DEADLY FORCE Law-enforcement officers are being assassinated by a brutal, invisible killing machine. Coast-to-coast, this operation seems efficient - and untouchable. Mack Bolan goes undercover with the Houston PD to penetrate the heart of this evil. The trail leads to misguided cops, psychos for hire and a U.S. senator drunk on power. Striking fear into the American psyche could propel him to the helm of a Gestapo-like federal police force - complete with a one-way ticket to the Oval Office. Bolan's agenda is clear: track down those responsible and make them pay - in blood. It's time for justice. Executioner-style.

Wonderful title to read original plot and story line (except for later described) and certainly worth while your time to read. As an ex Police Officer I was very impressed with the authors knowledge of Police procedures and thought processes and he certainly nailed down what he was writing down. Excellent characters introduced I especially like the old man and the main mentioned killer. Good balance of action scenes and investigation sections where the Big Guy is searching for answers to who was behind the cop killings. So only a five rating contrary to other reviewers ???? Yep and this really annoys me when I come across something like this in these titles... The Big Guy is closing in on the Main Killer of the cops who has disguised himself as a Mormon. Combat senses are screaming at him what is wrong why can't I see what is the problem? He is racking his brain what it is that he can't bring to the front of his brain which is staring him straight in the face. Then he finally makes the connection.... Mormons travel in pairs not by themselves. DUH !!!! This was done in Eternal Triangle DICK what has your memory faded ???? Disappointing inclusion by the author to cut and paste this section to what otherwise was a fine read and very much spoiled the experience for me. Shame this was such a good read otherwise.

When I read this book, I was surprised by the quality of the writing. It was the first Executioner novel I've read by Jerry VanCook, and it made me a fan. I hesitated to read this one because of the bike club content--I expected another uninformed, hokey treatment of the subject, but VanCook did a pretty good job of portraying the bikers as, if not real, at least not completely over-the-top and two-diminsional.

Awesome story,if kinda chilling.I am in the military police and like to think of all cops as my brothers.( And sisters for all of you politically correct folks.)Just goes to show that all of those who walk the thin blue line really are soldiers in an undeclared, or perhaps unrecognized war.The thought that a public servant could sacrifice so many good people like that to further his own ambitions gives one pause.

This was going to get a 10 until the last 20 pages. Yuck. The rest of the book was fantastic. I liked how Mack really had no clue who was involved in the murder of over 140 cops and he was solving it right with the cops. I also liked how Mack was a cop and how he dealt with the officers. All except one was good. Too often he infilirates bad guy groups this time a good guy group. The part in LA was good too with Mack and four cops in the car with him and how the cops disliked the Internal Affairs officer who was a good guy but because of his job was seen not to be. Of course his theory about the dead cop didn't endear him to the others. The Houston scenes were fun especially with that young cop's like of blasting Christian music. His question to Mack if he liked Jesus was just funny. I did not understand why having police officers be national was unconstitutional. Some oversight probably isn't a bad idea especially in terms of communication. VanCook seemed to equate this with the Gestapo and I don't understand how. I wish a few paragraphs explaining why its bad would have been nice. Yes anything can become bad if the bad guys are in charge. The ending. 1) Mack had all the cop killers to come to a secluded home. Couldn't he just have had FBI agents barging in to arrest them? It seemed unnecesary to gather them then kill them. As each were arriving as soon as they stepped in they could have been arrested - simple enough. 2) Ok they got the Senator and he was let go by the grandjury on lesser offenses. Mack picked him up turned him over to agents for greater offenses - treason. When the senator was arrested the first time they should have charged him with treason. Didn't make sense. This was all done in 4 pages. I recommend read the first 200 pages and stop, That was a 10.

Phenomenal book! It has everything: tons of fast paced action, humor (for instance, any scenes involving that old man they interview), and suspense, plus an outstanding ending! Definitely one of my favorite ones so far and definitely a keeper!!
