Able Team goes north when a bizarre man-beast locks an Alaskan village in a grip of terror. It seems its appetite runs to local Eskimo fighting a proposed multi-billion dollar off-shore oil-drilling operation. This skin walker may be the stuff of Eskimo legend, but the vicious jaws that mangled Gadgets Schwarz's leg are real - and so is the group of mercs hired by the oil company. Their idea of diplomacy begins with auto-fire. In a showdown to the end, the land of snow and ice feels the heat of Able Team.

Yep this ends up as a pretty good read. I must admit to wondering at the start what is this but the author really puts you there in this title, it is very easy to visualise what you are reading. I have no idea if what is written in this title is actual eskimo folklore or what but it was entertaining reading.

A very different kind of Able Team story. It starts out more like something Mulder and Scully would investigate instead of AT. Using a plot out of a scooby doo cartoon, the villains are using an Eskimo Shaman dressed up in wolf skins to scare off any Eskimo resistance to the oil company planning off-shore drilling rigs. Enter Lyons and company to figure out what is going on and solve the problem. This book has a good amount of suspense, and spookyness. Despite the strange subject matter in this novel, it is a pretty good AT adventure, most of it taking place on the frozen tundra at the northern edge of Alaska. A decent battle on the ice against the squad called in to try and get rid of AT. The ending is a cool idea, but too much of a stretch for an AT novel. Although Pol and Gadjets seemed to be cardboard cuttouts along for the ride for parts of the book, it was a better story than most of the later books in the series.

By far my favorite Ken Rose book. Very fast paced. The ending is a total classic.

With their newest missions in the Stony Man Books, they deserve to have their own series again. Why did Gold Eagle have to stop??
