The playground of the Caribbean becomes a drug clearing house for an ex-KGB major and his well-oiled machine handling cocaine and heroine from the cartels and the Yakuza. Six stars JUST. I must admit this was a major letdown for me after this author's previous six titles in this series which I thought all were superb. The Phoenix Force stuff at the start of the title is probably the highlight of this title where very little happens from then on with the reader forced to basically just read filler material. I also liked the jungle based stuff and the author writes some fantastic action scenes as usual but I would suggest whilst this is in no way a bad title in the series he has personally done many titles superior to this. Up to you.

There are some solid passages here, but overall the book was rather choppy and at times felt like an unsuccessful attempt to cash in on the Grisham franchise (acknowledged at least by having a villian named Grishin). Not Odom at his best.

I was not too impressed with this entry. The Phoenix fight in the Golden Triangle was the best part of the book, but after that the story deteriorated. The open part of the book with the main villains in Japan had no part in the rest of the story. Both Bolan and Able Team had very little too do. After the Golden Triangle, Phoenix moved around the world far too fast, from Asia to Britain to the Caibbean within 24 hours. A lot was made of the size of Grishins's organisation, but we saw very little of it, and very little was destroyed. With the death of Grishin it would be all to easy for somebody else to quick take over the more or less intact organisation. Not my avourite Mel Odom, he has done much better before and after this book.

I hadn't read a book by Odom for a long time, and found this to be fairly enjoyable, but it can't touch Stony Man III with a ten foot pole.

Superb cover. I always like a book a little more if the cover is excellent. The plot is good. Lot of jungle action. Mack's area of expertise. This one is cool because there's some sniping in the woods.

This book was pretty good, but definitly not one of my favorites. This book was like the first book I'd read in a few months out of all of the serieses, and was mostly reading the earlier ones, so I was suprised when TJ was there, and David MaCarter was the leader. I kind of thought Gary Manning or Rafael Encizo would be the team leader when Katz was ganes, though.

I think this book lacked consistency. It started off in great detail of Phoenix's battle on the island but the ending seemed to be a little rushed.
