This was an excellent trilogy by the original writer of Deathlands - the legendary Laurence james!! So, par for the course, this was of course a fantastic action/adventure reading experience that only few writers of this caliber can pull off. The British born author wrote so many different types of genres from westerns to sci-fi. But, to be bluntly honest, the last book left me a bit dried. I thought it could have been longer...and better. But it was still never dull, with fantastic and colorful characters and action sequences. Laurence james was also a master of taking you there and seeing a devastated, harsh and brutal world. First class stuff!

Not giving it a number since I did not read the books in the last 24 hours but a year ago. This review encompasses all three books. The trilogy was fantastic. The first book showed how the end of the world happened and how the father and son team went back home to their the boys mother and sister (father's wife and daughter). They of course didn't see them. The world ended with an astroid. The books contain action. Society is broken down but no mutants. The quest to find their missing family members is the most important part. They meet interesting people along the way and end up in a strange small town where the father is basically held hostage by a demented mother and daughter. The last book they find their women-kin with a shootout and battle in of all place a mall. If you like end of the world books this is worth picking up. Its a rather good compact trilogy.
