Reading this book, I got the feeling that it was an undone novel desperately needing another rewrite or two. The basic premise is all over the place and doesn't really sinc up together at well. The pacing leads you up to a great finish, which never materializes. The action is also lacking. Besides, didn't we do this plot in Star Venture? -
I agree that the was McCarter is dropped into the action was a bit lame (and why "Pat"? Whatever happened to Mei Anna?) I loved the references to the old PF/AT books. As in Doom Prophecy it brings a history back to the characters. I loved the banter between the characters and the action is top notch. I can understand how those unfamiliar with the old books would feel a bit lost with the Unomundo story line, but I loved it and hope Doug writes many, many more Stony Man titles. -
I don't normally give 10 stars ever, but if ever there was a book that deserved it this is the one. The action is well-paced, characters are great, and the plot flows nicely. You get to see all of our guys open up a major can of whoopass, and there are character developments galore. I think this book has raised the bar for Stony Man. I hope Chuck Rogers keeps coming back to this title.
