Flash Point

This one was a pretty big disappointment. The sad thing is that there is a TON of potential here. You have some decent story ideas and somewhat interesting characters. But they never really get fleshed out. It almost seems like an outline, everything kind of gets brushed over really quickly, leaving it feeling rather hollow. The book started off pretty well with a bit of a mystery but after that it just gets pretty awful. It was dull and plodding. Sure, some books have those moments but you still read on because you know it will pass after the chapter is over and get better again. Not here. The whole book is just one gigantic sloppy text. Really messy book. Would not recommended. Even if you are trying to tackle the SuperBolans in order, I would still tell you to skip this one. By page 100 you're just wishing it was over.

I have mixed feelings about this book. On one hand it had writing, intense action, bits of slow-place, detective like work, and parts of the book where Bolan blazes through bad guys. But on the other had, there were 2 things about the book that I didn't like. The plot had too many holes & the main bad guy, Mason Harlow, was just too unbelievable. He was the culprit of weak characterization. The plot bugged me as well. Why in the world would any guy with the money that Mason supposedly had go to a bar in NY & hire mercs he didn't know to be essentially the only people in his vast army that were responsible for killing the leaders of Chad, & thus, giving reason for the Libyans to invade Chad (for reasons the book never fully developed). And why was Bolan trying to arrest him & what happened to Picard & Alvarez? They were left in a fire fight & we never found out what happened to them. But in spite of that, it kept my attention & the strengths vastly outweighed the weaknesses.

Have to agree with everyone else here I really struggled through to finish it. It's all been said previously dull plot, ordinary characters and well basically not much happens for very long extended periods. If you are reading the series in order well you have no choice but this is not a title I would recommend for reading.

This one is typical McDade stuff. It has lots of action, it was enjoyable as I was turning the pages, but the plot was dull, and when the book was over, there didn't seem to be much that was memorable about the story. It's a decent read for a rainy day.

Bolan is after another arms dealer. This one has a deal to sell C-4 to Libya. Bolan and his allies eliminate the threat. <yawn> This one plodded along rather slowly. It seemed like the author was being paid by the page rather than by the plot. The nowel almost seemed like two separate sub-par Executioner plot ideas were joined into a single longer book. It didn't work well. Bolan in merc raining school was ok, but the book left too many plots unresolved and had a very un-Bolan moment on the last page. (Since when does Bolan arrest people??)

IT WASN'T ONE OF THE BEST BUT IT WAS FAR FROM BEING ONE OF THE WORST. THE VILLANS WERE PRETTY COOL AND THE FIGHT BETWEEN BOLAN AND SADOWSKI WAS A DEFINATE THUMBS UP.

I was disappointed with this one. It moved really slow. A below average effort.
