I really enjoyed the heck out of this book. Being new to the series, I really didn't know what to expect when I started out reading this. The style is different than anything I've read before, due in part, I'm sure, to the fact that it was written in the late 60s. However, in my opinion, it still holds up very well even today. I was expecting over-the-top, non-stop killing and ridiculous, unbelievable scenarios but I was quite pleasantly surprised to see the hero, Mack Bolan, take a more thoughtful and realistic approach. His character seems more real and believable than the average adventure hero. And the stuff he does in this book, while perhaps a bit implausible, doesn't come across as totally ludicrous or impossible, lending a bit more credence to the whole thing. I have ordered the next several books in this series and am excited to read and learn more about this excellent character. If the following books are as good as this first one, I think I'll be in for a real treat.
