This title is a great addition to the series! It's make at his best going straight at the Mafia and keeping them on the defense the whole time. Bolan gains a new friend that pulls him out of a tight spot and returns to assist in the storys big blitz finally, plus a small run in with Leo and Hal add to the great flow of the story. My main disappointment was the final attack on the ship was almost an after thought to the rest of the action and a lame showing for the highly built up Talefero Bros. All and all this earned 10 stars for me cause I don't think I ever put it down! -
Another good read! I thought this title wrapped up the opening trilogy just fine. Although I had to deduct a star mearly because it was probably the weekest of the first three. Don't get me wrong I loved this one but at times it was a little to introspective and whiny for Mack at times. I don't care much for the pages of inner struggle whether to continue what he started or give in and die. Aside from those moments the story was classic exicutioner with a finally for Di george, the villan, that was cold blooded and fitting. Also we get a little more Carl Lyons and the first appearance Of Hal Brognola another key character from the series. Another must read in the Executioner line. -
Another 10 in my book! The Death squad was an almost seamless tie in to Mack Bolans first strike on the mob. The death squad was an excellent bunch of characters and the introduction of Gadgets, Pol Blancanales, and Carl Lyons (later to become the big mans Able Team) made this a classic title in the series. The action was great and it was a major shame when the squad went down in the end. You almost feel as bad as Bolan to lose such a super kick ass group of soldiers. I was a little curious to what happened to Bolans squeeze from the first book but seeing as how I can't remember her name it really isn't that important. The fact all these guys had returned from Nam a week after bolans war started and were all in the LA area was a little fishy but not enough to ruin the enormity of this title! Another must read in the series. -
I began reading this series back in the early 80s when Phoenix Force first hit the shelves. I recently came across the first three Executioners at a local swap meet and thought to myself it's time to get cought up on one of the most entertaining book series I ever read. So starting with Executioner number one War Against the Mafia I have to give this book a 10. It set the standerd for Mack Bolan and the Entire series. Although I read this many times in the past it was just as fun as the first time I ever read it. It moved along at a great pace and had many memorable characters.I really felt Pendeltons passion for writing the big mans story! War against the Mafia is a must read for anyone venturing into the world of Mack Bolan!
