A land-for-peace deal between the Peruvian government and a local rebel faction is brokered by an ex-IRA terrorist. Sent to monitor the peace accord, Bolan and a DEA agent are captured and marched into the IRA man's jungle stronghold. But Stony Man won't rest until they reclaim one of their own. Phoenix Force and Able Team invade the jungles of Peru, committed to finding their missing colleague, dead or alive, and they're more than ready to send a few souls to hell as payback ...

Really enjoyed the jungle scenes in this one especially after the big guy escapes how he is continually harassing the troops and how the Indian segment start thinking of spirits etc. good stuff. During this section you can add in some expert trackers on his trail, a good hiding spot, a spider, a waterfall and river torrents. Pretty special reading here in what happens to him and how also what the state of his mind is or will be? Aside from that the Able Team sections were excellent reading especially the light tank section and some of the banter between them is also very good indeed. Phoenix Force was okay and the finishing sections where Mack is finally located good reading as well after the enemy base is taken. Pretty good read here especially Mack's sections after the spider of which the scene with the jaguar was the stand out loved it, recommended reading.

While I did enjoy the aspect of Bolan being possibly dead, and the teams hitting Peru to discover the truth, there was nothing else special about this book. The action scenes seemed bland, but it was nice to see Bolan up to his usual tricks in the jungle. As is usual with Kasner's books, he did have a decent helicopter strike sequence. Other than that, just an average Stony Man.

An okay read that would have been better with more action, especially on the part of Able Team. I thought Bolan could have been put to better use, also. Good, solid writing, though, for the most part.

I am not quite sure how to review this book. On the one hand it was great to see Able Team back in the south American jungles, and the teams relying less on Stony Man technology as a back up; on the other hand I felt that there was something missing. Unlike previous Michael Kasner novels - such as Star Venture and Hostile Instinct - this one seemed to have very shallow characterisation. Bolan, after hanging around in Peru for a week without doing anything, is takien captive very easily. Then he promptly escapes using a spoon and spends the rest of the book pestering the bad guys without really doing any damage. Carl Lyons also seemed a bit odd, especially when he was happy to let Phoenix have all the zction whilst Able guard the safehouse. The bad guys were also shallow. Just what was Collins up too? Why did he want a part of Peru? Just for a peace prize? That didn't quite add up. The story itself, on the other hand, was quite good. Stony Man goes on what is basically a personal mission to rescue Bolan, although they figured out far too early that Mack was alive. Another good point was that Able were using original covernames, although Bolan was still calling himself Mike Belasko. All in all, it wasn't too bad, but could have been better.

This was an outstanding book from start to finish. It showed how dangerous one man who is properly trained can actually be.

This is an awesome book. The scene with Able Team and their escort in the limo is priceless. It got a little weird with Bolan at the end though. It was good to see Buck Greene and Cowboy Kissinger involved too. Great book!!

This book was great. I really liked the scences in the Peru. I liked the part about the Rouge Agent in the State Deparment. I hope Dragon Fire is good also.
