Mack Bolan has been sanctioned to neutralize threats the law can't touch. His next assignment: there's a death squad operating from America's shores, a brainchild of a government insider who is no longer content serving his country. Tim Considine appointed himself judge and jury - but now he's paying the ultimate price. His handpicked execution team has gone rogue. The Scorpions are offering their elimination services for a price - and there's no shortage of takers for the elite team of intelligent, military-trained assassins who have a lust for killing and money. The line between right and wrong is a thin one. When it is crossed the Executioner will be waiting.

I can't say much about this novel that has not already been said. As other reviewers have stated, the writing is juvenile. The characters are awful, especially the three main women. Such stereotypical nonsense. And, yes, the one is the most annoying I have come across in a long time. Oh, and every single character introduced dies. How dull. The story also didn't feel right for its publication date. The author's knowledge of computers and cell phones was very 1990, 12 years out of date. There is not a lot more I can say abut it. Other than it being a small time mission and not a 'save the universe'story, it didn't have a lot going for it.

Well my eighth hundred review on this site and I could not have picked a better title to base it on. Excellent read where the amount of characters introduced who excel are many and the best three are all female. I personally liked the prostitute and also the Drug Baron's missus and how can you not like the leader of the assassination squad who is also a female and has some serious behind the scenes stuff going on with what she is planning and the manipulation of her fellow squad members. The story/plot why the squad was formed and how it was is excellent, the events which lead up to their creator meeting his demise are also excellent add in the back up plans he has installed in case something like what does happen actually happens also terrific. Heaps of action scenes on almost every page which keeps you glued to what you are reading and flicking the pages to see what is going to happen next. This author is generally disliked by other reviewers on this site after that infamous title but I have to admit that I am certainly not one of them this is another fantastic read from him and so close to a ten star rating by me. I would certainly highly recommend this title for your reading pleasure.

Good action and some good villans , but the others have it pegged - I do not like how Mr Robbins writes relationships between men and woman - I've read some other of Robbins stuff, like Spook Night and ( I think it was called ) Helloween ? anyway they kinda remind me of this book, its a good idea and theres some good writing, and you want to like it - but it just seems kinda silly and juevenille. Eh Kay cannot really recomend this book , but it does have a real cool cover, Mack with the M-16 / M203 and the babe with a garrote. C'mon ! Hot babe ready to strangle ya ! Now thats a woman ! eh Kay out - !

An okay outing. The plot had some potential, but most of the action scenes were lacking...until the end. The final confrontation was classic Bolan with a sniper rifle. This novel probably had the most irritating female character ever in Bolandom. Nina the hooker was just plain annoying. The other two major female characters were much more interesting.

I thought War Load had the most annoying character ever in the Mack series. Well watch out for Nina the dumb, dumb, sweet and good hearted prostitute. Also watch out for Belle the "good" drug boss wife who wanted Mack dead but really was just protecting the man she loved. Now there could have been a real interesting character Maddy Culver. A mercenary, ruthless, killing machine hired along with the rest of her team hired by a rouge agent who really wanted to create his own Stony Man granted he didn't know abuot Stony Man but same idea. Now could there have been more chapters with Hal and Mack going through how Constindine's Scorpion's were different from Stony Man since the Scorpion's role like AT and PF were to stop the worst of the worst bad guys in the world? Or keep Constindine alive long enough to confront Hal? Could the novel had longer chapters with Maddy and her Scorpions? Yes. Did the novel need to have the silly talk of Nina go on and on? No. Did the novel need to have Belle give her lame excuses to Mack? Yes. Did the novel need to have her go way, way off the bend? No. War Load's asian-american female cop was the most irritating and truly juvenile characters in the series. Did Robbins think? Oh I found a niche. Lets add two more in this novel. Pendleton wrote women well. He wrote about women yes with quirks but also wrote them with respect. He could have written women that were cliches - dumb prostitutes with a heart of gold or mafia wives that were blind. Belle reminded me of the mafia wife in Nightmare in NY whose love for her husband saved her husbands life. Pendleton wrote that section simply but I think it was one of the more poignant real moments in the series. Reading Robbin's other series Endworld and Blade I get the impression that he really cannot write male-female relationships beyond YA level. There is just something very juvenile about how he writes relationships. Robbins when he doesn't have women in novels writes decent novels its when he involves women. Sheesh. Garbage. The action though was well written in this novel but had too much of Nina and later Belle. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Very Interesting book with good charcterisation. All so intresting backlot. I agree some similarities to Savage Game but in my opinion only minor similarities. Both books starts differently and endings are compleatly in different scale. Scorpions pose quite small threath to Mack when compared to Icemans bunch.

This book is a exact copy of the Sawage Game, but has confusing plot. This writer copied Sawage Game and made awrage books. It has nice action and that deservers to have 8 on my rating scale.
