This was the order Able Team had been given when they were sent to stop a militant biker gang that had hijacked an armored truck, leaving three guards and two cops dead. The Able warriors join up with a Federal strike force and go against their own instincts when they're told to investigate and prosecute, not search and destroy. When it turns out the hijackers have another target - the President of the United States - Lyons and company decide that if they can't stop the killers with law and order, they'll have to fall back and kill!

I loved this book it was well written and I loved how the target was the VP. and how able team had to try and do it by the book. But after some set backs they disregaurd the rules and do it with there way of justice. Love how they have to battle normal bike gangs instead of military groups.

Another excellent title by this author which will keep you turning the pages. The enemy this time are outlaw bikers who I reckon rate second to the Mafia in desired opposition for good reading. Lots of good action sections and again I think the author writes knowing the characters he is writing about. I didn't think it was quite as good as his first effort but it is still very worth while reading.

Chuck Rogers had a tough act to follow. IMO GH Frost set the standard and tone of Able Team and gave it a continuity and flow that was lacking in the first few volumes. Frost defined Carl Lyons and wrote the pinnacle of the series to me... "Ironman". When I first read a Chuck Rogers all those years ago in the midst of the Unomundo tale it was jarringly obvious this was not Frost... But picking up this book now, literally decades later, make a world of difference. This is real butt kicking 80's Able at their best. The added twist of the boys having to work against their usual MO was a great idea. There is tons of characterization on the part of Lyons and really gives insight to the Ironman and plenty of humor amongst the chaos... A real quick read and very enjoyable...and a great cover to boot...I'm looking forward to catching up on more of these!

I was enjoying the first half of this one, it was like a G H Frost novel, but the second half was more like... well, Chuck Rogers. So all said and done I give this one an average grade.

A good, fast paced adventure, and a kick-ass cover.

I don't know, but this might have been the beginning of the end for my enjoyment of the Able Team series. Subsequent novels had Able becoming more and more official, however, Fall Back and Kill is one of my favorites simply due to the fact of Gadgets and Pol's humorous attempts at learning to be cops (I still chuckle at the mental image of Gadgets miming hosing down a perp and then shouting "Freeze!") to the finale, where Lyons and company are cut loose to shoot and loot as only Able Team can... it's a classic, but looking back now, I cringe at how much Able has been put to working more with cops, instead of raising hell from Tierra Del Fuego to Alaska.Come to think of it, Land of Fire does sound like a kickin' Able Team title. :)
