This story is about Ryan and his friends caught between two Barons at war. The setting is mostly around the ville called Sunspot. Lots of action, battles between the factions with a looming threat of nerve gas soon to put an end to all life in Sunspot. This created some tension, left me wondering how or if the gang was going to get the heck out of there in addition to dealing with the chaotic and gruesome warzone. But there is more danger on top of that with the mutie worms and the spider creature, bringing a horror element to the story. The Magus is pulling the strings for one army, and we get a close-up with this character in this book, something rarely seen in the series. Good scenes wrapping everything up at the end, overall a good read, although not the strongest of the writer's contributions to the series, I enjoyed it.
