Bolan book. One last point. In Don's books the terms involved with organized crime are fully defined. In this book unfamilier terms about the terrain are left for you to know or find out. These are spanish or portuguise terms.
