BLOOD OATH New hostilities erupting between Peru and Ecuador have taken a deadly turn and the grim standoff is leading up to the unthinkable: germ warfare in the Amazon. Mack Bolan's mission is to locate and destroy those bioweapons before it's too late. With his cover as an American journalist blown from the start, Bolan races to unravel an insidious conspiracy: a bargain between the rebel extremists of both countries using terrorism to escalate the violence and further their despotic visions of power, glory ... and a new Inca empire built on blood. As the battle rages through the jungle, the man known as the Executioner remains steadfast in his resolve - to dispatch those who made a devil's bargain to the hell they deserve.

A pretty average title here with a wonderful ending which gets it an extra star from me. Usually I breeze through one of this author's titles but not so here I found it difficult to keep interested many times prior to the ending. Two rebel groups one from Ecuador and one from Peru are hell bent on having the two countries declare war on each other where they intend to take over after this happens quite frankly came across as a bit far fetched to me and it wasn't explained in any detail how these two groups actually intended to make this happen even with the use of chemical weapons by either or both sides. Some very good characters added with the standout Skadberry an ex DEA Agent and also an ex Mafia turned Christian preacher. Recommended reading in the series ? Umm not sure maybe this is one of those where up to you if you want to give it a go is the best advice certainly this author has better work in these series than this one.

A few of things the previous reviewer said rang true...the emails and the banter with the sidekick, but I didn't find much else to really get me involved with this one. The action scenes were pretty bland. The biggest plus was the terror attack carnage, and the threat of chemical weapons.

A nice addition to the series. Good action and a few surprises to keep you guessing. I enjoyed seeing a book set in South America that didn't center around the drug trade. The relationship with Mack and his partner for the book Skadberry is nicely developed and he helps add some comic relief to balance Mack's stoic nature. I liked alot of the little things that the author wove into this book. For example, Mack and the DEA agent he is teamed up w/ are in a cafe and the big guy stops drinking the soda b/c it's too sweet - it's a good "everyday" demension to add to the story. It was neat to see our hero send email... another mondane thing that you don't expect someone like Bolan to do. There are a few instances where the Executioner is outnumbered 12 to 1 and out in the open, but yet manages to take all the bad guys down. The author needs to work a little harder to make this plausible. All and all a fun read and worth picking up
