I loved this one. I'm starting #9 tonight and this is one of my favorites so far. This was my first expieience with a "Turkey" and I really felt Bolan's rage. The scene when Mack hits Pena with the Mercedes is F-ing awesome. I got chills living the carnage in that scene. This one was good writing except for the very end. I have a blog with entries about Mack Bolan, google my name if you want to see more. -
I'm giving this one a five. The end really disappointed me. Seriously, here is this crack team of specialists who slap the mob around like it is nothing, and then they all die in a matter of pages. Why? Like some of the other reviewers on this site, I thought it was cool to see Gadgets, Pol, and Carl Lyons grouped in the same book. It made sense to me that Gadgets and Pol were the two to get busted. I kept on reading, even though this one kinda sucked. The editing was terrible. I'm only giving this one a 5, because Contenental Contract really sucked. -
I had a hard time rating this one. I gave it a six in reflection of having read the first seven. I agree with some of the earlier critiques that the relationship with Val was campy. I chuckled through the 'overly-gratuitious' sex scenes. I also felt the end was rushed. Seriously, in 8 pages, he wipes out 50 mobsters, shoots down a helicopter, outruns the cops while bleeding, and confronts a double agent. The end sucked as far as storytelling goes. But, that cunning layout of how the tale unfolds was great. From the time the first group of loan sharks eat lead, to when he walks back into the loan office, robs it before dumping all the loan records on the floor and torching them; I decided I liked Bolan enough to keep reading the series.
