HARM'S WAY
An unknown insurgent force has unleashed a full-scale assault to destabilize Indonesia.
Shiploads of weapons pouring into the area indicate a dirty war in the making.
Riots, bloodshed and a mounting civilian death toll are fanning the flames.
Dealing with misinformation and the all-or-nothing attitude of U.S. Intelligence, Stony Man cuts through the red tape with razor-sharp fighting skills - hunting down a lethal shadow enemy.

Even Mack Bolan did not like this mission. To start with, this is not a Stony Man novel, it is Bolan, McCarter with Rafael, Gary and Gadgets tagging along. Bolan the recruits a character from a previous adventure, called Meiko, that seems to enjoy killing and no reason is given for her being there in place of Able Team or Phoenix Force. So Bolan and friends are led around by two Indonesians, one a soldier and the other a spy to stop a revolution from happening. That eventually turns out to be the Chinese up to no good, but before that it isn't really clear why Bolan accepted the mission or what Stony Man were really doing there. POTUS seemed to be bothered by it but I would have thought that it was a job for the State Department. Oh well, this was mediocre and can be given a miss.
The Good:
Fred Byrnes is back (yeah! bring on that shotgun) and Meiko Tanaka also both of whom are recurring characters and good characters in previous titles.
Excellent plot where outside influences are trying to have Sumatra succeed from Indonesia through numerous sub plots and the Teams are struggling big time to get a handle on what is actually going on.
Many many action scenes which will keep you entertained with some excellent reading.
The Bad:
Truly nothing annoys me more when I am reading one of these titles when I stop and think to myself "huh I've already read this" and if you have read other titles by this author unfortunately you will find the same here.
Probably the thing that annoyed me the most was the prologue where I am positive I have read these "PAGES" word for word.
LAZY, LAZY 3 stars deducted and I wasn't going to rate this as an eleven or twelve?
I didn't enjoy this book as much as I should have. Some of the scences and conversations were right out of Night of the jaguar. That really annoyed me Big Time. SO i have take 2-3 stars away from a really interesting story. THe action was first-rate and the charcaters were more than cut-outs. the major alim and the CIA AGENT Fred Brynes stole the shows as A Chinese occupation of Indoesia is thwarted.
I also found this book more intersting than some of the others that rated it. The book was very well written. The ending was not as predictable as I had imagined. The combined use of Able Team, Mack and the CIA was one of the better combinations in the series.
I didn't have the problems with this book that some did. It was interesting enough, with most of the Stony Men. The assault on the freighter was fairly tense and drawn out, and was the high point.
This is the first of the "STony MAn" Books that I have read. I though that the plot development was quite good. The charecters were a little too predictable though. The action sequences were very well written. This book should be made into a motion picture
A frighteningly real scenario, presented in a fast-paced format.
I especially enjoyed the historical references, which tied the storyline to the backstory created by the dangerous history of the Indonesian archipelago.
It's nice to see that the CIA has finally decided to "place nice" with the other kids...
The book was rather dull and there wer points in the book where I could have sworn I had read a few chapters earlier. There was no Able Team and as for Phoenix Force well there were only three of them and even one of them got shot. I was rather disappointed. Because of what is happening in Indonesia the story could have been a little more appetizing.
Correction: I meant to say the characters in this book were UNcredible, not incredible.
What a disappointment! I tossed this turkey in the trash halfway through because the writing was so god-awful, especially compared to Extreme Measures. The plot was fair but the characters were so incredible and dopey, especially the women, that you didn't care what happened. I hope this was an exception to the rule as far as the quality of these books go or I'm going to have to go elsewhere for my pulp fix.
I thoguht this book was just like "Night Of The Jaguar", which I thought it was one of teh best Stony Man books. The story was too predictable, he used a lot of teh exaxct same, or almost same text as in "Night Of The Jaguar". I thought that the author could have been more creative, especially since he wrote this book and "Night Of The Jaguar". I hope I don't have to warn readers about a Don Pendleton book again...
Just when the Stony Man series showed signs of coming into its own, along comes this clunker, a truly wretched book filled with some of the worst writing ever in this series, especially in terms of dialogue and characterization. Worse yet, the book ends with promises of a sequel! Bad news for the franchise.
