The terror begins with ruthless precision when the clock strikes noon. Gunfire rings out in major cities along the East Coast. Innocent Americans fall, each from a direct kill shot. I enjoyed this far more than the Stony Man I recently reviewed. Christian fundamentalists in the US military (and veterans) are causing mass terrorist incidents in an attempt to cause martial law, then take control of the nuclear arsenal and wipe out the Middle East...except confusingly Israel will not be affected by all the fallout and will be able to rebuild the Temple of Solomon and then Jesus will show up again, smiling benevolently to all the white people whilst blowing any body else. Nobody ever said that fundamentalists were smart. Bolan comes into the show by accident then follows the clues to the Twin Cities where he demolishes various biker gangs with his usual Executioner efficiency. He is joined first by a reformed biker then by an Israeli agent who keeps her gun down the front of her knickers because nobody would ever look there?? This is the first Darwin Holmstrom that I have read, and yes it did feel choppy in some places, and sometimes it was repetitive when the bad guys were fantasying how orgasmic the 'Rapture' would be, but I still enjoyed it and the Stony Man characters were more true than in the afore mentioned Stony Man.

Nothing great about this one, but it certainly was never boring. I liked the sniper team plotline, but when Bolan starts out seemingly on a date with an old friend, it felt out of character for the big man. Action scenes were only average, and the villains were slightly over-the-top with their religious nut-job fervor. Bolan had a good rapport with the Israeli agent, but the finale was weak and everything got wrapped up a little too quickly.

This is my first book review, but I have been an Executioner fan for about 14 years. Kill Shot had a great plot and characters. This would have been a 9 or a 10 for me, but I found the storyline choppy and summed up too easily for Bolan and allies. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but the body that Bolan discovered the memory stick on should have been burned from the grenade explosion. I thought the book started out great, then it felt as if the author was rushing to wrap it all up.
