Tan Son Nhut

The North Vietnamese Army has begun a ruthless campaign to win the hearts and minds of the South Vietnamese. Where persuasion fails, the NVA uses brutal acts of terror to whip its victims into line. The atrocities have become a grisly warning to civilians not to fraternize with American troops. U.S. military command's solution: field a number of quick-reaction teams to find and eliminate the squad. Special Forces Captain Mack Gerber is assigned to spearhead the mission from Saigon's Tan Son Nhut air base. Frustrated by too much interference by the top brass, he undertakes the haphazardly planned mission and with a crack team of wildcat pilots turns it into a one-chance-in-hell search-and-destroy operation. Gerber and his troops launch an aerial search that leads to a hot LZ. Battling oppressive heat and humidity in the sparsely covered forests, the Americans play a no-rules game with an enemy who has no intention of losing.
