An electronics-smuggling ring is distributing deadly IEDs to target American soldiers and diplomats, including the U.S. Ambassador to Guatemala. It's only a matter of time before the group, which has ties with Hezbollah and Iranian revolutionists, strikes other U.S. embassies. Infiltrating the smuggling operation in Central America, Stony Man's Able Team must find a way to shut down the operation, while Phoenix Force goes head-to-head with the terrorists in Iraq before they launch an all-out war and put the lives of millions at stake.

I don't usually post reviews but this book was such a disappointment. The story is divided into two segments. First the Able Team adventure followed by Phoenix Force. The Able Team was good fun. Straight forward, no surprises. Carl Lyons felt a little too aggressive towards his friends, and the undercover guy who was helping them was underdeveloped but otherwise it was a normal adventure for the three guys. But then comes the dreadful rest of the book. The picture on the front cover doesn't happen. If it did then it must have been half a paragraph and I missed it. The blurb under the picture doesn't happen. The back cover mentions the ambassador to Guatemala, but in fact it was the ambassador to Nigeria, a completely different continent. Phoenix Force go head to head with terrorists in Iraq.....in fact they went into Iran. So the complete cover is totally inaccurate. The Phoenix Force adventure was a real mess. The opening of chapter 27 is a good example. McCarter would be talking to Manning who suddenly became Hawkins who morphed back into Manning again - in one paragraph. Then we would have Manning say something only to have McCarter on the following page claim he said it. I lost track of the characters and where they were meant to be or doing. Grimaldi suddenly joins them in Iran/Iraq/Guatemala/Nigeria or where ever and he is now a master sniper! The characters would hop effortlessly from one country to the next without explanation. And McCarter and Hawkins are suddenly guarding the US ambassador in Iraq, why I don't know. There was also a Mossad character introduced in the early stages of part two, a guy based in Argentina. He went out looking for revenge and then nothing. He was gone. Forgotten about. Disappointing nonsense that was badly edited with a misleading cover. Won't read this again.
