War has been declared on the DEA and its European counterparts by an unknown enemy - one who is powerful enough to have established a major upheaval in the drug world, creating a massive new international cartel. When some top U.S. drug enforcement agents are brutally murdered, the President orders Stony Man to take the cartel down - by any means.

This is a cast of everyone Stony Man related in a global fight against a series of villains that are working together to take over the drug trade worldwide. Turrin, Grimaldi, Bolan, Mott, and a plethora of SEALS join AT and PF as they cover all the hotspots around the globe. The action shifts from one location to another frequently, each team getting a general slice of the pie as they track down, then eliminate the targets. Odom includes good dramatic scenes sprinkled between the action to make the book have more of a flavor, as is one of his strengths. Calvin James has some of the best scenes in here, and the inclusion of the undercover DEA agent had you guessing what side she is really on. All loose ends are wrapped up by the end, after a rather large cast of sub-villains are dealt with. The plot is complicated, but without being overly so, and the book overall is a well written Stony Man that has all the basic elements as would be expected for a novel in the series. Stony Man 3 was much better but Odom still brings a good performance here worth reading.

Excellent read here with not only an original plot but a terrific storyline to keep you turning the pages. Lots and lots of action scenes with a who's who of Stony Man characters featuring and it works. As has been reviewed the scenes with Leo and Calvin are probably the standouts but interspersed with some excellent characters introduced you have a fine title. Loved it Highly Recommended reading here.

All over the globe, various DEA agents are dying, all within the space of a few hours. Obviously, a highly organized villain is out there. Enter the Stony Man commandos. Writing on this one was top-notch. Action sequences well done and the pacing was great, making this a definite page-turner. Unfortunately, plot flaws and errors keep this one from being among the best. For instance, in the first chapter, the moon was "anemic". A few hours later, when Bolan is making a night hit at long range, the moon is full. Also, the bad guys motivation for taking out the DEA agents is vague and never really explained well. And it seemed too strong a coincidence that 4 Stony Man teams all ended their investigations within minutes of each other at various points on the globe, just in time for a coordinated assault. Plot notwithstanding, however, this was a very good book. It just could have been great with a little tuning.

This is the way a Stony Man should be. A big book with a big plot, featuring everybody but showcasing 1 or 2 of the warriors besides Bolan. This one gave extra time to Leo and Calvin James. It's always fun to see Leo back with his former cohorts. We also get a villain with a MASTER PLAN. I like these meglomaniacs better than a terrorist group whose plan is "let's go kill some Americans." Like any good book in the series it has plenty of little moments-Calvin watching the DEA agent snort coke, Hal and the President confronted by the bad guy, Price at Langley. Little moments that all come together in a great story. Good job, Mel!

This one wasn't bad, but it paled in comparison to the last few books of the series.
