Tensions between China and the Philippines are on the rise, and a series of pirate attacks on Filipino ports and vessels only makes things worse. Phoenix Force discovers that the pirates are armed with American weapons. When it comes to authors who write under the pseudonym of Don Pendleton, one of my favorites is Phil Elmore, especially when it comes to the Stony Man series. Not being as familiar with the Phoenix Force series, I can't speak with much authority on his grasp of those characters. But I've been a huge fan of Able Team from way back, and I can tell you that his characterization of Lyons, Pol and Gadgets are spot-on. It's worth reading his entries just for the Able Team scenes alone. Beyond that, he has a knack for giving his villains fiendish booby-traps the likes of which rival the most insidious creations of role-playing gamesmasters around the world. "In short, to those who have never encountered these characters or this series before, once you begin reading this book, you are in for a white-knuckled ride consisting of gunfights, fist fights, knife fights, car chases, evil machinations, wise-cracks galore, aerial combat ... this puts many a big-budget action movie to shame! You are in for a treat!!!
